It's like curating a funeral for the aunt you only ever see every few years because she moved to Florida when she turned 65. You enjoyed visiting her when you were a kid because she made great cookies and always had a gift for you, but the passage of time and lack of proximity has relegated her to a distant and detached memory when you get the news of her passing. All you can think about while the organ music is playing is the impending entropy of all things. God, I need a drink. I hope EJ brought some top-shelf hooch for the after-services family gathering.
Man, I spent every Friday night of my teen years at this mall. Met so many cool people, made so many memories... while it's sad they it's since been closed + bulldozed, honestly it was a good thing. Nobody's given a damn about the mall for ages, it was gradually wasting away and being forgotten. But in its wake, people have been sharing their memories and old photos with each other. There's a great FB group that's reconnected me with old friends and restored long-forgotten memories. If the mall was still standing, that never would've happened.
Damn it! This mall is gone?!?!? I remember going here when it opened and it was amazing with its two floors. I used to love the science store and Cyber Station arcade! 😢
Super weird question, but I like those old-school thermal henleys Junt wears (they seem to have disappeared in the last decade and the contemporary alternatives are almost always extremely thin and ratty). It's like the perfect uniform for a hearty New England/Midwestern winter. Any chance you could let slip what brand those are?
Jon says they're these! www.kingsize.com/products/thermal-pocket-longer-length-henley-by-boulder-creek/1022695.html#cgid=KS_Henleys&start=1 He adds, "I love these for nighttime and winter wear, very comfortable."
Awww, it's a sad state of affairs. In the UK we've not really had any big shopping centre closures, but we're definitely on the verge of it happening soon. On the plus side, a bumper 15 minutes Junt's Cart is always a great Sunday treat.
I have fond memories of that mall.... I'd go up 140, pick up my girlfriend in Lakeville.... we'd eat something, walk around making fun of people, see a movie, f*** in the rest area on 140 S then i'd take her home....
First incorrect statement was that there was a science store there. There was never a science store in the Silver City Galleria. The second incorrect statement was there was a Lechmere and a KMart above it. The discount department store that was above Lechmere was Bradley’s. The only Kmart in this general area was in the next town of Raynham, Ma. Never a Kmart in Taunton or East Taunton (where the Galleria was located). I lived fairly close to the Silver City Galleria, from before it was built until after it was completely torn down.
I've never seen a Canadian mall close. The closest I've experience is one that literally hasn't changed its decor since the early 90's (and neither have the stores), so it feels like its on life support.
I fell down the escalator the first time I went to that mall. Then my pregnant sister fainted while in a big store and fell through a table. It was an insane day.
Also, according to this Taunton writer, there was a Newport Creamery there. Underwater World was a little more recent. www.tauntongazette.com/opinion/20200228/letter-galleria-memories-job-at-arcade-crowds-of-shoppers-glorious-food-hidden-passageways

"What's in Junt's Cart?" Nothing. Absolutely nothing. :'(
"I'm so down on things lately"
big mood

Used to drive from Westport to the galleria in best friend's 68gt mustang in highschool. We spent so much time there.
I used to work at KB Toys in the Silver City Galleria in the 2000s. My life is flashing before my eyes.
I would always play Closing Time at the end of my college radio year. The Feels
Was originally hay land owned by the pierce family who had a dairy farm about 2 miles from the premises.

Actually it was Lechmere and Bradlees. There was never a Kmart in the Silver City Galleria mall.
That guy really reminds me of John Candy 😢❤
Actually the upstairs anchor above Lechmere was Bradlees, then it changed a few times into Steve and Barrys and then Dick's

@@RedCowEntertainmentMuch appreciated, thanks.
Whatever happened to the filene's basement that was in there? Always wondered what kinda weird stuff was going on down there
As a round one employee for some reason we're staying for like the next 4 years and so is the movie therater so I guess there still something.
Demolition of the Hanover, MA Mall just started. What a shame. They are going to build "luxury" apartments and an outdoor yuppie shopping center.

Loved the video, should do a video at Emerald Square sometime as well!
Cute lil baby Junt!
It was a Bradlees. Not Kmart
A lot of store closing Junt's Cart episodes :(

6:46 - makes me lol
A RIP Retail masquerading as a Junt's Cart!😄

Love a WIJC episode to start my day!

So malls don’t close in Canada as they do in the states??
As someone who lives next to the former mall this is not in Canada it was in Taunton Massachusetts
I bought this galleria for $6.8 million, and thinking of returning to work!!
Btw, "Closing Time" -- get ready to put that on repeat over the coming years. Retail is 'walking the green mile.'
Round one is closing?
I fell down the escalator the first time I went to that mall. Then my pregnant sister fainted while in a big store and fell through a table. It was an insane day.
Sounds like a Mr. Bean movie!
The corona virus could wipe out all of humanity and Apex would still be trading.
Looks like Westminster mall
:( That was a really nice day but, I believe it's all rubble now.
Goodbye too malls.......miss Suncoast
That was Underwater World...Silver City never had a Newport Creamery...you should learn the facts before you just throw shit out there...
What a strange thing to be so pissed off about...
