Sploosh is a classic you can never have too much Ozric Tentacles in your collection
Classic! Never gets old....love improvising over this track , especially on fretless
Ozrics, Gong and Hillage, I never tire of them.
We could be friends!
This track gives me flash backs to the pongmasters ball at the Brixton academy I think some time In the mid 90s great stuff.
I was at that 👍👍😊
Ozric Tentacles never fails to take me on a sonic journey, and 'Sploosh!' is no exception. The track weaves a fascinating tapestry of ambient psychedelia and progressive rock - it's like diving into an ocean of sound where every ripple is a new musical idea. The blend of synthesizers, guitars, and ethnic instruments is simply enthralling. This is music for the mind, body, and spirit. Can't wait to dive deeper into their discography!
Some musicians tend to think they can do what ever they like and then they go making most amazing music. This grooves!
Indeed it does!
Merv was fed rave music through his headphones, as a "click" to drum to, when they recorded this.
Roly told me that at a gig once.
Haha! That figures!
I remember when I saw them live in London shortly after this was released (18th Aug 1991, The Venue in New Cross, with support from The Moonflowers & Levitation - what a gig!), and when the crowd were calling for Sploosh in the encore, Ed had to explain it was too hard to play live (back then)! 😅 Think I bought Tantric Obstacles on cassette at this gig ❤
I only recently heard of this group, I was listening to Haken one day and saw Ozric Tentacles pop up on the side bar, ha, so I checked them out. They have some cool stuff! But I have to be in a certain mood to appreciate them!
One of my favorite bands ever, seen em so many times since first seeing them in 1993 tho bought Strangeitude in 1991 on it's release as a tichy bit of sploosh was played on itv chart show. me and my mate listened and didn't get it at first! then heard pungent effulgent and was more into bongs n acid then and totally adored them.....met them all through different line ups. Kno a few current members as well as past ones! Sploosh is a live classic! Saw them twice ith gong recently and got tickets to see them with The orb later on in the year!
Fantastic track. Takes me back to more ‘ecstatic’ times. They grooved hard. That old mixolydian, major/minor thingy. So cool.
Always heard of this band but never had the pleasure of an introduction. Very interesting and inspiring. Makes me want to mess around with some loops.
Beautiful.
Only just discovered you after watching your new Porcupine Tree track reaction. It's so great watching someone who truly gets into it and appreciates music. The whole package, goosebumps etc. Love this song so much, I just wanna dance around the room in the dark. Have subscribed and look forward to exploring more videos. I have also discovered Fates Warning thanks to you.
Thank you!
@@JimNewstead most welcome. Can I reccomend the song Again by the band Archive. The live video at Belfort clocking in at 16.22 is phenomenal to watch and listen to.
I’ve taken a few journeys with them live in the past... quite the adventure
Innit!!! Me too 🌀😵💫
Just subscribed! Huge ozrics fan from Australia. Love watching ur reactions Jim.
Thanks!
Yes, Ozric Tentacles 🐙🐙🐙!
Thank you, sir!
As always great overview Jim cheers
What a fantastic sound ! Somehow never got into them, might have to try again. What I did get into though was Hidria Spacefolk, more folky less techno-y... Cheers.
Ooooo yeah baby! Got me some Hidria about 18 months ago…. Never got round to featuring on the channel.
@@JimNewstead Haha awesome ! Well maybe sometime, keep up the good work !
If you like Sploosh you'll love an album called Illusions On A Double Dimple by Triumvirat.
First listen to this band for me. Very good stuff. Reminds me, a bit, of the intro to the Spock's Beard song A Guy Named Sid ruclips.net/video/cX-Ser897SM/видео.html
That's going on the euro cycling playlist (just my take :P )
Ozric Tentacles, always nice. Love them.
Have you seen the ‘Live at the Pongmasters ball’ live concert where the flute player is out of this world; high on dope I mean.
This song was played in this great concert.
I’m still listening to a lot of electronic music. Amethystium, Klaus Schulze, Tangerine Dream, Redshift.
Probably about 20 years ago! Might need to watch again.
hmm...
I'm a fan of Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schulze, Jean-Michel Jarre, Vangelis, Kitaro, and Tomita. I don't know the other two you listed. Perhaps Jim will feature them sometime to introduce us to them.
@@IllumeEltanin know them all and have albums by them.
There are so many electronic music bands to choose from.
Also have a look at these:
Ken Martin, Berlin chronicles
Richard Wahnfried (=Klaus Schulze)
Brian Eno, Apollo atmospheres and soundtracks, ambient on land
Carbon based lifeforms
Solar fields
Asura
Redshift
Syndromeda
Future sound of London
Synergy

If Jim doesn't know Jarre, I would highly recommend getting a vinyl of Oxygène, if for the album cover art alone. I only know of one reactor who has done Oxygène by album sides, and it's definitely worth a listen. However, if Jim is familiar with Oxygène and Équinoxe, then I would love to hear Zoolook on Jim's channel. Laurie Anderson doing a guest vocal for the win!
had this 12" too
ozrics one of my top bands, travel into space rock, wierd noises, n tight drums...clunk click..ihes also an underated guitar player
Been listening to OT for over 20 years but this is not one of their better songs, to monotonous. Erpland, Curious Corn & Jurassic Shift were great albums in my opinion.
I agree.... but it's the only single I've got! And I wanted to do a quick Ozrics vid so it fitted the bill, though it didn't fit "the Bill". Sorry!
