The Late 1980s logos have aged very well by the standards of early CGI. I presume NBC was perceived as the "cool" network from 1985 to around 2000. The M&M era feels like NBC stopped caring.
Here is a nerdy fact I just discovered: ABC was born out of NBC. (True!) In its radio days in the 1920s, 1930s, and until 1945, NBC had two radio divisions. NBC Red and NBC Blue. However, it was apparently taken to court due to antitrust issues. So it was broken up. NBC Red became NBC, and NBC Blue became ABC. For its first two years of existence, ABC would remained closely aligned to NBC before becoming its own entity/network in 1948.
Very true fact. When NBC Blue died in 1941, it was subsequently renamed the Blue Network. In 1943, the network was reinvented as the American Broadcasting Company (ABC).
My NBC themed songs for its 100th and their inspirations: "NBC Rock Anthem" (Party Rock Anthem) "NBC, NBC" (Let it Go) "Peacock Party" (Monster Mash) "Rainbow Rain" (Purple Rain) "In Color and We Know It" (Sexy and I Know It) "Carol of the Colors" (Carol of the Bells) "Graybusters" (Ghostbusters) "Color-Filled Peacock" (Star Spangled Banner) "Smooth Colors" (Smooth Criminal)
It's interesting to see some of the early versions of the peacock logo archived in black-and-white. The idea was to give B&W viewers some idea what they were missing out on. NBC being affiliated with RCA (and later GE) got color TV past a chicken-and-egg adoption problem since they were able to push both content and hardware.

I hope y’all will reply to this that was funny when the peacock 🦚 hit the C and boom!?????…also in two other NBC logo videos there are was one where the announcer said this is the CBS Television God dammit that was also funny huh?????!!!
The NBC of the David Sarnoff years was really something; this was the station that telecast concerts with Toscanini. Today it is trash and a disgrace to its foundations.

I found a set of NBC chimes in an antique shop in New Jersey. Should have bought it.
Damn. You missed a gem.
I saw an RCA Victor dog (w/o phonograph) in an antique shop in Yokosuka, Japan. I shoulda bought that. 😢
I love how you can always tell when it’s the 1970’s. The minimalist logos always give it away lol

NBC was riding high in that era. Their Thursday night line-up and "Must-See TV" slogan have become legendary. They destroyed the competition.
@gars129 you are SO WRONG I thought the M&M era was cute
Happy Birthday MTVPlay! 4 Years!
These voices were part of the Peacock Network: Ben Grauer, Mel Brandt, Casey Kasem and Danny Dark.
Don't forget Townsend Coleman.
@@ronsanford4793 And yes, Townsend Coleman. On the animated side, he voiced Teen Wolf and The Tick. Thank you.
and don't forget Don Pardo, He was an NBC Announcer until 2014!
