Amazing 17 passengers survived, since they were sitting in the back the plane was traveling slowly. We can criticize the captain for making the midstake and then panicking, but instinctively he did try to fly the plane, and in doing so he saved people’s lives.
It seemed he didn’t save anyone and those thee survived was due to pure luck. How is piloting into a building ‘saving lives?’ Why didn’t they try to drop the plane as aggressive as possible after the collision? It seems the collision caused a destabilization event of which caused the plane to pitch up; due to the plane’s speed, it was still generating lift and flew up and to the right. Why didn’t pilot aggressively put the plane down in this case? Stick fully forward, etc

This video is inaccurate because it shows them lined up for 23R and crashing on 23R. They in fact were lined up for 23L and crashed into a dump truck parked on 23L. They were supposed to sidestep from 23L to 23R (the open runway).
I think you are right. They landed at L ('goddamned left', closed), not at R as shown here ... Also, there was already a touch-down, with the left gear on the grass left of the runway, then they tried to abort and pull up, but the right gear collided with the dump truck.
This actually happened at night time and from what others say in 79 that particular airport in Mexico City was very poorly lit. Basically what happened the left lane was under construction and it had the ILS basically the auto landing unit. So they had to do a side step which is lining up to the left lane with the auto and correcting the plane position to land in the right lane which is called a side step. However their air traffic control never mentioned that they needed to make a sidestep maneuver but did mention 4 times that they needed to land in the right lane. They just assumed that the lane with the ILS was already on the right. And since the airport was poorly lit they couldn’t see the construction vehicle they hit which did kill the driver in the vehicle

What your hearing is the CVR picking up the plane's electrical system which runs on 400hz (That's a 400hz tone). It's interference and wouldn't have been audible to the human ear.
