Can't lie I was extremely skeptical of what you guys have been saying but now that I've cut my cardio to 2 days a week for just 20-35 minutes and started focusing on resistance training the fat is just melting off me. I'm eating more and doing less work but getting better results and its just mind blowing to me. Thanks again for your help guys.

That was the biggest change for me: eating more! I was Def not eating enough for the amount of weight training and cardio I was doing. Getting in more protien and just xalories in general has done wonders

Can an endurance athlete fix their metabolism without drastically decreasing their endurance training ?

What does it mean when you have been lifting consistently, doing cardio and eating plenty, yet do not feel hungry. I am eating because I know my body needs protein to grow muscle but I do not actually feel hungry when I am eating .

My methabolism has become so eficcient that I only do like 20 min everyday of boxing. Once upon a time I used to do 1 full hour and was harder to lose the pounds.

I’m 6’ and 250ish. Can’t lose weight unless I starve myself for days. 1800 calories a day and I’ll either maintain or even gain. I started walking the other day, walked a mile in 108* heat, ate 1600 calories of chicken and woke up 3 lbs heavier lol fuck this shit

Wishing I had this metabolism! Im 6'2 240lbs. If I eat over 1700 calories in a day I gain weight. Im 37 and a yolo dieter my whole life, everything from Keto to multi day fasting. Ive also recently found my TSH levels are high and im seeking dr opinions.

@@mrpeabody3119 how much do you bench squat and deadlift? You probably have metabolic damage and need to reverse diet.

@@davidverdugo6266 I have an at home gym (80lb Dumbbells) I progressive overload and when I knock out 4x10, with pauses, 3 workouts in a row I move up in weight and lower reps. squat with a 65lb weight vest and 45s, 65s bench, 80lbs deadlift no room for barbell so it is what it is. I also do overhead press, and bent over row with a variety of ISO after the main workout. transparently, I started TRT recently and just started going to the gym 3 months ago at 37
I do believe I need to reverse diet and have been for a few weeks now. But I also have slightly high levels of TSH and I am seeing a dr around that. High TSH for anyone reading; means your brain is over compensating and tell your thyroid to work harder because your thyroid isnt producing enough (sounds backwards but google a more detailed diag). With the Tyroid basically controling energy levels and metabolism Im hoping this will help correct along with proper nutrition, reverse dieting, gaining muscle, etc.

@@mrpeabody3119 so for your weight your not lifting a ton of weight. Dont get me wrong your stronger than the average man for sure, but a 240lbs experienced lifter will be benching in the mid 300's if not high 300's, squating high 400's and deadlifting low 500's (all of those for a 1rep max). Since you dont have the ability for barbell id recommend getting or making a very sturdy pullup bar and buying portable adjustable dip stand. Do weighted dips and pullups as your foundational compound movements for push/pull and then do bulgarian split squats with the vest and dumbells. Then you can move some serious weight. Use the dumbells for isolation work to assist your compounds. Focus on getting stronger, drinking lots of water, eat alot of healthy natural foods, id recommend using 5grams a day of creatine and getting 8hrs of sleep a night. After 1-3months your metabolism will recover and youll be healthy as hell. Also make sure to do mobility work and stability work for joints.

Also can I ask my brother lost a lot of weigh also but now he going eating I say lest then 1200 calories and working out for 4 hours but he won’t listen that in order to gain muscle you need to start eating a bit more then what he’s eating but doesn’t and the days he eat a lot are weekend but not supper clean I would say

I don't know if I believe in this whole individual "metabolism" idea, it might just be bad tracking. I used standard suggestions from MFP, have it synchronized with a step counter, log my exercise and everything I eat to the gram and it has been hitting consistently for calorie intake and weight loss for several months.

    • @frysebox1

There's big variance in baseline metabolism.
The homeostasis, i.e keeping your body temp around 37C so you don't die is more or less similar for most people.
However everything else can vary drastically. If you have good body composition, you burn more. If you live in colder climates and you're acclimatized, you also burn slightly more. Some people fidget and move way more when at "rest" or doing daily activities, I am personally one of those. Adding all of this together can easily be a difference of 1000kcal or more, before exercise is even added in.

It's really shocking and sad when you see someone that's clearly anorexic at the gym. This one person I see several times a week and all they do is cardio. This person is the only person I've seen stay on the stair master the longest with the best form too but clearly deficient and they never do strength training. People never generally last on that thing! Humans get so used to punishing themselves and suffering.
