Did i say that? I mearly pointed out that the scene now does not offer much exposure to the "darkness" of a decade ago. Good for you dude that you are exploring the amazind depth and variety of DnB and Jungle, I never meant to offend. I'll be more carefull in future :)
@beatsiz You definitely got a point there I wish I could link an example of just which specific sub-genre I speak of but I can't think of any off the top of my head.
@BackTorqueKing Yep, the Dubstep kids (the younger generation that is, not being nasty there) have not experienced the raw 'darkness' of this period dnb... imo this is way darker than most of the "dark" dubstep. On another note this baseline killed the cones on my 18" bins back in the day - worth it though ;)
Hadn’t heard it in a minute but recently unearthed Hype’s Mixmag Live! mix from 99, forgot how seeeeriously dark some of the shit on there was, Especially tunes like Dark Soldier - Servo which is so raw. Also got Dillinja - Tronic Funk on it... the whole mix is complete rudeboy darkness yet catchy in a way only Hype could weave. Flipping Brilliant. The Nine, Clear Skyz and Killa Bees are also on that mix... I mean come on.
@beatsiz Just look at the new genre of dubstep emerging - popstep as I call it. Dubstep got too popular too fast and now the mainstream industry is going to proceed to rape the genre. I fully agree.
Real drum and Base AKA jungle AKA UK drum and bass is the Best dubstep sucks it's like if drum and bass had a little mentally challenged brother. And it's sad That there are D j's that never learned to beat match or have had to learn to beat match on technique 12 hundreds For turn tables that are way worse like my 1st pair decks. I personally own the MK 2 technique 1200,s and I'd never mix CDs. I have added a pioneer cdj for a 3rd turntable to have CD tracks to mix, that sadly I cant find on vynal. Mad respect to all those who recognize the skill it takes to beatmatch and mix and blend. Got booked to play out, had to bring in my turntables and lug them through the crowd and I heard things like, wow is he gonna spin records, and what are those, lmao, Dillinja is just 1 of many who have blazed a trail for the electronica movement, and jungle drum n base. CDJING doesnt impress me much or captivate me the way Boss DJ wraps tracks likes a train on vynal, maybe I'm old but I thought turtablism is an art form, no matter house, or Drum n Base. Saw a guy plug his iPhone in when I was out one night to play his set and holly shit, that actually passed for a slot on the line up, keep mashing up records, if you can, and if you cant mr. CDJ, learn to and then maybe if you can still pull your set off properly then you will have respect, that's just me, and Dillinjas view I'm sure
@Zaphodox how ignorant! im young and fucking hate the new shitty dubstep and dnb attempts now a days ! being young dose not mean you cant understand older and may i say better roots of dub/dnb
It’s tunes like this, Friday, The Growler, You and Me, Thugs, Angels Fell etc that are the definitive Test/Valve sound. Cannot be replicated!
good to hear mate, most of the youngsters i know think dubsteps the darkest shit theyll hear, good to see theres still some youth representing
i really don't understand why people now listen to skrilex instead of dillinja, source direct, j majik, wax doc, hidden agenda or photek
The feel of this tune is wicked ,It synchronizes both your mind and ears. Like hypnotic suggestion
Wicked vibe on this one..... more quality from dillinja and possibly my favorite test record.
