professor mcgonagall is singlehandedly the best character in this entire series. the entire series would've also been shorter but more interesting by a hundred times if harry was left under her care, and i will fight people on that.

The number of fanfictions I have read where McGonagall decided to say “f u albus i’m gonna rescue Harry from the dursleys” they are always awesome
On the one hand, Harry wouldn't have that bloodline protection thing, saving him from Voldy-butt all the time. On the other hand, he woulda been able to transfigure Mr. No-Nose into next week with a Bippity-Boppity-Backhand, _and_ he wouldn't have had to deal with the Dursleys.

A backup protection charm that Dumbledore utilized, the Bond of Blood, only works via bloodline, or something like that. Otherwise, Dumbledore certainly wouldn't have picked the _Dursleys_ as Harry's new home.

Love seeing these, they're hilarious. But I DO have to say, in Snape's defense, he was protecting three students whom he didn't particularly like and who didn't like him all that much either even though he was scared as hell of Remus due to the fact that Sirius tried to get him killed by Remus. You even notice that Hermione is even cowering into him at this point. So hats off to Severus Snape for this.
