Good to hear the lilting strains of Captain Peter Brydon's Of Silk and Gold performed by his band, the Band of the Irish Guards at 15:12. Their Director of Music composed the piece for the slow inspection of the 2024 King's Birthday Parade, in which 9 Company, 2nd Battalion Irish Guards formed the Escort. The title references the new colours presented to 9 &12 Companies, 2nd Bat IG, a few days before they were trooped for the first time at the Birthday Parade. The band was -as always-in good form at the Guildhall for this nicely executed event.
