these two songs are from an album called folklore that came out in july 2020. she wrote the whole album in isolation from march to july! then she released an album called evermore that came out in december 2020. she wrote that album from august to december.
I love when they play together, Jack Achony plays with them too on the Lakewood Pond Studio Session. I watch this on Disney. Bon Iver plays with them on Exile, I think this is great.
I have to say I love how seb isn't actively fighting that he was wrong on Taylor and actively is learning more and more as he moves forward, people rarely do that
I used to listen to a song or two- but “pop princess” wasn’t my thing. Then I actually listened to her catalog. Def a fan. It’s the poetry, the lyricism, the cleverness of her phrasing. Def fell in love with her songs.
Aaron Dessner is in the band The National, and has a side project with Bon Iver called Big Red Machine. Long Pond Studio is his personal studio in upstate NY. I would definitely recommend watching the entire Long Pond session -- she performs the songs acoustically and explains her thought process along the way. This "session" was the first time all 3 (Taylor, Aaron and Jack Antonoff) were physically together, as they'd each recorded their parts separately. So glad you checked this out! You did miss the part where she talks about the song Hoax, though, which offers a lot of perspective. Always love your reactions, keep going! 💗 ETA: I recommend watching Exile, August, and The Lakes from this session as well.
It’s amazing how good all the Long Pond sessions are; each usually has the interview just before the song is shown giving great insight (like with Peace). The story of how she asked Aaron Dessner to be apart of this is pretty cute. Highly recommend all of them. Seriously.
17:27 New subscriber. Beautiful couple. I love how he grabs his wife’s hand when he’s listening…he did this several times. I can tell he sincerely adores his wife…unconditional love.
the guy that she was talking to is Aaron Dessner. he's been one of taylor's main producers since folklore. he is also apart of a band called the national. he has since produce gracie abrams' most recent album and ed sheeran's most recent album
I can't imagine being this famous. Like she says, no matter how much love she could give someone... she can't give them peace, because her career makes her life chaos. This is my first time hearing this one, but to me this is her cry for someone brave enough to stick with her, thru this crazy journey in life that she is caught up in. She is so famous, rich & successful that she gets no privacy & constant scrutiny. That takes a confident strong man to live that life. Maybe I am way off base. LOL Who knows. Gonna find it with lyrics & listen again..
This song was pretty clear about her and Joe. He is a notoriously private person but she knows that, no matter what, she will never be able to give him all the relative anonymity that he had before they met. So she’s asking if whatever sense of normalcy she can give him is enough. Sadly, it appears that this may have at least somewhat played a part in their downfall.
It’s not just her romantic life, either, it’s also her friendships. She goes into it a bit more in … I think it was Miss Americana, which I really hope Seb watches (if not also reacts to). What she said really stuck with me, how she’s the only person she knows who essentially always goes out with a full mobile trauma room, because she receives so many death threats, and the fear that her presence will cause other people to be injured. And how that makes it hard to go out, so she does things like have bowling alleys in her house so she can have friends come over to recreate a “going out” experience somewhere safe… but then she gets lambasted for “being spoiled” or having all these “elitist” house parties. She literally can’t win - and would likely get blamed for any shooting that did occur with her as the target, too. 🫤
I just rewatched Folklore The Long Pond Sessions on Disney+ this morning. The thing about this that is super cool, is that in this program, it is the first time they all actually played the album together, and it was recorded in these “sessions”. The whole album Folklore was made during the pandemic with none of them actually in the same room. They each played and sang their parts separately and turned it into the album and released it during the pandemic. Also the discussions before each song are great. HIGHLY RECOMMEND the entire show. Really NEED you guys to cover Exile - listen to both the studio version and The Long Pond version. WORTH IT. One of my favorites of her collaborations. I get chills every time I hear it. Also Aaron Dessner collaborated with her on her last 3 albums: Folklore, Evermore, and Midnights. (Plus some of the Taylor’s Version Re-records). Those 3 albums are next-level TS and if you haven’t listened to them, you should asap.
He also collaborated with the female singer from Of Monsters and Men, Nanna, on her solo album. Working with Taylor has made his Long Pond studio THE hot place to record. 😂 Which is great for him; he’s so damned talented.
You asked who produces her songs - like everything else, like re-recording her 1st 6 albums, she's made it that she does/controls everything. She conceives the concepts for staging, dancing, backup singers, band, as well as producing AND some editing, etc. The woman is unbelievable. Also, she is a big philanthropist with the biggest heart. She's paid off a student's college loan, but but also bonused, with hand written notes, $500,000 to each of her 100+ truck drivers! Oh, she just repeated that a few weeks ago. And, to boot, her total bonuses for 2023 were 53,000,000! I will write more tomorrow as I have much to share with you. You and your wife have hit me in a very terrific way. There are only two I'm communicating with, and you are one of them. Amy is a music teacher, harpist, and only knew classical until she started with her very hip husband's help a year ago. By the way, I just turned 80, don't act it (but the pic of me is a good 25 year old) - Good Weekend! Stewart
I just found your account today and always enjoy people’s TS reactions. I’ve seen the eras tour live 4 times and I also have tickets for next years New Orleans show! It will be the best concert/experience ever. Take it all in and take pics/vids because the concert amnesia is real. Lol.
Someone may have already commented this but an important lyric is, “there’s robbers to the east, clowns to the west.” I don’t think this was accidental at all so if you know what she has been through this stands out. Robbers to the east refers to her music being stolen because her old label is in Nashville. Who lives on the west coast?Kanye West and he’s a clown in my opinion😂 It’s just phenomenal songwriting!
I love listening to the Long Pond studio conversations she has with the guys before each song on Folklore regarding the meaning of the lyrics, etc. It’s the best way to react to each song for sure! Her lyrics aren’t always the easiest to navigate, so any insight into the song before listening is awesome!
Her two folks albums Folklore and Evermore are my favorites! Aaron Dessner, Jack Antonoff and Taylor all collaborated on them. They make such beautiful music together! You should watch more of the long pond sessions.
Nice! One of the best guitar tuffs from Aaron is Tis the damn Season. While they were filming the long one studio sessions that you just watched, they wrote other songs! He had written the guitar to Tis the Damn Season years before & he said it was his favorite he had ever written in his life. He could never finish it. One night. She Aaron & Jack were up late drunk until around 2/3am. They all went to bed but Taylor stayed up and write Tis the Damn Season. The next morning, she played it for Aaron at breakfast. He said he cried when he heard it for the first time. With the song Evermore, it’s my favorite song in the evermore album.
Thank u for sharing this. I love “tis the damn season” so much and I didn’t know any of that. This makes me love it even more. She is so very talented.
I definetly think seb would love folklore and evermore. These are very word heavy songs though, so I think the formula for the videos should be different cause he seems to get lost in the melody haha. That's great too because it is in fact gorgeous, but it would be a shame to miss the poetry of it all. The long pond sessions for folklore are great for getting context I feel like.
Aaron Dressener belongs to the band The National and is a co-writer and producer for the albums Folklore, Evermore, Midnights, and vault tracks of Speak Now (Taylor's Version).
Oh, you'll love the albums Folklore and Evermore for sure then. Most of the songs were written over tracks by Aarón Dessner, you'll see the writing credits listed as Taylor Swift and Aaron Dessner, or Taylor and Jack Antonoff, her other producer.
As someone who has lived with deathreats off and on in my life I know what it takes including trying to hide your friends so that they don’t get in the way the day someone comes for you. That is the elephant in the room. But some people will not accept to give in to the threats and say I’ll stay regardless. I’m humbled by that but also that means that I’ll do everything to not have you in the crosshairs but I can’t promise won’t promise that I’ll not be me. I want to live.
That's a perfect way of putting it, just because she has a privileged life doesn't mean it's not hard and that she can't dislike some aspects of her life
i love it so much, especially because robbers to the east = scooter buying her masters, and he lives on the east coast. clowns to the west = kayne west is a clown
Sebs, if you like the ambient Aaron vibes, you need to try Coney Island (Feat The National) and The Alcott (Feat Taylor Swift), chill vibes with deep lyrics
just love this duo, love that you are really trying and that yoy guys are going to the show, i loved it i saw her on Mexico, and im trying to get miami tickets!
Ali, you have a great comparison with your role as mom and Taylor's role as a star having the same highs and lows. I'm amazed - I'm becoming a Swiftie because of the lyrics. "Would it be enough if I could never give you peace?" Dang.
One of the donos I sent is from the Long Pond Studio Sessions as well. My Tears Ricochet. These sessions are exactly as they are on the album. They had to record the album separately because it was Covid. This is the first time they got to all be together to do the songs
OK so you guys need to go through the longpond disney documentary? Song by song from the beginning so you can get more of this and Aaron & Jack (the co-producers of the albums folklore and evermore)!!! Because I think you'll both love and appreciate them!!
There is another project of Aaron Dessner (the guy on piano and bass here) with Bin Iver and a feature with Taylor. They did a couple of songs together, but "Birch" by Big Red Machine feat. Taylor might be something for you. It's incredibly atmospheric. I really love it and when you loved this bass so much, I'd recommend it.
Long pond sessions were the first ones I listened to- both the songs which was mainly acoustic or just piano, and the interviews which was then taken down and switched up a bit. She is talking to Aaron Dessner who is from the band "The National". It's a shame that the interview bit here was changed. Originally it was the 3 producers, at night outside around a sort of campfire, and seemed more organic.
I was so so shocked when they both never knew who Aaron dessner is Like WT heck 🥴 But I M so happy that they are appreciating just how good he is like he's a bonified legend
I am SO excited you are doing more Taylor Swift. They are my favorite videos you make. There are other pop songs by other musicians you guys should also give a try. Stuff like..Biebers song Lonely is amazing or When the Party's Over by Billie Eilish.
You should react to "Exile" with Bon Iver, it is one of my favorite Taylor songs. I'm loving your honest reactions and witnessing your journey, thanks to your beautiful wife. 😀
Aaron, his twin brother, and one other guy are The National, but Aaron Dessner and Justin Vernon (of Bon Iver said both ways) also have a band called Big Red Machine. Taylor featured on a song called "Renegade" with Big Red Machine (not Big Machine Records her old label), it is really good. Taylor also featured on The National's song called "The Alcott" another great one. Aaron doesn't sing, he is a musician and by now you know he had composed a lot of melodies that Taylor wrote the words for.
I didn't get tickets yet...im hoping to go. I live in nyc but my brother lives in Nola and works for the Saints....im crossing my fingers he can get me in
I agree with everyone who has been suggesting the entire Long Pond Sessions movie. Every song is great. I can't choose between folklore and evermore - together they are my favorite Taylor albums (which is saying a lot because I love them all). I am living 2 parallel lives. I miss my kids and when I get myself out of this vault we can celebrate together somehow. Thank you for your time diving in. Midnights came out 3 days after my evil father died. It came out on midnight 12000 days after Taylor's bday. I never need to see another scary movie. I've killed enuf demons. Listen to long story short, mastermind, I mean the whole album actually.....
GO SEE ERAS TOUR MOVIE ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Respect Sebs for being open minded to hear Tay from open perspective and appreciating her talent.
Congrats on getting those tickets! I'm also going to the new orleans show next October and it was so tough getting tickets at presale, I can't imagine getting them after the sale ended!!
In my experience wearing headphones makes the echo go away when you are reacting to other videos, so maybe try that next time and the echo should go away.
Taylor Swift is an artist Sebs can share in his marriage. Perhaps it's Sebs' wife who got him to review Swift - Subs agreements probably benefits his marriage.
these two songs are from an album called folklore that came out in july 2020. she wrote the whole album in isolation from march to july! then she released an album called evermore that came out in december 2020. she wrote that album from august to december.

Like literally

"This is me trying" from the same live sessions should definitely be next
I hope you do more of these, especially My Tears Ricochet (Which is my fave from this album) and This is Me Trying
I've cried enuf for everyone but it's healthy to cry so when u need to cry pick these songs for sure

Folklore and Evermore are easily her best albums so far. Amazing songwriting and folky vibe. Definitely react to the full Long Pond sessions.
It made me cry that y’all get to go to the eras tour.
But also so jealous

I am so happy for you ALI!! I am so envious you get to go! But I can’t wait that by then, Seb will know enough songs to be singing along by heart 😅
Cracking up about how many details you got wrong in the intro 🤣 all love, this was a fun watch!!! And congrats on the concert!!!! 💗
That's a perfect way of putting it, just because she has a privileged life doesn't mean it's not hard and that she can't dislike some aspects of her life
This album was the soundtrack of lockdown for me. In a world in chaos, the simplicity and beauty of this album gave me calm.
“I’m a Mexican Jimmy Fallon” lmao I can’t unsee this this! Lol
You need to watch all of the Long Pond sessions it is truly incredible
Folklore is my favorite Taylor album. And invisible String is my favorite song
Ricochet is mesmerizing from this session…written about her label and how they sold her music out from under her. That one is a must.
Yay for you on the concert! I'm going in Indianapolis! So exciting! Can't wait for the rest of the video lol
My 83 year old father in law was enchanted with Long Pond - it's an amazing performance.
the lyric " there's robbers to the East and clowns to the West" hit home
i love it so much, especially because
robbers to the east = scooter buying her masters, and he lives on the east coast.
clowns to the west = kayne west is a clown
Not him listening to almost all of peace and goes I didn’t listen to the lyrics 😂😂😂 i loled
Sebs, if you like the ambient Aaron vibes, you need to try Coney Island (Feat The National) and The Alcott (Feat Taylor Swift), chill vibes with deep lyrics
Taylors artistry could be an entire college course.
It is! Many colleges across the US are teaching Taylor’s writing as a college course.
Harvard has one beginning this year
I really feel the grief of losing her music all through folklore
just love this duo, love that you are really trying and that yoy guys are going to the show, i loved it i saw her on Mexico, and im trying to get miami tickets!

You need to do the entire folklore long pond sessions!
Yup!!!!
She’s Taylor Swift and somebody new all at the same time, reinventing herself constantly but don’t we all grow up and change? I hope so.
OK so you guys need to go through the longpond disney documentary? Song by song from the beginning so you can get more of this and Aaron & Jack (the co-producers of the albums folklore and evermore)!!! Because I think you'll both love and appreciate them!!
Omg, I am also going to new orleans to see the tour! What day are yall going? would be amazing to be able to meet you guys! I am going on the 26th!
It is songs like this that make her mjsic studied in college english. I love she doesnt get all made up and is just relaxed in the recording studio
i took my daughter to a taylor swift concert when she was 10 best show i have seen as far as lights and all that stuff

Ahhh!! Yay! Congratulations im so happy y'all got tickets! 💜💖
Beautiful wife. Your one lucky man. Taylor has turned into a beautiful young lady too. So successful at a young age
They came out during COVID. That was why the production is so minimal. A gift to everyone during covid.
I was so so shocked when they both never knew who Aaron dessner is
Like WT heck 🥴
But I M so happy that they are appreciating just how good he is like he's a bonified legend
I am SO excited you are doing more Taylor Swift. They are my favorite videos you make. There are other pop songs by other musicians you guys should also give a try. Stuff like..Biebers song Lonely is amazing or When the Party's Over by Billie Eilish.
Listen to Exile and My Tears Ricochet… you will love them
Awesome for getting tickets!!! Im still trying to win tickets for Nola😩 resale is my last resort lol
I’m going to be at the New Orleans Taylor concert as well. I’m a 60 year old grandma Swiftie!!!!!
Also from Utah (Southern Utah) and going to NOLA for the Eras Tour Night 3 (Sunday)

You have to show him exile and this is me trying from long pond!!! ❤❤
The National songs are awesome and such a vibe, I feel like you'll love them, you should definitely check them out.
Congratulations on getting the tickets!! I’m really happy for you both!!! Bring on TayDay lol❤
You will be surprised how quickly you guys will be going on your concert trip, heading to see Taylor.
IM GOING TO THE ERAS TOUR IN NEW ORLEANS TOO! i’m going n2!😭
You guys need a swiftie commentator for all the fan speculations on the songs
i don't know if you know this, but Taylor has another song about the complexities around fame on her album Red, called "The Lucky One".
I feel like it would be better if you have the lyrics onscreen to react to - so much of her writing is incredible and you miss it in one video
Aaron Dessner's band The National did a recent collab with Taylor called The Alcott. I think you would like that as well.
Folklore & evermore came out in 2020 and the long pond also came out in November 2020
Please look up her set list for the Eras Tour and play the fan favorites!! ❤
Peace to me is the perfect way to summarize my PTSD, like to my Hubby the rain is always going to come but am I still enough even with the darkness.
ahh i‘m very happy that you got the tickets!! esp in new orleans :))
GO SEE ERAS TOUR MOVIE ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Respect Sebs for being open minded to hear Tay from open perspective and appreciating her talent.
The sound issues could be fixed by you wearing ear buds/head phones, so the sound from the video isn't picked up by the mic.
YASSSS! You had her there, you were doin Taylor, so I hope you also did my donos! Ahaha
U have to go through the entirety of the long pond studio sessions. It'll be work it.
Long pond was at home on memory lane during covid shut down released 2 albums
Omfg you got tickets!! YESSS
Congrats on getting those tickets! I'm also going to the new orleans show next October and it was so tough getting tickets at presale, I can't imagine getting them after the sale ended!!
You should maybe check out The National. Its Aaron Dessner (the other musician here) band. More rock vibes. Reckon you'd be into it
This is Aaron Dresner. she is talking to here. On other sessions will be Jack Antonof.
You guys should check out My Tears Ricochet. One of her best. But read beforehand what Taylor said about the premise of the song.
You guys should watch Miss Americana!
