I believe On the Waterfront was filmed on the docks in New Jersey. The local mob were watching the filming closely. The scene from Taxi Driver was shot in Columbus Circle in Manhattan. This was a great effort and you should do some more. There are many older films with Brooklyn locations.
Dog Day Afternoon, park slope is bklyn. Was driving my taxi home that day, and seen a helicopter flying real low, so I followed it, little did I know they were filming the scene with the part, when I got to see AL Pacinio right there screaming Attica over and over. True story. Too bad they didn't have cell phones back then.

Warriors! Grew up in Coney in the mid 70s. Remember them filming around the area.
