Glad you're still getting the car fixed. This channel popped up on my timeline a few weeks ago and now I'm seriously invested in seeing this car on the track.
Well done you.... We all have to start somewhere and I think you are doing a cracking job. I started designing, building and racing cars 25 years ago and I'm still on a learning curve. ( present build is a GT40.) Keep up the good work, it WILL be worth it in the end. 1st time out on track testing, and you will forget all about the hassles ..... Jerry ( UK )
Great video! I've been doing similar swapping a VERY-not-made-for-my-car transmission into it over the winter and having to make a removable transmission tunnel cover. Quick tip for finding pre-existing holes for a panel like you're making: cut the head off a screw and grind it to a point. Thread it into the hole, then use that as a punch for the cardboard or aluminum. Bonus points if you grind flats on either side of the points to use a wrench or pliers to install and remove the punch in the existing threaded hole.
Been waiting for you man! Great to see progress on the build ❤, Youre legit an inspiration for trackday/race hobbyists like me. I do understand the time sinks it takes to build and shoot video just please keep it up. Cant wait to see you down in track!
Keep the vids up this is my dream current senior in mechanical and motorsport engineering ready to graduate and start my own build asoon as possible 💯💯
It is awesome to see you overcoming challenges and using simple techniques to improve the car. Keen to see you get out on the track to enjoy all of your hard work!
As a fan of Superfastmatt, your rate and consistency of updates is perfectly acceptable. 😅 If even the seat-pouring becomes a three parter, I will happily watch it all.
Hi Michael. Just discovered your channel due to a thumbnail that came up on RUclips. I own Tom’s race car he had before yours and my mate has Jim’s. We bought them when your car was under construction and I had a look at it being built in Brisbane. That would have been around 12 years ago . Tom was a pretty stocky Irishman and he would have had a tight fit in the Speed . He was a former Isle of Man TT racer and had an impressive collection of Race bikes. Good luck with your build
There is three types of shears, you have center cut shears, there is left and right cut shears that go around corners. Normally the handles are different colours so you can tell what one you have
Michael, the jigsaw is still the right tool for the job, but you'll need to sandwich small metal sheets between two pieces of sacrificial 4mm MDF (or hardboard) to prevent them from vibrating and ensure a clean cut.
Too bad my dad wasn't still alive as he was a sheet metal worker by trade with over 30 years experience and I'm sure would have done a video chat to help you out. He was one of the construction workers that helped build the Twin Towers in New York City back in the 1970's. He was always called to do any finishing work as he was well known to do things the right way and make it look good. He could weld two pieces of sheet metal together and you wouldn't even see the seam. It'll be 16 years in June since his passing.
Halo is needed depending on the rules for the series. Mine doesn't require it. I would prefer if the car had one but I'm not sure it's viable to add one now.

Everything fine? Would love to see a new Video 😊
Good to see progress again. Green scotchbrite pads are the goto for deburring/sanding aluminium.
Thanks for the tip!
I just sat here for the last couple hours and watched every single video one after another. Here have a sub.
Where is he??! We need more content
Well done. Persistent and perseverance gets the job done.
its been a pleasure following this channel
Finally a new video ❤🔥❤🔥

Didn't know that, cheers. Bunny Ng's only had the one type.
@@TTRacingYT no worries, the other colours for aviator snips are red and green normally

keep posting again!
can't wait for the next video
Waiting for new vids
I owned the Speads RM02. They were good. Very fast. Only 1 second slower than top of the class car.
Good show
No update in 5 months?
They have different shears for left, right and straight cuts. Color coded
Hey Michael, to make those angled bolts easier, maybe change them to studs?
YAY NEW PROGRESS VIDEO!!!
Lets goooooo

Bro that sounds crazy, and also R.I.P to your dad
yeah bro "totally turnkey ready to drive"!
Won’t you need a racing halo?

Oh ok
just wondering, why not buy custom laser cut piece shipped to your house. I’ve seen other youtubers use services like that and it seems good
I guess I could have. I think I would have ended up templating in cardboard either way, and from that point it's quicker to just trave and cut.
They're all sponsored by sendcutsend.
come on mate, we call it a texta over here😂
with half mill aluminum you could almost just use scissors.
@mardigmasrian5857 your separating the body of christ, the Lord wouldn't want us to divide ourselves.
new video when?
Still waiting on a new video :(
2 hour job.
Come and work for me 😀
Most of it was pretty quick, minus the trips to the hardware and getting the final bolts in.
@@TTRacingYT You can't afford me.
Yep. But then, he's buying Alu from Bunnings... No idea
@@radialorbits Not to worry - he's got the cool shirt - so we know he knows what he's doing :)
No seams permitted in firewalls. 0.5mm Alu is terrible material for a firewall. Woeful fitup & sheet work. Please stop.
