    Just used it on my Golf PD and took before and after shots of the valve. It made a hell of a difference in terms of cleaning it. Seems to have done the job. I bought it off the back of this video so thank you 👍

      @AndersMcTee 2 года назад +2

      @@jordanjjn I sprayed it direct into the EGR valve. Tbh, since then I’ve unbolted it and cleaned it right out. It’s easy to take off. This stuff would probably be good for maintenance to prevent it getting so bad again.

    Diesels are not City cars. If you want to run local, buy a petrol or electric. Diesels need long journeys (40mibs x per wk) and to be driven like you have stolen it.. you cannot believe the problems diesels have EGR, DPFs etc etc… costs a smsll fortune to maintain, or become a mechanic instead… ps great video.. like the experiment👍🏻

    egr cleaners do work ,but you need the right cleaner ,the one that has a long tube attachment that goes right into the egr will do a fantastic job ,,my egr got totally clogged and put the car into limp mode on a 1000 mile journey ,one can of egr with the tube and ten minutes road side spraying job done ,ran perfect ever since ,,

      Sure, maybe you got your car out of limp mode, but how sure are you that you egr work and close probably? If you ever separated an egr valve and cleaned it, then you will know that any spray will never be enough if you want to do it properly. even if you disassemble it, it is not even always possible to make it work properly

    You need the plastic straw like spout you push onto the can so you can spray it into the intake
    I used it. Must have worked because my engine light went off bmw 525d f10
    But you must be careful. The product I used came with a straw which you push onto the spray button. but it shot out into my air intake! Luckily I think it must have melted away
    I'm sure wynns have that straw/spout which I'd didnt look like you had
    Went to euro carparts to get another one but as I was leaving the store I noticed the straw was missing! I dont get much luck with these things!

    Thanks! I won't bother spending the £8. In my case, the EGR is integral with the inlet manifold and its a huge job to get at it & clean / change it (2004 Focus Mk1 TDCi); but if an Italian tune doesn't sort it I'll just have to bite the bullet.

    Why didn't you applied the product directly on the EGR valve? in the way you applied it you wasted almost all the can!

    • @Papa77sGarage
      @Papa77sGarage  3 года назад +1

      How much more direct would you like it to be? If I had applied it the way the instructions recommend it would be even further away (they say to apply it at the air filter.) Also, not all EGR valves are as accessable as this one so if a particular vehicle has to apply according to the instructions my video would probably give false results. The product will be more concentrated when sprayed directly into the EGR when compared with at the air filter housing.

    • @tozzi32
      @tozzi32 3 года назад +4

      @@Papa77sGarage I'd disconnected the MAF sensor to avoid EGR operation during the clean. Then, I'd warmed up the engine and had removed the flexible pipe before the EGR valve. Finally, I'd applied the product directly in front of the EGR valve. I know this is something you cannot do in every car (because of the EGR location), but do it in the cars you can and share the results with us!

    • @Papa77sGarage
      @Papa77sGarage  3 года назад +1

      @@tozzi32 thanks for the advice but I aim to use the products as instructed and it doesn't mention disconnecting the air flow meter.

    • @tozzi32
      @tozzi32 3 года назад +2

      @@Papa77sGarage You're right, disconnecting the MAF is not mentioned in the user instruction. However, they are made for non proficient users (a non proficient user doesn't know what a MAF is or where it is located), a skilled user would disconnect the MAF. Why? because, as you know the EGR is opening and closing all the time, when you apply the product you're sending soot into the combustion chamber and this soot will be returning to the intake manifold by the EGR, so that means that you're getting dirt the EGR at the same time you're cleaning it. C'mon, try like this and you'll see very different results, you won't break any engine if you apply the product carefully and gently. Alternatively, you can remove the EGR from the engine, apply the product and brush the soot away.

    • @Papa77sGarage
      @Papa77sGarage  3 года назад +2

      @@tozzi32 if I wasn't doing an EGR delete I would have removed it already and cleaned it with plenty of carb cleaner. I prefer knowing the the part in question is as clean as possible before refitting and clearing any faults.
