I had the great opportunity to visit Hamburg 5 years ago when my best friend was studying at Hamburg University. We spent the day at the Miniature Wunderland at it was truly remarkable. So much detail and so many cars and trucks and trains driving around. The planes taking off and landing was a sight to see. The best part of the layout was how the lands would go from day to night periodically and you could see everything lit up, there was a stadium filled with hundreds of little people at a rock concert and when it turned to night they put on a fantastic show. This was truly the highlight of my trip and I’m so glad you shared.
I have visited this layout twice in the last 10 years and the evolution of the layout is ongoing it really is incredible. If you do ever get the chance to visit and its in the height of summer get there early as the heat and the crowds can be unbearable.
The thing that has always amazed me is how German companies have managed to capture the details of scale models. They do not look like models but real items. That jet in the beginning looked like it would actually take off. Some of the models are so detailed that a microscope is needed to read the fine text. It is a joy to see such things. Thanks for posting this video.
and also they even designed the underwater ground to have dips and valleys and detail. I have never seen that ever before on any railroad layout....Amazing....
15.4 kilometer???
Beautiful video and photography. Thank you for doing light zooms, and not jerking the camera all over the place too fast. We can really get a chance to see the details of a great ensemble of vignettes.
So incredible, it is beyond belief. The German group that built this brilliant model railroad layout just out did anything I have seen in the world. With moving vehicles, planes, boats, had every sort of building scene including a miniature golf course, campground and amusement part (with flashing lights), just incredible. Thank you for sharing this beautiful layout that just takes your breath away. The funny scene of the two monks seeing the hot blonde check the trunk of her car...LOL!
They'd just started building the airport when I was last there. This place is amazing and well-worth a visit if you're in Hamburg. The "Minatur Wonderland" is situated in an old warehouse in Speicherstadt and is home to the largest miniature railway set in the world.
This truly way beyond fabulous! Only German engineering could produce such overwhelming detail. The only thing I feel is missing from this presentation are establishment shots depicting the vastness of this display.
I'm breathless.... The attention to detail surpasses anything I have seen before. Who remembers "Thunderbirds and Captain Scarlet"? Especially in Thunderbirds though when they have a road scene. Very impressive to watch even now. I bet Gerry Anderson (I think that's his name) would kill for a set like this. Oh yes and Joe 90 had his fair share of road scenes too. I thought the amusement park ride at 49 min 43 secs was funny though, the speed would scare the life out of you not to mention the G forces... lol
To achieve "realism," movement of objects is essential. They have fabulously accomplished on a grand basis, truly stupendous imagery. One of the things I've always felt was missing in model railroading is that the "trains move--everything else "stops." Here the highways have motion, properly set lights have visualized potential movement and even though there are some "mistakes," this project is hardly a "failure." It is an outstanding and awesome product of hard work and time. Great video.
James Wingad I'm aware of the Faller Car System ... it's a real investment! What they have at Miniatur Wunderland, is their own system ... not Faller's. Each moving vehicle has its own battery source ... there is a whole series of videos made of this place as it was being created, and one of the videos actually shows and describes how it was achieved. They use many brands of vehicles, as well as fabricate their own.
Why would you dislike something like this ? It takes an unbelievable amount of time and effort to build a model like this , obviously this person or person's have a huge amount of talent hat off
Seen under this "angle" we understand better how all this is working. What a marvelous world that the models, more than likely, to the delight of the youngest and most less young people. Thank you and wish you a pleasant day.+PILENTUM Unter diesem "Blickwinkel" verstehen wir besser, wie das alles funktioniert.
I used to watch model trains from your channel when I was 5 years old suddenly I thought let's see model trains and your video comes aaahhh that vibe of your miniature world I can't describe in words you bring back my childhood memories thank you so muchhh PILENTUM❤❤
What a superb attention to detail this layout is, I'm spending more time looking at the scenery than I am the trains! If more of the vehicles moved perhaps that would be nice; just my personal opinion! Well done the creators...
Excellent. The people behind it went to the bank, told them what they planned to do and said they needed a million euros. The bank agreed and that was it. It now has a huge compliment of staff working on it, with a computer control room that looks like NASA. Many vehicles run on batteries and when the computer decides one is running low, it is sent to a recharging area, parks in the correct bay, and contacts on it's wing mirrors allow it to quickly recharge. Everything is hand made, with some models needing hundreds of hours of work on them.
We just came back from a trip to see the two largest layouts in the world that we know about: Miniatur Wunderland in Hamburg and Grand Maket Rossiya in St Petersburg, Russia. Both marvelous, though I couldn't tell which was bigger. They both are incredibly detailed. Another huge one, not so well known, is Northlandz in Flemington, New Jersey. Northlandz is not in the best of condition, but it still is huge and is notable for its long and elaborate trestles.
Awesome and impressive layout! I haven’t seen anything this beautiful and this big ever - a lot of work went into putting this stunning layout together and have it work flawlessly which it did 👍💕 Thank you Pilentium for sharing this awesome video 😁
This is the most visited tourist goal in Hamburg. More than 1.000.000 paying guests every year. The place is run by two brothers with an incredible sense of what might entertain the spectators and a magnificent ability to stimulate their staff to think the same way. I am quite sure that the MiWuLa could not have been developed and run by so many other people than these.Enthusiasm is the key word here. But try walking into a bank these days and convince them to put billions of dollars into a model railroad. It most definitely is worth a journey also from abroad. Come on guys and travel to Hamburg. We come down from Denmark regularly
SO impressive in terms of the variety of scenarios, the precision and the range of modeling and automation techniques involved - at least one person's lifetime work surely...
OMG this is so awesome. It’s the best set up ever. Love every section and amazed of the airport. Trains, planes, automobiles and boats. Wow! Thank You for sharing. ❤️❤️❤️
Im Februar geht es hin . Freu mich schon.

Never seen so much attention to detail in my life, my favorite part was the model parade. You should also check out the model city of Chicago at the museum of science and industry...
Ana looks as if she might have a nose wheel tyre issue. Have British and American airlines been excluded? What a fantastic lay out and the realism is quite amazing!
You need almost two days to see it complete. There are so many details to surch for so you will be crazy to find all the gimmicks presented in the scenes. And the craziest thing is, there comes new themes and more rooms every year! So it gets bigger and better every time you stay there.
amazine layut - I never expected to see the Rock Island Lines still working here; and the Chicago and Northwestern,,,brilliant, Reminds me of the layout at the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry but this of course is very much larger...perhaps we shall see the iron ore mines of the Marquette Range with the pocket docks in Lake Superior :) thanks a lot :)

It would be a treat to capture this video without background visitor noise and just have the sounds of the jets and trains.

Yes, this afternoon I took a scale model vacation in Switzerland and Germany and was home in time for supper. Thanks for making that possible.
I am truly stunned! The airport stuff killed me and that was just scratching the surface. Real water and boats...wow.
and also they even designed the underwater ground to have dips and valleys and detail. I have never seen that ever before on any railroad layout....Amazing....

Simply put, Incredible! I can not even start to imagine the work and commitment that went into this. Congratulations to all involved.
Great video! Somebody spent a fortune on the layout
bademeister
from what i understand, the owners of this, used to run a record label and nightclub and sold it all to build this.

What I love most - besides the 'landing and taking off' airliners, are the moving vehicles! These men are absolute genius!
It's known as the Faller Car System. Faller being the brand.

Que dire devant cela? …. Respect aux réalisateurs ! Quel rêve .
Beeindruckend!!!
Fantastic footage, really well filmed. Those models and the layout with such detail are just amazing. Thank you for sharing this.👍

Excellent model work and excellent video taken. Initially it was like I am watching a live airport. Videography is awesome. Thanks for sharing.

This is absolutely incredible, unironically
Fantastic, watching the interplay of various modes of transportation
Fantastic detail and video
One day the little people will wake up ! And this little world will be in harmony.
thanks for sharing PILENTUM
Outstanding, like see more on model railroad subjects. Thanks,

Thanks for this. I had no idea anyone had constructed miniatures like this on earth! A great accomplishment.

We visited last week. It is even better than it looks in the video. Amazing. 3 hours was not nearly enough time there.
