I was also bullied as a kid because I am brown. People can be so racist. To this day I think I am ugly. It’s really hard because no matter how many times someone calls me beautiful I can never believe them.

I was bullied the whole my life. I'm Indonesian. and sadly it was beginning before I was born. At that time My mom told my father that she don't want her children to be brown and want to do anything to make her baby skin fairer when she's impregnating me. Starts from eating pearls extracts and other herbs medicine to change my skin color. Sadly, it was all in vain. After I was born my skin still brown hahah. And I still remember when I was in primary school I always got picked on,cursed, beaten but I can't stand by myself because I got severe mental illness that avoided me to control myself. I just crying at all time and my parents seems really don't care about it. My parents said you have to change your skin fairer because you can't get girlfriend because you're look skinny & unattractive. I'm punishing myself many times, I cut my hand and forcing myself to eat as much as I can until I puked and I've gain 40 kg in high school and became obese. I also using whitening cream when I was a teenager because I understand that I'm ugly and that's why I want to look more fit in them. More thing that I hate about my life is I'm gay. And my family is muslim also society is really have a bad stigma about my sexuality, I also can be punished 3 years in prison and moral ethical school service because having boyfriend. I just want to live in the place where I can be myself without hate. I hate myself I want to die.
How are you know? Hope you're taking care of yourself. Unfortunately some of us didn't had the luck of borning in a healthy family. But what you passed through doesn't define who you really are. Going to theraphy and getting out of your country, studying and working, having your independence... surely it'll give you another way of seeing yourself and your future. And then, who knows, you can be a inspiration to others.
