Hi, I have the same Polini ignition kit that you have. You must set the ignition timing at a fast tick over because that ignition system retards 1 degree every 1000rpm. The Polini ignition kit ignition timing retards 8 degrees at high rpm, so if you set the ignition timing on a fast tick over at 24 degrees before top dead centre. At high rpm the ignition timing would be 16 degrees before top dead centre at high rpm. Hope this helps. Regards Richy.
Thanks for the information, I will look into this. I think the installing description for this system was very poor and did not make it very clear on where to set the timing.
@@jcreswick the length of the piston stopper doesn’t really matter, it just needs to be long enough to stop the piston before it reaches top position. I think I’m using a 38 mm.
Great video, I am still trying to wrap my head round it, but it is a good thing to know.
Thanks 🙏
Thank you for taking the time to do this. Def helped! Much appreciated.
Thanks for the feedback 👍

Now I could see in the description that the pre ignition should be 23 degrees at 3500 rpm. I have fixed it now.
Thanks for enlightening me. 👍
How much does your bike rev? Mine seems to go up to about 7500-8000 rpm. I thought it would be a bit more.
But I haven’t done a proper test yet.
Where did you get that air filter/ bellow adapter? Thanks.

This is for the 24/24 si carb, it’s a different type for the 20/20.
great video, what is your engine setup?
Thanks 👍. I’ve sold that Vespa but here’s a link to a video about it:
