  • The Division of Culture presents Sennsé Domnik. This mini-documentary is geared at giving some insight into the lives of some of the most revered Sennsé Costume builders from various locations in Dominica, highlighting similarities and differences in their practices.
The journey begins with the acknowledgement of its African origins and the various customs and beliefs that brought about the use of this unique costume. We then enter the world of the builders, discussing everything from their personal backgrounds to building methods, commercial aspirations, opinions and gripes.
Sennsé Domnik is not an instructional, "how to" video. Instead, it is intended to give rise to a greater appreciation of the work of local Sennsé Costume builders and hopefully open the doors for economic viability as a tourism product as well as on the domestic market.
