I'm not a country guy, not a religious man, not a veteran, but this song, without a doubt, appeals to me. Had a long battle with drugs and more than happy to say I'm going to be 4 years clean this summer. My heart and hope go out to anyone struggling with anything. You can beat it and it's never too late to start rebuilding
Same here, man. I've been clean for 10 years now and I'm still fixing all the damage I did when I was using drugs . But like you said it's never too late !!! Wish you the best man. Keep moving forward don't look back.
This song doesn't get enough credit for its message. I'd like to personally thank everyone who is serving or had ever served in our armed forces. You gave me a home to grow up in that was safe and I wanna be just like ya'll out of highschool. Serving to give children a safe home. Thank you all very much, from the bottom of my heart. My family served and I hope I can too one day.
I feel you on this one... My uncles and grandpa served and I was hoping to go into the Marines but I broke my leg and got diagnosed with type 1 diabetes... If you serve come find me.. I live in Oklahoma and hopefully will move to Texas. THANK YOU ALL VETERANS
Just want to add its good old boys “AND GIRLS”!!! Wish my PTSD could disappear!!! I wish for a full recovery for Colt!!! He is much needed for love and support for the VETS!!! Much Love!!!!
Just as long you aren’t alone that’s what I care about. Nothing but respect for my sisters and brothers that wore that uniform 🫡 from a ex infantry soldier.

Respect man. That's a tough and dangerous job, a military man in the civilian country. I sure hope I don't meet you on the highways but I'd respect you if I did.

Im a combat decorated Marine who has ptsd from coming home after multiple tours just to find out my country decided to welcome in communism with open arms. My drinking and anger after getting out didnt have anything to do with combat and all to do with the willful cowardly downfall here at home. Been sober for a year or so now thanks to God. Haven't thrown my medals and uniform in the garbage yet but i have been close a few times. Semper Fidelis
I promise there's still a ton of us out here that love our military brother. I always get pissed at people that say they hate our military, but I tell them to not hate the boots on the ground, hate the suits in the comfort of DC that call the shots for the military.
I was just given some good news today and wanted to celebrate with some good music and seen this comment. I Google it and realized he had a heart attack. I hope he gets back to his old self and takes it easy. Colt Ford has been a very big inspirational figure since day 1 of me listening to him many years ago! My family and I will be praying for you!
Colt. Thank you for this song. Sadly it is the truth that all deployed soldiers go through. I have been in the army 16 1/2 years now. Deployed to Iraq twice and have battled my own demon's. Luckily though diagnosed with ptsd I have made it through. I battled with alcohol long ago and found comfort and a wonderful woman i now call my wife. We are expecting our first child and can not be happier. I have my good days and my bad days still. I really find peace while in the woods hunting and or out fishing. I encourage anyone dealing with ptsd to find something constructive to do and concentrate on it. Again thank you so much for this song.
wow amg u served longer than my cousin and i don't know why i keep posting abput him but i think he should become famous or something idk y but he died 8 years ago after being deployed to Iraq for battle i'm glad ur better i have soo much respect for you guys who get shipped over seas since my cousin went on but that was only now tho' because i was still. a baby when he left and i didn't undersrand but now i do and that is y i have soo much respect for you people
I know its help save my life more times than I could care to count brother, it's such a powerful message and I live by it, whenever I'm at my wits end or think I cant endure anymore this will always help me to find some peace
I'm not a veteran, just a man fighting his own personal war for his soul, but this song is the story of my last 3 years put into a song. Thank you Colt Ford, serves as a reminder we can all do better. That we can change. That sometimes a dad gets kicked around not because he was an asshole but because he still needed to become the man his children deserve. And that is what I'm gonna go out working on
Im not a veteran nor do I have PTSD, but I have a drinking problem, severe anxiety and recent relationship problems. I need to start living better, WORKING ON myself, facing my demons and trying harder to better myself and relationships. This song means alot to me.
You're not alone brother. I'm not a veteran either but I am an alcoholic. I am 102 days sober today. Looking back I realized my anxiety and depression was just something I needed to work through. It really does get better. Who I was 4 months ago was someone I don't even know anymore. The demon lost his battle. You got this!
So I never associated this song with the video until now. But, I’ve felt this song on an immensely deep level. Struggling with loss, life, and alcoholism this song has had a huge impact on my life in the last couple weeks. I’ve been sober since April of 2018 but I always struggle during the holidays. This song came by in the perfect time. The way I was raised, men don’t cry. I shed a couple tears when I listened to this the first time. So if you’re struggling, don’t quit. Even if you’re failing. All you have to do is not give up.
207 days sober, found the one above, working on my relationships with my family, working on my truck right now as I write this to make it to work Monday morning... Song speaks truth. Doing the best I can with this flesh and bone! Thanks to all those that serve; Special thanks to my Marines, my Grandpa, Uncle, and my Cousin. Semper Fi. 🇺🇲🇺🇲
i aint been in no war like the soliders that have ptsd, i have it and it nearly destroyed me when i found out. but i found the strength for holding on through this song.
I’m a late veterans daughter and I love this song I feel closer to my daddy because of this song Rip daddy and thank you daddy and the veterans out there for your service.
Colt I play this song every Friday night, loading my truck...for Saturday work. 62, a sad story. I'm on it, stronger everyday. Still fighting that man in mirror. Not a vet. But life is war now... Love you brother. Glenn from Australia.
THANK GOD🙏💖 for COLT FORD'S MOTHER! She raised a wonderful 😍💗and caring man.COLT is a BLESSING to have here in country music and in the world. Not many genuinely good 😇guys 🤠around anymore. This song rings true in many 👨👩👧👧families lives. HELPING LOT of people who can relate with real problems👨👩👧👧 not big tires and 💵drugs like most rap music songs do.THANK YOU COLT💗💋&MRS. FORD💖🙏🤚💗 HE helped a family member of mine with a drinking problem ,so I appreciate greatly!!
I've been home from my deployment in Afghanistan now for 6 years. I've probably had over 70 jobs and went through the women then end up alone and a alcoholic. I've had my days and this song has definitely helped me through alot. Still alone but I have my son who helps me come home now. I pray for all my fellow brothers and sisters who are out there struggling with ptsd. God loves you all. We are not alone. God knows where our hearts are.
they should put colt ford on the radio. if he is i haven't heard him. i love this song. my dad was in the air force, my uncle was in the marines and my other uncle is currently in the navy. God bless America. =)
I know I’m late to the party but I just heard this song recently and I liked it so much I decided to check out the video. Being a non-combat Marine veteran but having friends who died during and after coming home from these endless wars this song actually made this old man tear up a little. I don’t do social media but I keep in touch with as many of my brothers as possible. Just to remind them that if they need a hand I’ll be in my car and I’ll drive across the country to reach out that hand. Thank you.
Same here I agree with you Hobby Johnson we support our veterans and our military friends and family and our troops all of them at once plus this song reminds me of my dead marine uncle that I'm named after I got all sorts of military veterans troops and Marines in my family and friends
@@timothywhitlock2492 greetings from Brazil, I know your situation is difficult but I wish you well and that you can get through this difficult time soon. Hugs. São Paulo Brazil .
Two tours for my dad, medic. I'm not a normal man because I was raised by him. Dropped off in the swamps of South Georgia at 4 am with a 30-30 rifle at 8 yrs old.
This song, seems to push me every day, to be closer to my daughter. I haven't seen her in nine years, and I am struggling with my drinking problem. But I put this on every morning, and get to it, with the faith I'll earn the right to see my children. Thank you. From a man on the brink of death, to all of you. This seems to pull me back every time.
Phil G hey man how’s it going with your daughter I know you’ve probably long forgot this comment but just hope you see this and remember what’s important to you
Colt Ford, thanks bud. Im a veteran of twelve years and several deployments your song hits home for me . Much love 🤜🤛 i would love to shake your hand and say thank you from the bottom of my heart, god bless brother
I saw colt on a duck dynasty episode and looked him up and found this song. I am kinda old school in my country music taste, but I will admit he is putting out a great message! I'm not a fan of how country has turned to pop and rap, but this guy I like. Thank you to all my fellow Veterans ( 3x Iraq, 2x afghanistan for me) and to all those supporting us. This makes me want to find a support group.
I am an Australian Bloke ( Man ), was diagnosed 22 years ago with PTSD, from owning a Post office and being involved in 3 armed hold ups. Took a long time to get thru it. Talking and going to support groups helped me. Please Please Please keep talking, bottling it in doesn't work. I can not imagine being in the Military out in a War zone. Respect to all of you. I love this song.
54 yr old vet w/PTSD thank you for this song..sometimes I wonder if the sacrifice was worth the pain. I live my life 1 minute at a time wondering if I'll see the next one.
This hits so close home. Not with just vets, which I am extremely thankful for, but with with construction workers, first responders, and the rest were of the blue collars. Great song 👍🏻
Chasing after that dollar like it'll slow down my hurry Settle all my worries when I get it in my wallet Quit dipping' long enough to own a pair of jeans That don't have a ring in the back pocket Laughing at myself, admitting when I'm wrong That's what this gold ol' boy's gonna go out workin' on Workin' on coming to Jesus, kicking the bottle, Wrestling with our roots, Trying to turn off Mama's tears, and feel up Daddy's boots Shutting off our pride, fixing bridges we burned, learning how to live and learn Keeping our demons down and our trucks up and running Loving them angels sitting pretty in the middle of 'em Fighting with the man in the mirror til we gone Yeah, that's what all us good ol' boys gonna go out workin' on Gonna go out workin' on Giving more forgiveness, picking battles worth choosing Little less cussin' and losin' my temper and my tools Dialin' down my restless, outgrowing my reckless And my reputation for breaking hearts and rules Realizin' what I got what I got before it's gone That's what this good ol boy's gonna go out Workin' on Workin' on coming to Jesus, kicking the bottle, Wrestling with our roots, Trying to turn off Mama's tears, and feel up Daddy's boots Shutting off our pride, fixing bridges we burned, learning how to live and learn Keeping our demons down and our trucks up and running Loving them angels sitting pretty in the middle of 'em Fighting with the man in the mirror til' we gone Yeah, that's what all us good ol' boys gonna go out workin' on Gonna go out workin' on Owning up to my weakness, keeping it humble but strong Doin' the best I can with this flesh and bone Workin' on coming to Jesus, kicking the bottle, Wrestling with our roots, Trying to turn off Mama's tears, and feel up Daddy's boots Shutting off our pride, fixing bridges we burned, learning how to live and learn Keeping our demons down and our trucks up and running Loving them angels sitting pretty in the middle of 'em Fighting with the man in the mirror til we gone Yeah, that's what all us good ol' boys gonna go out workin' on Gonna go out workin' on
Sorry man. Hope you recover. I live on Gilbert and this popped up. My mom had heart disease to an extreme. If you can follow all doctors orders then take that aspirin and work out so you shine for decades to come
Thanks Cole Ford. I served in the Army for 21 years and with numerous tours in Afghanistan I still struggle each day with PTSD; it's hard to get through each day. God and family is all I have. Thanks again for this song.
Lee Boyd God and family is all you need brother but it's not all you have. We stand beside you not behind but beside. Thank you for your service Love and respect from Texas
Man I’m sorry about that my dad died to a crash, he was coming home from the bar after a long day and someone ran him off the road then rolled his bike of him stole his leather jacket and wallet and 1k out of his pocket and we think it was his cousin cause they weren’t good people but damn my dad would do anything for anybody at any time man I miss him so much same the the 5 of my uncles that passed
“Owning up to our weakness and keeping humble but strong.” “Fighting with the man in mirror til we gone.” Both of those lines described me perfectly. It’s so hard to do when you hate yourself.
Thank God I was able to kick smoking before getting out of the service, now if only i could kick beer. I came home and dropped everything to gel my dad on the farm, my wife almost left with our baby, now he's selling of the land and cattle yards and I can't even bother him to help my family move a couple miles down the road. God I'm hurting.
I served for 13 years and deployed 10 times. Got to say this video really hit home. I have several friends that suffer PTSD. Thank you for helping raise awareness for this.
I don't know if this would mean anything but I appreciate what you have put on the line to keep us safe I appreciate what your family must have gone through I don't know what you went through but I do thank you sir/ma'am
Keepin' our demons down and our trucks up and runnin' God bless all veterans out there. From one Rakkasan to another......Let valor not fail...hoooah!!!
You have soldiers that came home that would be In the Desert that spend a 18 months on a deployment and they deserve to be respected some soldiers have ptsd not to mention some of them lost there limbs some of them don’t come home to there families and people want to complain theses days soldiers deserve to respected
I'm not a veteran...but this song gives me hope. Found a few weeks back after some really big personal issues, and it somehow lifts my spirits every time i hear it.
I am very thankful to my fans and their love they shed for me, I will keep working hard and try fulfilling all their expectation towards me. Are you one of my great fans out there?
Can't get enough of this song, never was in the service but got PTSD through traumas as a kid and teenager and even young adult...almost 30 now and can feel myself growing and becoming one hell of a man because of the things I've experienced and gone through... I hope everyone thats experienced traumas especially our soldiers that have served can find it within themselves to have faith... thankyou for this song
Its not said nearly often enough, or with enough heart behind it. But if you stood and fought for our country, from the very bottom of our hearts, thank you. Thank you for every single sacrifice you've made to keep us free.
Thank you all those who have served. And for those of use who didn't serve but still struggled with alcohol for what ever reason. Trauma comes in many shapes and forms. This is our song too. I literally listen to this song every single day when I wake up as it resonates with me and gives me hope I can be a better person than I am now
6 deployments, 5 in the last 3.5 years. I may not have substance abuse problems but it hits hard being away from family and seeing your kids grow up through messenger videos and Facebook photos. @coltford thank you for recognizing the sacrifices of men everywhere
I just want to say thanks to all the veterans that was in the service and the veterans that's in the service thank you for serving our country and I'm proud to be a American 🤝🤝🤝this song goes to the veterans love you all so much God bless
I am very thankful to my fans and their love they shed for me, I will keep working hard and try fulfilling all their expectation towards me. Are you one of my great fans out there?
This could have been me very easily. I was headed down the dark path. Until my girlfriend, and her family took me in. I later married my girlfriend and owe her and her family everything.
Had lunch with him in the Bahamas!!!!!! I was watching him and he said you going to watch me or come have lunch. Yes sir don't tell me twice! Nicest guy ever.
This is a powerful song it's got me through some tough times before when I'm in a bad dark place in my mind. I'm not a veteran but I thank every veteran I see for their service
Still blast this every morning up to 20 times all these years later. Love blessing this song to others in the the perfect opportunity to share with them to KEEP CONQUERING 💥🙌💥
I am very thankful to my fans and their love they shed for me, I will keep working hard and try fulfilling all their expectation towards me. Are you one of my great fans out there?

5 year usmc veteran of 2nd gulf war! Thought I was giving up on it all till I just heard this song! Thank you Colt Ford you just saved my life!!!!! 💯 Semper Fi!!! There is hope brother's!!!!
"Trying to turn off mommas tears and fill our daddy's boots" hit me hard lost my dad March 2021 and ever since I have been trying to turn off my mom's tears and fill my dad's boots
This is just another reason why Colt Ford is one of the most important composers of our time. So many negative people write-off anything to do with country rap, they just think it's some kind of bastardization. But when you have such feeling behind the words of your music, who cares what you call it. It's either good or it ain't. And this is good. When y'all coming to Vancouver, Colt? Love to see ya brother. And bring that Bubba K with ya :)
I did 5 deployments in the Army, 3 for OIF, 2 for OEF and was medically retired following my last deployment in 2012... I was an absolute basket case when i got home. I was not AT ALL prepared to see and do the shit i did. Addiction became me, it almost destroyed my family many times. Through remarkably hard work, i have returned to a productive member of society. Its the hardest thing that i continue to do on a daily basis. Guilt, Fear and a lack of love for ones self make for a hell of a fight... forgive yourself, forgive those who have passed transgression on you... we need you back in the fight Bubba... once youre done taking a knee, you come back over here with us and reengage with the fight for life! I believe in you!!!
Man this hit home. Brought tears to my eyes. This song talks about my life. Three years sober now. Nine year multi tour vet right here. Thank you sir
Thank you for your service! Don't believe all the BS Americans love our Veterans!
Thank you for your serves I would took your place sir you are the best

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE
I'm going to pray for you and yours ❤️❤️❤️
We may not know you, but you're in our hearts ❤ I hope you're doing better.

Amen i has a couple family members in the army I don’t think he is in the radio

On the contrary, thank you!

Which Duck Dynasty episode? Thanks!

This hits so close home. Not with just vets, which I am extremely thankful for, but with with construction workers, first responders, and the rest were of the blue collars. Great song 👍🏻
This song gave me chills... Songs lately dont hit me often... But your words have power
Chasing after that dollar like it'll slow down my hurry
Settle all my worries when I get it in my wallet
Quit dipping' long enough to own a pair of jeans
That don't have a ring in the back pocket
Laughing at myself, admitting when I'm wrong
That's what this gold ol' boy's gonna go out workin' on
Workin' on coming to Jesus, kicking the bottle,
Wrestling with our roots,
Trying to turn off Mama's tears, and feel up Daddy's boots
Shutting off our pride, fixing bridges we burned,
learning how to live and learn
Keeping our demons down and our trucks up and running
Loving them angels sitting pretty in the middle of 'em
Fighting with the man in the mirror til we gone
Yeah, that's what all us good ol' boys gonna go out workin' on
Gonna go out workin' on
Giving more forgiveness, picking battles worth choosing
Little less cussin' and losin' my temper and my tools
Dialin' down my restless, outgrowing my reckless
And my reputation for breaking hearts and rules
Realizin' what I got what I got before it's gone
That's what this good ol boy's gonna go out
Workin' on
Workin' on coming to Jesus, kicking the bottle,
Wrestling with our roots,
Trying to turn off Mama's tears, and feel up Daddy's boots
Shutting off our pride, fixing bridges we burned,
learning how to live and learn
Keeping our demons down and our trucks up and running
Loving them angels sitting pretty in the middle of 'em
Fighting with the man in the mirror til' we gone
Yeah, that's what all us good ol' boys gonna go out workin' on
Gonna go out workin' on
Owning up to my weakness, keeping it humble but strong
Doin' the best I can with this flesh and bone
Workin' on coming to Jesus, kicking the bottle,
Wrestling with our roots,
Trying to turn off Mama's tears, and feel up Daddy's boots
Shutting off our pride, fixing bridges we burned,
learning how to live and learn
Keeping our demons down and our trucks up and running
Loving them angels sitting pretty in the middle of 'em
Fighting with the man in the mirror til we gone
Yeah, that's what all us good ol' boys gonna go out workin' on
Gonna go out workin' on

“Owning up to our weakness and keeping humble but strong.” “Fighting with the man in mirror til we gone.” Both of those lines described me perfectly. It’s so hard to do when you hate yourself.
Thank God I was able to kick smoking before getting out of the service, now if only i could kick beer. I came home and dropped everything to gel my dad on the farm, my wife almost left with our baby, now he's selling of the land and cattle yards and I can't even bother him to help my family move a couple miles down the road. Rock, Country, Rap, Jazz, Blues,R&B, etc. This is one of the best songs ever made.
In a single word Mr Colt Ford, "Amazing"
This is just another reason why Colt Ford is one of the most important composers of our time. So many negative people write-off anything to do with country rap, they just think it's some kind of bastardization. But when you have such feeling behind the words of your music, who cares what you call it. It's either good or it ain't. And this is good.
When y'all coming to Vancouver, Colt? Love to see ya brother. And bring that Bubba K with ya :)
God bless every single one of you men and women who served for our country. I hope yall find your peace with your time on this spinning rock..
