Elvis dealt with a lot of hate in his early career but he never let it stop him. Elvis didn't just open the doors for black musicians in mainstream music...he kicked them down. Before then, even radio stations were segregated. Elvis led the way to changing that.

@@dubzer0649 Elvis' legacy is in a big fight to correct the misinormation and lies that are wrongly spread on this man of love. So many comments are made about him being a racist with no evidence. In fact, countless examples exist showing how much he loved all races, all mankind. Please share this documentary with as many as you can and have them share it, especially to those in the black community who have been fed lies for years about Elvis. The black community needs to know what the truth really is.It is an insult to their intelligence when they hear these lies.Mohammed Ali said I don'f love nobody by Elvis.James Brown sat by his casket for hours.Elvis paid for Jackie Wilson's funeral and hospital bills and gave his widow thousands of dollars. He gave Roy Hamilton a song to record when he needed a hit.Chuck Berry called him king of rock and roll.He bought his black cook a house. He administered the good word to prisoners in jail..many of them black..at Christmas. He paid their bails, court costs, gave them money etc. His influence and power were so great that more people watched the first satellite performance ever given, and given by Elvis, than man's first moon landing. The US Dept of Health and Resources credits him for ended the polio epidemic.Young kids and teenagers lined up everywhere to get the vaccine when they saw Elvis receive his. He campaigned against polio. I cannot tell you all the good things he did.A thousand books have been written about him..many filled with lies to make money and lies about his real death. The autopsy said heart attack..the truth. His legacy must continue. The lies have to stop to continue so young people will appreciate this great humanitarin and super talented man

@@juiceplanet147 Chuck Berry called Elvis the king of rock and roll.Elvis said Jesus was the only king. Elvis' black peers copied from Elvis so said Jackie Wilson. These quotes can be verified. The black community and black entertainers loved Elvis and recognized his greatness. Jsmes Brown said He himself was king of soul and Elvis was king overall worldwide.Only in recent years have efforts been made to destroy Elvis in the black community. You have been sold a bad bill of false information.Go to youtube and watch artists then and today talk about Elvis ..called .Elvis and the Black Community. Little Richard said that Elvis made him bigger and more famous.I am sure your eyes be very open if you watch.. For years the lies about Elvis have been spread.I am sure you do not want to be ignorant and not know the real truth. A great youtube channel is Blacc Elvis. He likely has this video on his play list. By the way, these black artists I mentioned were great.Elvis loved them and they loved him.Good luck discovering the real past and what his black peers and black fans actually thought.Oh, Mohamed Ali called Elvis the greatest entertainer of all time. Ali was sure great too. They were friends. There is a video of his saying that and these other artists too.

Elvis and James brown were extremely close they called each other there soul brother. James brown was at Graceland where Elvis was laid out after he passed away, after it was over and everyone left James brown stayed by Elvis's casket for four hours crying. James said in a interview that he loved Elvis and said Elvis loved him too. Mohammed Ali said Elvis was the sweetest man he ever knew, Elvis once stayed at Mohammed ali training camp for two weeks and no body knew about it.

He did it for a reason. If elvis hadn't done what he did, in regards to music, I wouldn't want to see where we would be now. I started EVERYTHING FOR EVERYONE. Thanks for that. I got mad too initially. He did go through a lot when he started. They had a judge at one performance in Florida ready to arrest him if he danced. So all he did was move his pinky finger around & the girls screamed every time he did that. But it wasn’t an easy road. Some people feel he was drafted to get rid of him because he was causing so much controversy. J Edgar Hoover had a big file on him & no one could figure out why Elvis Presley would be drafted when there was no war going on. The backlash of the fans were so strong. Then his mom died two weeks before he was to be shipped to Germany. He was devastated since they were very close. His army buddies heard him sobbing at night in his bunk. He had to grow up fast. But he made some lifelong friends there though that worked with him for his entire life. Glad you played that video. There is a part 2 which I’ll check out. Music had been all clean cut and proper till then, and although it may look tame to you, the fact that he 'gyrated his hips' whilst performing was a huge shock to people back then. 60's and 70's saw HUGE changes in the music scene. Glad you're learning all about it! 😊

Elvis made black communities music ACCEPTABLE for the white community. He gave credit to the black artist for the gospel,Rythem and Blues . One thing Elvis said he could never be as good as the original artist. There are various recording of him saying this. Right out of his mouth. He never took the credit but gave credit where credit was deserved. Elvis was so hated by the older white community. He had it rough. Now today, he's hated through misunderstandings or jealousy or just plain word of mouth for the last 30 years by the people he defended and stood by with not flinching. It's ashame. He was such a good man

But, what kid wouldn’t love a song about a dog? Elvis was love personified! I really enjoyed this reaction. I am a 100% believer that we are ALL brothers and sisters. Like Elvis said, the God that made you, made me too. That’s what this world needs. More lessons from someone who wasn’t afraid to grab the snake and expose it for what it was. Love is the only way. With that being said, here’s wishing you LOTS love, light and happiness. ♥️🕺🏻 Oh, and Elvis’s preacher was right, that echo hasn’t died and I doubt it ever will. Brilliant reaction brother loved it. Your thoughts are also bang in around equality. He was a brilliant musician who also influenced change through embracing the music that defined him, which came through the brilliant early black artists. In fact people before they saw him thought he was black from his sound. Love seeing younger people learn about what he did for music and people there’s a lot more good stuff to uncover 🔥🔥🔥

The last time I saw him was at Graceland. We sang Old Blind Barnabus together, a gospel song. I love him and hope to see him again in heaven. There will never be another like this Soul Brother.”

There was no nothing sexual or sensual in prior to the late 60’s -70’s People on TV sitcoms had separate twins beds. Racism was overt and slavery wasn’t even 100 years ended back then. Elvis was bold!
Good you weren’t born back then.
    Elvis em 3 gospel Grammys
He elevated black music because it was what he knew from up in the ghetto of Tupelo and Memphis living among black people.

Before the Hayes code Holllywood films were extremely sexually explicit. I’ve seen a few movies from the 20’s that feature nudity. It’s TV that was sanitized. Because it came into the living rooms and bedrooms of families censorship was more severe. Even after the code films were quite sexual. Off the top of my head …The 7 Year Itch is a hot one.

Subbed... I love watching reactions to this video. At the beginning, it really throws out what the worst of the 50s and '60s were, and anybody who hasn't seen it before gets a look of total disdain (as anyone should) and even sometimes out right anger. And then by the end, everybody just feels love and acceptance.
On a side note, when he made the Astrodome people drive his backup singers around in a convertible, that was really cool, but to have a little blonde drive them around? FLEX!!!!

Elvis very much understood poverty, he grew up in extreme poverty. He and his family lived in and around ghetto communities, he visited gospel churches, he had little black friends as a child, he loved to listen to gospel and other music coming from the communities. When Elvis was asked questions about political issues during live interviews by journalists, he refused to answer them. Instead he responded by saying he would rather not comment because he is just a mere singer, entertainer. Instead, his messages were in his songs, like In The Ghetto. The other song he released was If I Can Dream, which was his response to the killing of Martin Luther King and JFK. Elvis loved MLK. He could recite so many of MLK's quotes.

There are quite a few documentaries from people who knew and worked with Elvis,he didn't see colour from a very early age,nor did his parents, they were quite literally dirt poor, his dad went too jail for a short time, and Elvis was a twin, but his brother didn't live very long after birth,so his mother could be over protective,Elvis would go to play with kids where he grew up who were black, they'd go to the pictures which was at that time separate seating for black and white, once the lights went down Elvis would jump over and sit with his friends,he'd go onto employ black people, his cook was a black lady and he bought her a house not too far away from Graceland,he'd buy strangers cars etc,you can find these and many other stories online,at one concert there was a disabled child and he took off one of his diamond rings and handed too the parents I think, again you can find that online these days,I saw all this way back on the TV after he'd passed away

Best reaction to Elvis and the Black Community I have seen. Insightful, spot on, and gave credit where credit was due.You unfortunately had to see some hateful times and people. Things are better, but they have a long way to go and if we could get the talking heads to shut up and those making a living off of the hate and keeping it going we could be so much closer as people.
A comment - Elvis took his inspiration from Blues, Gospel, as well ad "Black music/entertainers" as well as country. He spoke to this fact. Harsh and strong accusations some folks have. To know bout Elvis is to think better of him.
Thank you so much for the reaction.
    Peace be with you.

There’s a Part 2 to this documentary, which is very good. It would be great to see you Reacting to Part 2. Elvis was a wonderfully loving, caring, sensitive, & generous human being, who just refused to allow the colour of a person’s skin prevent him from being a friend to that person, 20:05 or from lending a helping hand if it was needed, in whatever way he could. James Brown, Muhammed Ali & Sami Davis Jnr were all very close friends of Elvis, as well as others. When all that hatred against Elvis (by white people) was going on, Elvis was still just a teenager. He shot to almost overnight fame at the age of 19, & he was seen as a big threat by the authorities, because he was told he couldn’t ‘gyrate’ his legs or ‘swivel his hips’ when he performed, & nor could he mix with black people. Elvis refused to give in to that pressure, so he was arrested when he was performing before a large audience. They had threatened him with jail, but they were afraid that putting Elvis in jail, would cause riots. So he was drafted into the army, & ended up in post-war Germany for two years. Elvis & his mother were extremely close, & she was very protective of her only child (Elvis had an identical twin brother who was stillborn), & when Elvis was drafted into the army, his mother was very upset. She ended up having a heart attack & died at just 46 years old. Elvis never got over that. His fame cost him the mother he adored. He was 22 years old when he lost her.

I could never understand hate, and I don't think I ever felt it, either. We were raised in my family with me the only girl and three brothers to be loving, kind, considerate, and thoughtful to EVERYONE. I was one of the LUCKY ones, because as my mom used to tell us, hate weights a heart and soul and life down, and is for losers.
