- In episode 2 of this Wyoming Mule Deer hunt, the guys are up early to get the llamas ready and hike to a good glassing knob before first light. They all three have mule deer tags to fill. For the morning, Beau splits off by himself while Randy and Lorenzo go to a different glassing knob, hoping to cover more country.
Early morning, Lorenzo glasses up some small bucks but it is too early in the hunt to get overly excited. They glass all day but don't find anything real exciting....patience. So they head back to camp and rest up for another day.
The next morning, with Beau too sick to hunt, they locate a huge buck from their glassing knob. Randy always makes the guest hunter shoot first, with no argument from Lorenzo. They wait for the buck to give him a good shot and Lorenzo hopes to fill his tag on a mature mule deer buck in the backcountry of Wyoming.

3 years ago it was family and friends now its my kids since they are old enough!
Next year will be my first ever Elk hunt with my brother, father in-law and his nephew. Rifle elk, I even bought a Howa .300 Win Mag because of you. What was the yardage on this shot? Was it a doped scope or a BDC?
With my dad and uncles. Unfortunately my dad is reaching the age were hunting is becoming limited. Two knee replacements and now he needs a hip. He says one more trip out west and that's it for him. We haven't gotten a bull elk together yet, so that's my goal for next year with him. We are saving antelope hunting for when he cannot climb mountains anymore. I missed a lot of years hunting with him while I was in the army. Trying to play catch up now while he is still able to shoulder a rifle and get out in the woods.
My wife and daughters, my oldest daughter can start shooting her own next year.
It's always best to go hunting with families and friends...

I do not know Beau Baty. But what I do know if that he is an inspiration, especially in these times. I have played college football, commercial fished in Alaska for 12 summers and taught and coached high school kids for 22 years....and Beau Baty is someone to look up to. The gut, the grit, the grind, the intestinal fortitude.....and the heart and positivity are something to be admired. Good on you, Randy and crew. Good on you, Beau Baty. As I watch these edits, I further realize the blessing of great friends and great camps. And the blessing of being an American who, for not much more than the price of a tag and the gas to get there, can have a world class experience on these amazing public lands.
I think any video I see with Beau gives me a better outlook on life and God's blessings. Thank you for letting all of us have glimpses of what it looks like to be a truly grateful man. Lorenzo, holy &$%# what a deer! There isn't another "Big Hank" in that zip code and maybe not in that time zone. Making that climb with that on your back and not being winded, you were an excited man brother.

This is arguably one of the best (of many) videos. It is truly amazing to see everyone enjoying a fun hunt together and to see such great respect for Beau. What an inspirational and great person he is. He is the kind of friend everyone wants to have with his positivity and kindness even when he is possibly going through the worst time of his life. His pain hides behind his smile very well. I wish the best for Beau and the team so that there are many more hunts like this.

Watching Beau on this hunt was an in-person demonstration of the power of the human spirit. We could see it in his eyes and body how hard these treatments were on him. To hike in 9 miles while ailing from the side effects of those treatments is beyond what video and words can adequately convey. I will remember his determination every time I see these pics, no matter whether bucks were/weren't taken.

I've been dreaming of taking a buck like that for 30 plus years, a giant high mountain mule deer is the ultimate endeavor!!! Seeing Beau like that reminds me of my dad when he was sick, he's a tough man.
Now that is what you call a successful hunt!! I have the all the respect for Beau! Even feeling as terrible as he did, he still hiked out to see/share the amazing story/memories with his great friends!! And that’s what hunting is really all about, not the game we punch our tags to but the memories we make with our friends/families!! Randy, Lorenzo, Beau congratulations on a beautiful buck and the great memories you now have !!

Young guys that can pack, old guys that can't, and kids, so I can see the world all new and fresh through their excitement-filled eyes (youngest this year was my new best hunting buddy and he's four). Oh, at my age there are also a few folks that you can't see, but they are with me none the less. Most important: my Lord and Savior.
I have had the great opportunity to watch a lot of hunting video's throughout the years, and this series right here is hands down the BEST I have ever watched. Randy, you are a class act in every sense of the word. As I watch Beau on this hunt I can't help but tear up. The strength and determination that it must take for him to be up there I cannot begin to understand. All I can think is he was where he was supposed to be, with great friends doing what you can tell he obviously loves. What an amazing individual, and what a great crew, all of you!! Congrats to Lorenzo on an incredible buck!! Keep up the great work and good luck on your hunts!

I just got back from my first backcountry elk hunt yesterday and as I was driving I somehow passed Beau’s house. Recognized it from previous videos and was shocked to see it. So beau if you read this and was wondering why a silver truck was stopped at the road by your driveway I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to say a quick prayer for you and your family. I have a lot of respect for you, Randy - LOADS and LOADS. Your hunting ethic, as exemplified by your stance of punching the tag of an animal you wound and don't recover shows the heart of a true hunter, and makes me respect you even more. That said, showing a clearly risky 650 yard shot that misses and then wounds such a majestic game animal -- even though it is recovered -- does not put hunters in the best light, and in my view damages what you and Fresh Tracks have stood for these many years. Had I made that shot (which I would not have attempted), I'd feel sick (as I have on two previous occasions when I've wounded big game animals at much closer ranges). I know loads of people will disagree with me on this, probably vehemently, due to the fascination we seem to have with long range hunting, but I offer this comment with the utmost respect.
I agree. It's unfortunate that the whole long range thing seems to have become acceptable. I enjoy Randy's channel, but don't like seeing this. "If you're not 100% sure you can get a deadly shot on the first try, don't shoot".
I agree with you. Way too far and windy for a shot like that. That was a very unclean kill. Hopefully some lessons will be learned.
I was sad to see this 650 yard shooting.
A man HAS TO KNOW HIS LIMITATIONS!! I believe when a person knows his ability, that adds a degree of assurance that not all people have. For a lot of people a 650 yard shot would be absurd BUT having the experience of many years in the sport and knowing ones own ability, this too is doable. Not for a lot of people mind you but it IS plausable if you're up to the task. Truly, each to his own. Respectfully!

Lorenzo kept saying, as we packed the buck up that steep face, "This is really Beau's buck, even if he wasn't here to see me shoot it." I agree with him. The inspiration and energy Beau brought to the camp was something words and video don't very well describe.
