I spoke to a 37 year tenured Jeep rep and he told me to completely ignore the 2024 build site, that it is handled by corporate marketing and outsourced. He showed me in his order system they only had a few trims available and most of them had completely restricted build lists, they couldn't even pull them up yet. The computer said they had a bunch shipping June 23 and a marketing campaign blast July 7 and that's when we will know everything.
I know it may seem like jeep is saving you money with these options but you can get the most expensive arb bumpers front and rear with a 12k lb badland winch for 3000 and there’s no way it should cost you more than 500 for install and you get much better products for off-roading.
This is correct. If you lease you might still be able to indirectly get the full credit (well, technically the leasing company gets the full credit and passes the savings on to you) unless the situation changes by the time these hit the dealer floors.
The steel bumper group is NOT that good a deal. You can _easily_ find steel bumpers for under $1000 (each). And a harbor freight winch with synthetic rope is like $700 and is nearly as reliable as a Warn winch. You can easily save $1000 over the steel bumper package by buying them and installing them yourself. The only reason I'd spend the extra money to get it from the factory is if you absolutely want the warranty, or if you're handicapped and can't install the bumpers yourself (very simple install - bolts and hand tools is pretty much it for bumpers).
My 2 cents. Bang for your buck is the 2024 4xe Sport S. It is the lowest base priced 4xe. pricing for the Sport s 2024 is actually lower than the lowest priced 2023. Sport S as with all models have same touchscreen display with wireless CarPlay. It also has All safety features including side airbags. Adding the Skytouch roof and Convenience package adds heated seats, steering wheel and autostart which makes it basically a Sahara for thousands less. As far as looks its has painted fender flares and some really sporty wheels.
My jeep build is Jeep rubicon, sage green, renforcement, rock sliders, 3 piece hard top, nav, steel bummpers with winch, convenience, tech, xtreem 35 tire, 3.6 with 8 speed atuowith 4.56 rear gear ratio
I’m surprised with Ford offering the bigger engine with 10 speed auto that Jeep isn’t offering bigger engine with 8 speed auto. Not to mention I ordered my two door bronco with a lot of the up grade options and was still out the door for under 50K.
Interestingly, I used to plan on buying a 3.6 Wrangler once my 4xe lease is up - however, we've seen an increase in the number of 3.6s seeing failures (both JL and JT) while I've seen a few 2.0T hurricanes with 100k+ and no issues. Jury is still out, but I'm coming around on the 2.0
But i wouldnt count it out just yet as they are not sold in equal amount. The 3.6 are more common than 2.0T which may explain more complaints on the 3.6 than the 2.0t. As far as my own experience with the 3.6 like in the Durango, they have been pretty reliable maybe even better than GM's v6 as they seem to spending more time on improvements on their turbo 4 cylinders.
For me, ti was RXE RUbicon X, and throw in a couple accessories (the Rubi X comes pretty well loaded). SPort 4xE GREAT deal on a good selling car!. I did go for the Ribi X though... Hard top, and it pretty much comes with everything else you need on this trim. They are expensive, but compared to when the 4xe first came out, it is a great deal compared to the upgrades for a slight price increase. Larger interior screen, better interior (seats), powerbox is great camping! (with roof tent) and Yeah, Lov my PHEV Jeep!
have to remember or say that the tax credit isn't taken at the dealership, it's done in your tax return the next year. so if it's 60k on the lot, it's still 60k out the door, not 53k
@@grnpnzerit’s a tax credit to be applied during your tax return. It is not a direct refund of any kind. It simply reduces the taxes owed for the year. You may potentially get a higher tax return, but you will not get a $7500 cash refund of any kind. Most people think it’s $7500 off the top of the vehicle, but it’s not. You’re still paying full price out the door.
So Tommy, is the 3.6 V6 eTorque gone this year? If I order a Rubicon with the 3.6 V6 with the auto transmission, I'm getting the standard 3.6, no eTorque, is that correct?
Seems like Jeep changes its mind on the transmission situation. Had a rental with a V6/Auto combo and I was quite pleased with it. Actually want one now.
The Federal tax credit on the 4xe is actually only $3750, but you can also get it as a rebate at the sale whether you have enough tax liability or not now that we’re in 2024.
Consumers are screwed! Cant get a wrangler the way you want, cant get a Bronco the way you want. Not to mention waiting a year or more on most models. Oh and by the way they all have jumped up in price. I dont understand why they are sittting on the lots lol.. Smh
Ya that's why my ass just bought a Mazda CX-5 lol. Comfy. Good on gas. Awd. Affordable. I'll just put better tires and lift it an inch. I should be good.
Its not pronounced Willys, but pronounced Willis. For 2024, Jeep made the Premium Soft Top standard (this used to be a $695 option) and dropped the cheaper vinyl soft top. Nothing against a hard top, but most people will take it off once and find out what a huge ordeal it is to remove it and then you have to figure out where/how to store the hard top. Even in cold climates, the premium (twill) soft top is fine and much much easier to raise/lower the top in minutes vs the hard top. The larger 12.3” screen is a huge upgrade over the old 5”, 7” and 8.4” screens in previous JLs. For 2024 Jeep also upgraded the seats with better materials and cushions. Convenience group for $1995 is a deal for all you get and I would not pass on that. To me, a base Sahara with no options seems to be the best deal for 2024
My Jeep liberty I turned 22 years. Body look absolutely new. I turned it in for jeep gas 2001 Rubicon I hope it gives me 22 years of dependably and fun like my liberty.
I really miss my 2010 JK Sport with manual transmission and manual windows etc. So simple and fun to work on - until I got incurable death wobble after a lift and sold it for a 2016 Rubicon JK
We have an 08 JK Sport with manual everything! We love it for many reasons, but I think we are going to sell it and go to one of the 4-doors. I love the simplicity of the vehicle, but then I also find it a bit annoying to have to reach across to roll down the window, lock the door, etc. At times that is a safety concern. But such a sweet, fun, simple vehicle overall! :)
I rented a brand new 4xe and it was pretty bad. The claimed range is 20 miles, but I got 10ish on normal country highway driving (55-60mph). After the battery was depleted my gas mileage was approximately 20mpg. Not worth it in my opinion
I rented a 4xe for a trip from DC to the outer banks. Running on the 4cyl I saw 20 - 22 mpg on hwy. While in the Outer Banks I ran on electric only for four days. I can see the value. It was a great experience... just not sold yet that its what I want for a daily. Got the 4xe from Avis for a decent rate.
My Jeep wrangler choices are now down to the Sport and Willy’s models with limited options. Also I would go with the 2 door. I like the sarge green color because it goes with the black wheels better. I miss the tan seat option though. I not going to be picky with the engine. I can live with the turbo if I get the automatic. But I an not going to spend the substantial cost for the 4xe.
I really want to get a Jeep but as you say, the pricing is getting ridiculous. Saw a 2024 Sport S 2 door that just landed here in my parts yesterday, Auto, hardtop, Earl paint, nice big 1941 sticker on the hood, a couple other options. $62k in my country plus fee's and taxes, that'll put it over $70k and then there's still financing charges on top of that since I don't have a spare $70k in cash burning a hole in my pocket. Absolute craziness. Whats worse is everytime the price goes up on the new ones, the used ones follow suit so even the 2020's are going for around $40k in my area, plus or minus a bit depending on model/mileage. It's frustrating.
Things i fopund out aaat the dealer, you can no longer order a '23 even though their build still shows it as an option. My order was denied. The '24 Rubicon cant get powered seats or leather, you need to upgrade to the Rubicon X. The Rubicon X only comes with the extreme wheel package. You can not order it without it.

If you get a willy's or Rubicon do you have to get the power windows and power locks? I have a 2016 JKU sport 3.6l 6 Spd manual with out power windows and power locks. Makes the doors so much lighter. Less things to break.

@@alwaysdman94 Reliability, and longevity. We easily keep vehicles 10+ years. anything powered or automatic removes the users fine control of it. While manual locks and windows can break, its normally due to abuse or misuse, not age. Respect your vehicles and keep then serviced and they can last way longer then the norm. Power locks like to snap lever arms, power windows like to chew up regulators. All these things would be felt before they break on manual control options. Stop, don't force it, lubricate or adjust what's needed and no need to order/replace new parts.
@@IanNubbit : How is this for reliability & longevity. I still own a 1st gen '02 4x4 Tundra that I bought new in '02. My power windows/locks/sideview mirrors are all original & still working fine after 21+ years of use. In fact, the truck hasn't needed anything but routine maintenance since I bought it. But then again it's not a Jeep.
@@oneslackr People (Like me) associate (for good reason) power/automatic options with issues and failures. I hate auto trans, yes alot of the time they work just fine, but you have no control, you pick one of 4-5 options, and it decides what to do with that input (on modern vehicles almost entirely computer regulated at that). Power windows and locks at least for me, I see fail all the time, not everyone will fail, but the ONLY failed manual variants are from abuse or neglect. I see destroyed motor gears, most commonly the regulator just tears into spaghetti, with power, you won't know this is coming besides maybe the window goes up or down a little slow, with manual, you'd feel that resistance and know something's not going right well before failure. Manual locks all the same, those lock actuators are strong, they need to be, so if a cable is binding, it's just going to snap it or the snap the latch assembly holding the cable. Then you end up with that buzzing sound when you hit the lock button (super common on Grand Caravan's/Town & Country's for example.) Some people like the "For life, no service" style of vehicles that are being made now, they like the simpliciaty. From someone who works on them for a living, I hate it. Consumers enjoy the throw away aspect of cars. After 100k miles on basically any car being made now, it's either a ticking time bomb of powertrain failure waiting to happen, or the available list of parts, or the cost of those parts and the price of labor along with the numerous special tools and software licenses needed just to install simple parts (Like a fricken windshield) put it completely out of the realm of repair over replace. It sucks, but it's the world we live in. Some modern FCA products, If I replace a window motor, I have to have access to dealer software to reset codes, calibrate the new motor and it's travel, along with the fact the motor is closer to the $1,000 range. Long story short if for some reason you actually read this whole thing, I can fix what is simple, manufacture have made basically all electronics items over engineered and I'd rather just not have it. Even wrangler do stupid crap like have 2 different door latch sensors, on the same door, so if one fails, it lets you know, that you have to replace the whole latch, oh, you'll also have a check engine light in the meantime, start/stop won't work, and if it's an automatic, auto park will slam you into park when you go to take of 3 times before allowing you to actually drive away. For a door latch. This is why I don't want any of it. Even pulled out the door harness completely in out JL and JT (with manual locks and windows), because we don't want to ever have to deal with it.
Disadvantages of the 4xe are that the batteries take up a big chunk of cargo space. It’s great for around town, but for off roading and longer trips I don’t think it’s the best option. Plus the regenerative breaking is kind of weird. I was having a hard time choosing between the 4cyl and 6 cyl in automatic, but after hearing your review I decided to pay the extra cash for the V6.
Tommy, sounds like you could build a Willy’s 4xe and morph your to builds into one. I hopefully will be getting a 2024 4xe soon. I am glad they upgraded the safety to the refreshed model.

I was thinking about selling my built 2020 JLUR for a 2024 JLR, but I just can’t justify the extreme jump in price o er the past 3 years. A similarly spec’s JLR was about 6k more than the JLUR. And that’s with the difference of 4 doors to a 2 door. Not worth it… I see why JeepsbRe piling up on the dealer lots now…
Love Jeep but hate they way they nickel and dime you. As much as they're charging now, you'd think all models would come standard with LED lights as well as no charge for an automatic transmission. The new Grand Cherokees come standard with automatic transmission and LED's with no upcharge (even the Compass) so why do us Wrangler guys have to pay extra for it? They have every right to do whatever they want but just leaves me with a bad taste in my mouth.

Tommy... What is the info or word on your red 'willys' 2 door jeep you had or used to had. Did I miss an update with what you did with it???
I know it may seem like jeep is saving you money with these options but you can get the most expensive arb bumpers front and rear with a 12k lb badland winch for 3000 and there’s no way it should cost you more than 500 for install and you get much better products for off-roading.
I thought the tax credit for the 4xe was now just $3750.
TFL doesn't want to get their brand new lift dirty in their brand garage
Agreed. Really stupid.
Price increase. They aren't selling now due to price.
No full float rear axle with the Xtreme Recon seems terrible. That should definitely have the full float rear axle!
I just got a 24 Willys 4xe with the main packages on it. MSRP is high but after incentives it was in the low 30s which is great.
My jeep build is Jeep rubicon, sage green, renforcement, rock sliders, 3 piece hard top, nav, steel bummpers with winch, convenience, tech, xtreem 35 tire, 3.6 with 8 speed atuowith 4.56 rear gear ratio
I have the 2024 Willy’s 4xe with 30,000 miles now and still loving it and does more than what I need it for lol
V4 is fiat
It can be applied immediately I think if the vehicle is leased. But I am not the expert by any means. Due Diligence is required. :-)
I e had several soft top jeeps since 1993, and even living in Chicago, I've never had an issue with cold weather .... they heat up pretty fast...
Why isn’t it an option for most people to get the standard transmission?? Why would anyone choose to not drive a standard transmission
If you can’t drive manual transmission you should be buying a renegade
I would include the air intake, the bumper group, and the larger tires
You can’t add body colored fenders etc until you get the rubicon x
Will a 2023 grill fit the 24? I hate new grill.
Do you know if the new 2024 rubicon 4xe also has a 5000lb tow rating??
I wonder when/if the JL will have the hurricane twin-turbo inline-6 high output engine?
Very happy I got a 3.6 on my jlu. Thanks for the advice👍.
@@susaneasterly 4 doors definitely need power locks and windows!
I don’t daily drive a Wrangler…ever! So I’ll just buy a nicely loaded 3.6 Rubicon, with close to 100k used for a lot less. Drive it like I stole it.
Jeep has since raised the price of the paint from $495 to $595... When will the price hikes stop?
I rented a brand new 4xe and it was pretty bad. The claimed range is 20 miles, but I got 10ish on normal country highway driving (55-60mph). After the battery was depleted my gas mileage was approximately 20mpg. Not worth it in my opinion
If it’s a 3xx or 4xx lease, then it’s worthy
I rented a 4xe for a trip from DC to the outer banks. Running on the 4cyl I saw 20 - 22 mpg on hwy. While in the Outer Banks I ran on electric only for four days.
I can see the value. It was a great experience... just not sold yet that its what I want for a daily. Got the 4xe from Avis for a decent rate.
Also I think the batteries weigh 700 lbs extra. What happens to your payload?
How can they charge over $30,000 for a vehicle that doesn't have power windows or power locks?
Is there a difference in price between the Lease option you chose over the buy?
Of course. If you lease you are just throwing money away like an idiot.
You can not order it without it.
they have now changed it where you can get a 3.6l with the automatics on lower trims according to the website
Will the Willy’s gladiator get a rear locker ?
Outrageous pricing.
I won’t a manual been driving them since I was younger, I started w my cheaper cars clearing how ta drive them w the stick. However which keep brand should I get I mean I won’t the best but I don’t care for a large engine. Long as it last a long time!
The base model has old fashioned radiator grill?
4 doors definitely the way to go, had the 2 doors and never going back!
Unfortunately many complaints has been filed due to catching fire during plug in, or even when parked, they’re advising not to park inside garages, near a house but on the street I AM NOT MOVING FORWARD IN BUYING ONE BECAUSE OF BATTERY 🪫 PLUG IN ISSUES…😢😢
Does the ‘24 Willys come standard with a D44 in the rear? If I remember right, all JKs did.
If you get a willy's or Rubicon do you have to get the power windows and power locks? I have a 2016 JKU sport 3.6l 6 Spd manual with out power windows and power locks. Makes the doors so much lighter. Less things to break.
I’ve got a nice little letter from Jeep that says they are currently not taking orders for manual transmissions on the 2024 models. I’ll happily email it to you, but you can also contact Stellantis customer service and they’ll send it to you as well. I’m probably going to buy a Willys with the 2.0 and the automatic, and it better be all Jeep promises or my next one after that will be another Taco or a Bronco.
damn, did you try placing an order for one? I was planning on upgrading from my 2012 soon but would only get a 6speed one.
@@Daman11P I have. Before I pulled the trigger I wanted to do some research so I contacted Stellantis directly. I have a nice letter they emailed me where configurations are limited and they aren’t taking orders on the 6 speed manual right now. Since I’ll be driving mine from the coastal Southeast out west some, I’ll take the 2.0 and automatic since they come with the Xtreme 35 on the Willys, but I’m still disappointed in the options.
it is so heart-breaking that the diesel available only on gladiator and not on wrangler. it was very bad idea.
Thank you tommy I was really hoping you would cover this since you own one. Can we get a little update on yours. The miles and everything if you want. Love you bud I’m so proud of you.
I'm 99% confident he sold his little Willys jeep.

I will say THANK YOU for keeping manual windows and locks. Literally the only thing keeping this as an open option to purchase for me and the wife
Just curious why
@@alwaysdman94 Reliability, and longevity. We easily keep vehicles 10+ years. anything powered or automatic removes the users fine control of it. While manual locks and windows can break, its normally due to abuse or misuse, not age. Respect your vehicles and keep then serviced and they can last way longer then the norm. Power locks like to snap lever arms, power windows like to chew up regulators. All these things would be felt before they break on manual control options. Stop, don't force it, lubricate or adjust what's needed and no need to order/replace new parts.
@@IanNubbit good answer 👌🏽
Without buying the convience package the sport s still comes with AC though right?
Thank you, TFL Expert, for this comprehensive and detailed buyer's guide!
V4 is fiat
Tommy, sounds like you could build a Willy’s 4xe and morph your to builds into one. I hopefully will be getting a 2024 4xe soon. I am glad they upgraded the safety to the refreshed model.
Jeep advertised that we can get 35's on a two door now. But, I do not see it on the configuration tool. Any info on this?
Remember the power numbers on the 4 turbo has to have PREMIUM FUEL to achieve the power numbers.
Not good
I just purchased a 2024 Jeep rubicon in November can I add the extreme recon package at the dealer ? Can I place or order for that package and have it installed ?
Can you please explain what hte 'Technology Group' offers on the Rubicon trim? What the heck is the difference between UConnect 5 12.3" screen on the package and the non-package? Just navigation? I do not see a need to add this package to the Rubicon since it comes standard with a few of the options included or mentioned in the package, no?
My question, will the engine charge the battery if it’s depleted or is it solely plug in?
You have made a mistake. You can also get Willys with a v6 motor and an automatic transmission.
Dont you get side curtain airbags, brake assist and adaptive cruise? That is on the Sport S and above? Thinking part of price jump?
I was thinking about selling my built 2020 JLUR for a 2024 JLR, but I just can’t justify the extreme jump in price o er the past 3 years. A similarly spec’s JLR was about 6k more than the JLUR. And that’s with the difference of 4 doors to a 2 door. Not worth it… I see why JeepsbRe piling up on the dealer lots now…
Too expensive. Wait.
Tommy would love to hear your experience owning a manual. Is this something you would do again as a daily driver?
Love Jeep but hate they way they nickel and dime you. As much as they're charging now, you'd think all models would come standard with LED lights as well as no charge for an automatic transmission. The new Grand Cherokees come standard with automatic transmission and LED's with no upcharge (even the Compass) so why do us Wrangler guys have to pay extra for it? They have every right to do whatever they want but just leaves me with a bad taste in my mouth.
With all the videos Tommy made on why he bought that little 2 door Willys Jeep I think it's hilarious he just quietly, without basically even talking about it... sold it off like a year later and basically doesn't even mention it anymore...
What happened? Realized how impractical a tiny 2 door with roll up windows was in real life?
Do the power seats give you more headroom?
I’m 6’ 5” and sat in one at Jeep Beach. I feel it definitely offers a more comfortable seating position.
@@TealOxAdv thanks .. I’m 6’5” as well and my head hits the sound bar. I worry about being rear ended. I’ll wait to sit in one on the lot, it kept me from buying on last year.

Probably because he bought one, said he liked it (more than likely didn't due to lack of trunk space) and then sold it after a year and hasn't talked about it since.
Did jeep remove or relocate the problematic accessory battery?
I really like the one touch soft top.
But how good is it in wet weather? Does anyone have any experience with it? I know that a new one would be great. But is there any water leaks during strong rains? Is it cold or what if there is snow buildup and it starts to melt?
I just ordered one. Hopefully all that's been resolved lol

$88,090 starting price for the Rubicon 392 !?!?
Yikes!
According to Google, the 4xe only gets half the federal tax credit, it must fail one of the two criteria, and when you fail one of them you get half and if you fail both you get none.
Thank god I bought my JT in 2021 so I could get the V6 auto! Can't live with being tiny-engine-turboed!
