Intro to Flexural Concrete Member Design!

Hi guys! I hope you find this video helpful! I plan to slowly introduce the concepts of concrete design on this channel based on CSA A23.3. We cover specified effective depth, area of steel reinforcement, reinforcement ratio, concrete cover, and rebar spacing in this video. The following question is covered.
A simply supported reinforced concrete beam has the following cross section as shown. This beam is reinforced with 6-25M bars in two layers with a concrete cover of 50 mm. The concrete mix has a max course aggregate size of 20 mm. Determine the:
a) Effective depth ( d )
b) Area of steel reinforcement ( As )
c) Reinforcement Ratio ( p )
