Celebrini is consistently producing. Ferraro actually learned the puck belongs in the opposing team's net. Sharks are way better than they were last year Professor.
One underrated thing i liked about smith's game tonight is that he was willing to take more hits to make plays. Also hes starting to create more space for himself which was his biggest issue early. Smith with space is one of the most dangerous players in the league.
Eklund is low key my fav player right now. Dude has a couple seasons under his belt and is turning into an assist machine. He is the closest to consistently being able to follow up Celebrini plays. Dude GETS IT.
Celebrini takes a puck in the faces and it slows him down for literally less than 2 seconds. Never want to wish for a player to be hurt but surely Goodrow can rest up for like 1 more game so Warsofsky can see the difference without him in the top 9. Crazy how the sharks PP2 gets Klim Kostin added to it and that looks like a HUGE improvement
Professor, lots of buzz of the comparison of Celebrini and Bedard. Do you think he can be better than Bedard? Or is he better than Bedard? I personally love Celebrini’s game a lot more. He’s got that mamba mentality.
I’ve seen Bedard play a few games, and he’s an incredible player as well. Elite shot, good skating, insane vision and hockey IQ. From an offensive perspective, he may have an edge over Celebrini. Where Celebrini makes up for it is pretty much everything else. Defensively, Celebrini is way ahead of where Bedard was at this time. Faceoffs as well are a big deal for centers, and Celebrini is just a bit below 50% while Bedard is below 30% right now. I think you could go back and forth on it, and it’s certainly possible Bedard wins out, but right now I’d take Celebrini for my team if I had to choose.
I would say Bedard is a better offensive player. Celebrini, overall, is a better player. Bedard is a player who helps you win. Celebrini is a player who leads you to a win.
It’s crazy that this was easily the Sharks best game all season and they lost. Absolutely dominate performance. My takeaways 1. Ferraro is a God. 2025 Norris for sure 2. Who is this new Kunin who can handle and shoot? 3. Smith and Celebrini looking amazing. I thought Smith was all over it tonight really hoping he gets more ice time. 4. I love Blackwood but man he really let us down tonight. He’s gotta have at least 2 of those for us.
I remember hearing from devils fans that we should never be too excited about blackwood. He can be really good for a game or a week, but consistency is not there. Definitely his weakest game in teal, though honestly, a couple of those he had basically no chance at.
Fun game to watch, even with the loss. The kids are bringing butts to the seats this season. So Prof, would you please give us YOUR starting lineup, assuming Goodrow and Granlund are healthy? Then maybe Coach W can copy and paste...
Zetterlund-Celebrini-Eklund Smith-Granlund-Toffoli Kunin-Wennberg-Dellandrea Goodrow-Sturm-Grundstrom I think you could swap Celebrini and Granlund or bring in Kostin over someone, but roughly that
100% agree that this was their best game in a long time by far. Will Smith played great IMO and I loved how he battled and crashed the net for his goal. Also, Grier sending askarov down after that great comback win was a total bozo move. but majority of what grier does is head scratching to me. askarov earned back to back starts. blackwood was already on thanksgiving break.
I think Askarov definitely does deserve more looks, but the Sharks I imagine are trying to trade Blackwood to make some room for him. I understand both why Grier doesn’t want to have 3 goalies up in the NHL and why he wouldn’t want to waive one of them.
@@professorhockey trade one of the goalies to dallas or carolina... Casey Desucks is a guarenteed loss when he starts and spencer martin is pure ass. I dont know how much cap space those teams have tho since the sharks cant retain. Tampa and Colorado can also use goalies. again tho, they might be at the cap
With how this first line is clicking once Grandlund is back I’m curious how a Toffoli - Grandlund - Smith second line would look. Probably just wishful thinking on my end though.
An interesting idea, I would like to see more of Celebrini and Eklund together. I don't know if Warwosfky would be willing to drop the Lund line though.
This was a heartbreaker to lose. I knew Ottawa had a low shot count, which was impressive, but I didn’t clock that they went shotless for an entire period
I guess it depends how long Goodrow is out and when Granlund is back. That could be an option moving forward, but I wonder if they may just default to someone like Dellandrea there instead
Smith was awesome tonight! Definitely a fun game even with the loss… so the last few videos you’ve been showing Ferraro on the right and Liljegren on the left, there’s no way that actually happening right?
If he's any good at coaching, then Coach W must see what we all see - the top two or even three lines are better WITHOUT the boat anchor of Goodrow. The A on his jersey stands for "Ancient history"...
One thing I’ve noticed is that as a team the sharks are particularly bad at receiving passes, especially in transition. Lots of whiffs. Maybe it’s more of a passing issue but I think it’s more of a skill issue.
I noticed twice Celebrini made great passes to Zetterlund to put him in alone on the goalie but Zetterlund wasn't moving his feet and didn't get to the pass.
After the first goal by Ottawa you can hear they play the KSI song in the arena the hockey gods simply punished the sharks for such an awful taste in music
He’s reading the game way better I think that development plan at the beginning of the season needs to get tossed out the window he just needed minutes to adjust and get confidence in and out of the lineup is going to affect his performance and it showed what happened when he started more games back to back you can see how he can orchestrate and move the puck in the offensive zone how Celebrini does something we had of nothing last year it’s not just dump and chase but establishing possession and time in the o zone
I was one of those people. I think it is fair to acknowledge that his first few games in the NHL were low impact while also acknowledging that he has looked better in more games as of late. He's looking more and more like he does belong now.
I too thought WS should start the season in the AHL, but I'm happy to see how he's progressing. This was a breakout game for him and it's exciting to see!
I have been hollering about this for the last few weeks. Blackwood is not a good goalie and if the Sharks want to win they need to give Askarov the starting goalie role immediatly. Last nights game was a perfect example of a game the Sharks would have won if Askarov was in goal rather than Blackwood. It’s that simple
I think Blackwood is alright, just somewhat inconsistent. Right now, they are trying to showcase him for a trade, so we need to hope he can have more good performances than bad.
Celebrini is consistently producing. Ferraro actually learned the puck belongs in the opposing team's net. Sharks are way better than they were last year Professor.
Feeling excited about this organization for the first time in years

If we exclude Celebrini, then same for me. Love me some William Eklund

Yeah, there was only a few minutes left in the game so the adrenaline probably kept him going. Absolute warrior.
Agreed PH, I was thinking I haven’t seen this type of sharks game since pav, Thornton and patty days

He could be, Bedard is exceptional as well.
I’ve seen Bedard play a few games, and he’s an incredible player as well. Elite shot, good skating, insane vision and hockey IQ. From an offensive perspective, he may have an edge over Celebrini. Really really impressed with the last 2 performances Ferraro has put on, he’s playing extremely well in all zones

Timo Meier's 5 goal game is still my favourite game in the last 5 years

They didn’t actually go an entire period without a shot, but they did go over 20 minutes consecutively split between two periods without one.
@ ah I see. Good distinction. Still impressive
Profesor, now that Goodrow is injured (hope he feels better). I think it is time for Toffoli to play with Celebrini and Smith.

especially feel this on celebrini passes, feels like the team isn’t on the same level and isn’t anticipating a pass

Andddd here comes Will Smith #2
Hi Professor, I am a graphic design student who’d love to redesign your logo/branding for free. Is there a business email i could reach out to you at?
Do you have Twitter? You can DM me @ProfHockeyYT
Will Smith is not ready for the NHL (according to some at least)
