And America, especially black America, is in all likelihood where it came from. Mot likely brought back by US returnees. Many American customs are being adopted in Barbados and in the wider Caribbean. I left Barbados more than 50 years ago and never knew or heard anything about pot lucks. I was surprised to hear that they are even having wakes for the dead which to me would have been considered blasphemous in the old days for combining food and celebration with funerals. In deed, some island(Trinidad and the Bahamas) did celebrate with wakes but definitely not Barbados. Just would not, could not, do it - unthinkable, you would be spoken about very badly for such disrespect to the dead.(at that time). Cheese-on bread.
@@randyg4571Yes when i heard of the pot luck in Bim, i said that's an American tradition the Bajans copied.😊 But i wouldn't say its black, because its a American thing, regardless of color.

You are so right woody M if the continental Africans travel to the Caribbean for their Holidays it would so rewarding for both. Now you know why there are no direct flights at the moment. Yet the Caribbean is a popular destination for Europeans to go for holidaying. Your Videos are very informative and enlightening.
It’s a deliberate ploy to keep Africans apart for our strength is a great threat to Western powers. Do you know plane fares are higher to the West from Africa, than Europe to Africa. Even the food served from Africa on airlines to Europe is also inferior.

I am delighted to see your content Trudy & Wodemaya. The Rwanda & Barbados government are working on laying the foundation to get direct flights out of Africa to the Caribbean. Barbados has the 3rd oldest Parliamentary Democracy in the Western Hemisphere, the Oldest Jewish Synagogue in North , Central, or South America. The famous buccaneer pirate who later became a plantation owner and Lieutenant Governor of the islands of Jamaica was a runaway indentured servant from the plantation owner in Barbados before he became a pirate of the high seas in and around Jamaica. His name is Sir Henry Morgan. The Draxhall plantation was transported to Draxhall in Jamaica and the first 7 governor of the Carolinas, particular South Carolina, were Barbadian plantation owners. The Balls & Middleton Plantations in the USA imported a lot of slave from the Balls & Middleton Plantations in Barbados. The slave that came out of Africa. The St. James, Goose Creek monument of South Carolina is testimony to some of that history in Charleston South Carolina. St. James is one of the parishes of Barbados. Finally the 19 year old George Washington stayed in Barbados in 1751 when one of his family member was sick. It is the only country outside of the USA that George Washington ever visited. While staying in Barbados at the now called George Washington house over by the Garrison Savanah, he became sick and built-up an immunity to the disease & observed the operation of the British troops in Barbados. With this immunity & knowledge George Washington went on to fight the revolutionary war against the British and later became the 1st President of The United States of America ❤❤❤❤❤❤ So the USA have to thank Barbados for Washington immunity when his troops were getting sick, and the knowledge he gain of the importance of Barbados and the British interest in the Caribbean when they sent about 65 % of their troops to defend their interests in the Caribbean and remainder fought against George Washington and the American forces. Enjoy yourself in my island Barbados even if I live in NYC. Hope this gave you more of the links between Africa, Barbados, Jamaica, and the Carolinas (North & South) in the USA.

For example, if I drop a glass cup and it breaks. "Steups! Cheese on Bread!!!"
Also, of you admite the way a dress 👗 or outfit fits your body and shows your curves, you can shorten it and say, "Cheese onnnn!" 🧀 LOL! Even just saying "Cheeezzz!" 😆 Bajans are 😁😂
You are so right woody M if the continental Africans travel to the Caribbean for their Holidays it would so rewarding for both.
Tobacco, Cotton and Indigo was grown in Barbados before sugar Cane.

Fences in the Caribbean is mostly to protect property boundaries not for security.
This is some great information that I had no idea about! Thanks for sharing… I have taken a screenshot, I will use it.
