It's crazy that you won't hear this man on the radio, but the world recognizes him as one of the greats amongst other country legends, and he sells tickets the same way they do. God bless Tyler Childers
Rights, unfortunately in my country Canada all they play is stupid "country " I almost get mad when I hear it. It's hard fuck off. So happy I found my second favorite ginger. Have to listen everyday ❤
I never realized how popular he was until I tried to get a ticket to his show. Sold out in 10 minutes. He doesn't have a bad song on any of his albums in my opinion.
@@AudibleVisibIe Even to an outsider this song can have a lot of meaning. But for the people from the place where Tyler and Chris came from, this song has layers upon layers of meaning. Now imagine you’re 22 years old with a truck full of your buddies, drunk after the funeral of your best friend, it’s it’s 1am and you’re tearing down 23 headed to Virgie for no good reason but you’re all screaming this song at the top of your lungs the whole way there. Gives it a lot more meaning than just being a catchy tune.
First song of Tyler's I ever heard. Had a buddy send it to me. He said it reminded him of my ma who passed from cancer. Ma had seven sons and that was never enough for her. She took in all our friends too.
Tyler is a quiet man standing with these giants playing his songs and having a blast. He might not be a regular on CMT, but they know he is there and the crowds that come out to listen to him knows who he is. He is not a stranger in the country/folk music circle. Love his down to earth songs....
God bless the mothers, grandmothers, step moms/grandmas, aunts and more who love their boys (and girls) purely and unconditionally as captured here. Such a beautiful song.❤
Tyler had finished his set. And then before Dwight Yoakam started his set, Chris and Tyler came on and did this acoustic version of Follow You To Virgie. I had never heard it live before, I was almost in tears. What a memorable night!
Thanks for posting this Ethan. Growing up our neighbor was like another grandmother to me. She was always my biggest fan with whatever I did. I can still hear her voice "Oh Michael, that is WONDERFUL" She was such a cultured woman, lived in Manhattan for years and worked at the Museum of Natural History and traveled all over. She taught me how to do the NY Times crossword puzzle, which she did everyday until she passed. I remember telling her about a trip to Europe I was going on and she was so exited for me because of all the wonderous things I would see outside of our small town. I never did get to show her the pictures. I live far away now and wasn't home when she passed. Her family didn't do any type of service for her, which was such a shame. She deserved more after the life she lived. This song always makes me think of her and helps me remember her. She was my Virgie. Thanks for writing this Tyler about the wonderful woman in your life and for all of us men that have been fortunate to have wonderful women in our own lives.
Virgie is a town in Kentucky where they laid "to rest this mountain beauty." She was Cody's grandmother, his best friend, and paid a lot of attention to Tyler.
Different premise to the title but This is my favorite song of his and to hear Chris Stapleton sing it with him makes it all the more special! My husband and I met in the Spring of 89" in Ashland, Va. He followed me to Virgie two weeks later and proposed. Three months to the day we met, we got married! Thirty three years,, two grown sons, 7 grandchildren and a daughter n law later; we're still together! ❤️
Congratulations! That's awesome! My husband and I have the longest marriage between our two immediate families! After living away from Va for over 30 years, we moved back to take care of his parents. His Mom, step dad (whom lives in Louisa Co & his Dad whom lives in Quinton. Our sons, daughter n law and two grandchildren live in SC. I don't like it here because I miss our sons and grandchildren. I don't know anyone here.
@@kimberlygrimm7007 Wow. Such a small world. I knew a guy who lived in Louisa (Bumpass). My inlaws lived in Goochland for a while, and most of my family is still in the Richmond area. One son is in Hanover, and the other is in Pensacola, FL, so I understand missing the grandkids! We live at the beach, so we're not too far from our hometown. Congratulations on your 33 years!
Two amazingly talented musicians with distinct voices. Love to hear them both and together even better. That last part made me laugh like hell though 🤣
I think they are both great , and one just adds to the others talent. Their voices compliment each other. I love this. Being from Ky, I admire their respect for one another and I love to hear them together. Beautiful song .
The fact that these young folks choose to use their talent to worship God in a way that draws and inspires others is evidence of God's anointing in their lives. I'm grateful for maverick. More grace
I don't understand why Nashville and record labels don't respect TRUE country artist like these gentleman. They only wanna promote people like Morgan Wallen, Luke Bryan, Kane Brown and people like that who are not even country. Luke Bryan use to be country and then he changed to be more popular.
Johnson Central high School and Paintsville High school well represented. Amazes me to know both my daughters went to school and became friends with these amazing young men.

“There is a legend about a bird which sings only once in it's life, more beautifully than any other creature on the face of the earth. From the moment it leaves it's nest, it searches for a thorn tree, and does not rest until it has found one. Then, it impales it's breast on the longest, sharpest thorn. But as it is dying, it rises above it's own agony to outsing the Lark and the Nightingale. The Thornbird pays it's life for that one song, and the whole world stills to listen, and God in his heaven smiles, as it's best is brought only at the cost of great pain." ~ Colleen McCullough”
I love this song so, so much. And I was a bit disappointed when I realized that Chris really did nothing for this song, but reading through the comments I agree - he knew there was nothing to do. I just tried too. He’s coming near me and it sold out really fast.
And when I saw Tyler it seemed like most people knew the words to most songs. His sonwriting and storytelling is so easy to connect with.
This is, in my opinion, the best song Tyler's ever written. And to come together with Stapleton on this is just perfect!
I'd disagree. Great tune though. Makes my eyes water every time
