i think that would be easier if you approached sideways, at the same angle as the landing deck. This will help you a bunch, as you're facing the wires straight, not sideways, which gives your hook more wire area to hook onto, compared to diagonal. Plus you can easily get away and try again if you use the slope ramp as it's designed to help you quickly get back into the air in case of a failed landing
That carrier is based off of a United States carrier so it has catapults instead of a ski jump on the end. The proper procedure after landing is to go to mil power so in case you miss the cables you can still takeoff

I built a plane that has three SETS of wings. 2 functional sets, and 1 thats just for weight and lift. I did this because my plane kept flipping, so I needed to increase the CoM and decrease the CoL. This game is great.
