  • I wanted to see how these lenses looked on my S5 iiX and I was really blown away by how great they pair together! Shot on the 32mm and 55mm DZOFILM Pavo 2x anamorphic lenses and the LUMIX S5 iiX whilst out on a walk in North Wales.
    These lenses are S35 only but the S5 iiX has a huge range of shooting formats, including S35 4:3 - the frame was then cropped a little in post to give a 2.39:1 aspect ratio. Remember these cameras have a S35 mode allowing you to use S35 lenses and get incredible results (with faster sensor read out speed). Shot in North Wales.

    Stunning work Ed!! The look of the Pavos is so beautiful, but it’s hard to put a finger on why. It’s almost like music and the way it can affect the listener, though they can’t give you an explanation.

      Probably my favourite anamorphic lenses I've shot on to date. Haven't shot on the Remus or Mercurys yet, but I think the Pavos have a fantastic mix of character, manageable size and image quality.

      @@EdProsseryes! A very sweet spot of sorts with these it seems. I just watched the review on Tito Ferradans’ channel again (your pics are much better), and interesting that he says there that when they first appeared at the trade shows, punters criticised the overall pincushioning. Legend goes that DZO listened and ran away to make them more barrelly! Glad they listened…and love the Biotar swirliness on some of them 😊

    Hello, your video is incredible, could you give me some tips to protect the highlights, and get a perfect exposure, I think the highlights are my Achilles' heel on my s5iix.

    • @EdProsser
      @EdProsser  4 месяца назад

      I think it mainly comes with experience, but generally if you want to protect highlights make sure your pulling exposure down in camera to expose for the brightest object in frame.
      You can do this by adding ND, lowering the ISO or shooting in higher frame rates to increase shutter speed, or stopping down the lens.
      In this case I didn't have enough ND and we were shooting at midday with white clouds, so lens was stopped down usually to a T4 and everything is shot in 50fps so I could increase my shutter speed. I then occasionally checked the waveforms to see if anything was clipping. But after shooting on these cams for years you get a good feeling for when something is clipping or about to.
      The clouds are pretty much on the verge of clipping throughout, ideally I'd have had a bit more ND to give me a bit more safety.

  • @rw3452
    @rw3452 5 месяцев назад

    Lovely shots and cinematography. May I ask how much you expose shadow for expectable noise at native ISO’s? I shot something yesterday and found shadows very noisy?

    • @EdProsser
      @EdProsser  5 месяцев назад +1

      I didn't have a proper ND system when shooting with this combo so I was really fighting the light, I was at around ISO 320 and T2.8-T4, so I was mostly over exposing hy a stop or two. If you're getting noise it sounds like your underexposing and / or have too high an ISO

    • @rw3452
      @rw3452 4 месяца назад

      @@EdProsserIn terms of noise I was at either 640 or 4000 and have found the noise higher than I’ve expected plus this is my 3rd camera which seem to be responding differently so I’ve contacted Lumix which so far has not been a good process.
