One thing I would add is that ANY Canadian work experience counts, including volunteer even if it's not related to your career. It's more about proving you have good work ethic and a pleasant personality than it is about hard skills. Potential new bosses will call your references to confirm these things. I've seen some immigrants be too picky at first because they don't want to take a job unrelated to their career, but that just ends up wasting time. Also, your coworkers can be good for future networking too.

Nice video Tobi. Maternity is 15wks plus parental is 35wks. Total is about 52 weeks I got. Eligibility depends on if u have worked for about 600 hrs approx 6 month before birthing.

Maternity leave can also be up to 18 months but the pay would be less than that of 12 months (52 weeks). The pay also depends on 12 weeks of your highest pay 52 weeks prior to your maternity leave called best weeks (it applies to the weeks you worked overtime). However, there is a cap on the pay (a maximum amount a person can be paid especially high income earners).

I am still thinking of which Province to reside in although I do like the sound of Ottawa. I absolutely love the culture in Canada. I will miss the fact that in the UK we normally have around 4 weeks holiday per year depending on your work.

U don’t get free money in this country .every free money you get is the money you already worked for.
The taxes & unemployment insurance you pay is the same money given to people on welfare etc. RRSP is your own money you establish with your bank for private pension. Is not matched . There is a limit the government allows you to contribute annually.
The trick in Canada here is that RRSP contributors are exempted from taxes due to your on going contribution.
Is just a way to dodge taxes but once you start receiving the money after years of contributions.
The taxes you avoid for years will be calculated and taken off at once.
