This is pretty cool but keep in mind that bungie did say they're working on a glaive rework so there's a possibility this movement tech goes away with that rework just like they might just patch this in general. This is also gonna lead to some pretty wicked clips in pvp so I'm looking forward to seeing that

Throughout this year, even up to the current season, everytime I've tried to return to d2 or try to get better on mnk in pvp after being gone from pvp in general for 3 years, I've matched you probably 6 times at least. Was glad my 1st couple interactions with you in comp and ffa were wholesome and you weren't being rude when the skillgaps are so drastic. Remember seeing you snapeskate some matches that made me interested months ago, and also trying out the staple Hynra bow action on Cauldron. Great player, keep it up! I've lately been tryna get into pvp heavy and been makin vids again tho I just accidentally deleted a wrong folder that had so many good games and content. That paired with the state of d2 and the burnout of grinding and playin solo, I've been taking a break and playin Marvel Rivals. I still watch and appreciate good d2 content creators, thanks for being one of them and keepin movement fun and alive in d2.

Man i’ve been gatekeeping the strand snap skating for a while its a great movement alternative to behemoth titans. Also glaive slide canceling stacking with cryo makes for some crazy drive byes

I love to play strand hunter with a hip fire bow/glaive like hynra, but always find myself wishing I could do what warlocks can. Now I have 2 fun movement options to add to my build. do you know why sometimes you get way more momentum from the grapple variant than you usually do? ive been trying to recreate it and ive only managed to do so by doing the inputs AS the grapple recharges. i wasnt sure if i was the only one to notice this or if you knew it but i am willing to provide clips if you havent seen it

I was fine with the handful of deaths on the bridge, but now it’s excessive since I’m just a casual player and thus have a skill issue. The tormentor being added to a room was a smart use of empty space though.

@ it’s the movement equivalent of a strafe jump with extra inputs involved. There is no cool down on jump, so I don’t understand the gain from “grapple skating”. If there is a benefit over just jumping, I didn’t get that from the clips, but open to hearing why you think otherwise.
@ well for starters, it can be done at any momentum to instantly carry and change that momentum to any direction. This means you don’t lose speed, you’ll notice if you’re goin super fast and then immediately try and strafe jump backwards or too far to the left or right you lose some momentum. Secondly it’s instant, can be used to hop ledges. It also allows you to do a more exaggerated strafe jump peak, where you jump and expose yourself to shoot, then strafe back to cover. Headbounces also carry the momentum of the slide cancels extra momentum if you get the timing down. Plus it’s just instant acceleration, doing that mid close quarters fight is crazy, suddenly just instantly accelerating in any direction without the need to sprint

as much as i abuse snapskating on the lock i think this and snapskating should be patched out of the game 100%, they're specifically good in pvp and create unhealthy playstyles for the game with no drawbacks whatsoever.

I come from apex legends, one that prides itself on its movement interactions, so at least coming from a player with that background I think all movement tech has a place in the game. Everyone can learn it, and it’s not even that hard to do, on top of controller being a very strong input within the game. Genuinely don’t see issues with slide cancel tech, even the more intense version with an Icarus dash combo, especially considering the major desync you get with some weapons when accelerating that quickly

I personally love flying around the map at mach speed but in doing so allows the user to do way more things with weapons than intended. Strand grapple grenades make dive weapons stronger, floatlock allows for high damage weapons like 120’s and scouts to really shine by getting unorthodox angles. Lion rampart titan makes bow combos on it very lethal, final warning on dawnblade, smgs on Titan with thruster along with just shoulder charge tech. Certain movement is just better with certain weapons, that’s game wide

Snapskating and other exploit movements require no cost for all the reward except it's even better than everything you mentioned... with that in mind I feel like it's valid that exploit movement needs to be patched.

OTHER than snapskating + Icarus dash, standard slide cancel tech like glaive skating and grapple skating, don’t really have much to properly combo into. The things I’ve found and am testing right now require like, frame perfect timing, it’s insanity. So in the wild, you’ll never fight that, just slide cancelling at base. Slide cancelling is strong yes but, I choose to look at it like more of a separate movement ability akin to a jump (I mean it quite literally is a jump out of your slide), since every class can do it now I see no reason to have it removed. It’s tech everyone can learn, and it’s tech you need to be mindful of when choosing your abilities and subclasses. You give up using that ability cooldown when utilizing this tech, so to me that’s cost enough. Use the ability, and boom, no more movement tech. They’re kept in check because of that, it’s all about give and take. Any decent mnk player should have no problems reacting to a sudden direction change from base slide cancelling too, and hell barely any players actually even utilize it to suddenly 180 mid fight. Legit only ever see people using it to fly forward. I really don’t think it’s an issue at all

Destiny 2 really needs a overall change in movement possibilities. You really just can jump, fly or double jump, crouch, walk and run. You can slide but this isnt even really slding, it is a fixed animation where the momentum is automatically killed, cause sliding has there no relation of how much momentum you need to perform a slide it also dosent give you more momentum, it dosent even work with a jump after that. It is very short and absolutley useless. Take severed steel for an example, very fast paced, you can do literally everything, but destroying the field is to much for d2. I know the engine is technically 20 years old but it is still possible. Yes... D2 sucks with movement. Edit: D2 movement is really depending on class.
@donik4551 eh like, Destiny 2 has its own unique movement, I wouldn’t say it’s bad per day, it fits the pacing of the game and how engagements are handled. To me at least, d2 has some of the most fluid gunplay out there, aside from maybe the titanfall series. I really like it personally, just requires some getting used to, there’s lots of little tricks that making moving in d2 that much more fluid
@@Pandemoniyum Everyone has a different opinion. It doesn't necessarily have to be faster pacing, it's enough if it's presented differently. It would be more fun in my opinion. For example less limitations on movement on class, but this changes also how the game is played based on the class. D2 is just designed for this pacing it has.
@@Pandemoniyum In my opinion, the game in terms of movement is in such a gray area, very good but more focused on speed, less on dodging, if then very specific, but largely dependent on weapons and abillitys.
I think it has more to do with ability efficiency, imagine if you had to get a certain speed to achieve a certain distance due to required momentum. Slide abilities would be much less versatile and more difficult to use resulting in a huge nerf essentially to multiple abilities

@@VAVORiAL strand warlock is VERY strong, specifically for weavewalk. In this ability heavy meta, it’s one of the only hard counters. I promise you, I’ve fought good teams with one, there’s almost zero counterplay

@ bro last night was SO frustrating. I was genuinely going the distance, probably one of my best nights pvp wise. If I bagged you it was either because you were on coldsnap spam or a prism titan player, if not then apologies, I was goin thru the ringer
@ nah I was a warlock you didn’t bag me. The duo on my team got carried a round that I had to 3v1 yall and he started to melee your body. That’s why so I can’t blame u. But the bow/glaive was genuinely horrible to play against. GG nonetheless

Destiny 2 really needs a overall change in movement possibilities. You really just can jump, fly or double jump, crouch, walk and run. You can slide but this isnt even really slding, it is a fixed animation where the momentum is automatically killed, cause sliding has there no relation of how much momentum you need to perform a slide it also dosent give you more momentum, it dosent even work with a jump after that. It is very short and absolutley useless. Take severed steel for an example, very fast paced, you can do literally everything, but destroying the field is to much for d2. I know the engine is technically 20 years old but it is still possible. Yes... D2 sucks with movement.
Edit: D2 movement is really depending on class.
@donik4551 eh like, Destiny 2 has its own unique movement, I wouldn’t say it’s bad per day, it fits the pacing of the game and how engagements are handled. To me at least, d2 has some of the most fluid gunplay out there, aside from maybe the titanfall series. I really like it personally, just requires some getting used to, there’s lots of little tricks that making moving in d2 that much more fluid
@@Pandemoniyum Everyone has a different opinion. It doesn't necessarily have to be faster pacing, it's enough if it's presented differently. It would be more fun in my opinion. For example less limitations on movement on class, but this changes also how the game is played based on the class. D2 is just designed for this pacing it has.
@@Pandemoniyum In my opinion, the game in terms of movement is in such a gray area, very good but more focused on speed, less on dodging, if then very specific, but largely dependent on weapons and abillitys.
I think it has more to do with ability efficiency, imagine if you had to get a certain speed to achieve a certain distance due to required momentum. Slide abilities would be much less versatile and more difficult to use resulting in a huge nerf essentially to multiple abilities
@@pavisposang5006 so you mean if sliding were ''better''? and if sliding is actually ''sliding'' in d2 it is more like an buff, cause momentum is then captured and is always continue. But now its just killing the momentum.
