I realized a while ago that I love the NAME of this brush more than I would love it itself. I somehow imagine a field mouse wearing a cosmos flower on its head like an umbrella and spinning in a gentle rain, tiny mouse arms flailing. But, ANYWAY, my favorite brush, if you ever venture from testing rounds, was a surprise to me. The Jackson's Dagger S.H006 has been real joy for me. And when I first got it, it looked like 5:45 a.m. on a Monday morning. It still does, in fact, when it is dry. But when it loaded with paint it is MAGICAL. Thanks so much for the continued episodes, Oto!

Thank you for this series! Great test sheets, too. I have one small sable I bought decades ago that is an absolutely beautiful performer. I’ve been exploring synthetic brushes but it’s been both an expensive and frustrating adventure. More like this please, and more often. 😁❤️ Thank you again.

I`ve got the Da Vinci series 488 Spin Synthetics brush and it`s a quill brush (my size 3 looks twice as big as that #10), with long bristles and very fine point. I love that brush! And Casaneo quills are already among my favorites.
I SO hope you`ll review their new line of the natural hair imitations, this time the Kolinsky sable hair mimic line - Colineo.
Glad I didn`t buy the CosmoTop spin one, but I love all my Da Vinci brushes.
    Thank you for this review.

I bought this brush (Cosmotop Spin) some time ago and I never liked it. Obviously the name CosmoTop put me off buying any other brushes with the same name. However after your review of the mix B, I bought that one and I totally love the Cosmotop mix B. I have not idea why those 2 brush lines would shore the same name. 😊

You're not the only one with a tiny bent tip, mine was bent too... I really like the brush, so I bought another one, the tip wasn't bent, but after that I bought a smaller size and the tip had that tiny bend in it...ok I've switched to another brand, so some of them are bent and some not, but don't know why

I love mine - I have much smaller sizes though (1-4 rounds).
Looking forward to your next brush reviews, and I’ll go back and check if I missed any.

I have a few Cosmotop Spin brushes which came in a set. They feel quite hard and do not hold much water/ paint. Using them, I have lifted underlying glazes accidentally. Their tip isn’t fine enough to make for good detail brushes. I ended up using them as soft scrubbers to lift out paint for soft light spots. But that could be done with every cheap synthetic school brush. So I call them a waste of money, they simply don’t perform anything so well that the pricing is justified, even not in Germany.

Totally agree on everything you said here. I was quite disappointed when I tried one a long time ago. This brush is one of their worst products.

Cosmotop Mix B are a brush for many uses in my brush box. I have sizes 4,6,8,16 and a whopping 22 as well as a sword/dagger shape 16. They are snappy medium hard, I find, and work OK when I don't want to have too much water (except with the 22) I really like the dagger / sword shape to paint flowers and the round 22 to paint big surfaces. Since they don't hold as much water as others (Casaneo, or squirrell Silver Brush, for example) they give me more control of the water /paint ratio. True that they do good dry brush strokes or belly drag painting very well. I wouldn't call them my all time favourite, but they are OK for general purposes (swatching, background painting) I also use them for gouache sometimes.

I have the mix b on my wishlist...but not this one. The angle and shape of the point doesn't appeal to me. Your review was really helpful, thanks Oto! :)

I did not like this brush because it wasted too much paint. I prefer the pointed softer water colour brushes that hold more water and are smooth to paint with. I'm enjoying this series on brushes Dr. Oto. Please make some videos on natural hair brushes for watercolour.

I ordered that brush 2+ years ago and it arrived damaged. Had to send it back, haven’t recovered from that enough to try again.
    (I wanted to like it.)

@@OtoKano I thought that they were available on Jackson's. Sorry, I must have confused Jackson's with another place. Thanks anyway 😃
