People might dismiss someone with a heavy Southern accent as being ignorant, or hillbilly, but this gentleman is quite intelligent. I don't live all that far away from him and used to mingle with those like him, yet I stayed clean and out of trouble. Which direction you go in life is simply the byproduct of choices made. As they say, it's a matter of "one turn off the trail." Hang tough, Sonnie.
Some people have character issues. Some people have not been taught how to live honestly, decently, and with structur and discipline.. If breaking the law is all you have ever known, how to change in your 40s? Nature or nurture.
He just layed out the problem right from the begining. Now is the time for someone to finally figure out how to help him succeed. I wish him the very best. His momma spent too many years with a broken heart. I feel really bad for her too.

This video is a great example of why we need to focus on rehabilitation for those who are incarcerated. It’s also a great illustration of why connection is important - whether thats friendship and/or family. Best wishes, Sonnie.

I lost my dad last year to an overdose and I’d give anything to hear him be inspired to change and make things right. Your daughters need you. Your possible future grandchildren need you ❤
I went to the dentist in 2004 to have a tooth pulled and he gave me 90 …. 90!!! Vicodin.. that started a spiral that too me a bit to get out of. They were so reckless with the scripts.
Watching these two videos of the inmates back to back was striking - one in absolute denial and one who accepts the blame and acknowledges responsibility.
I have never seen someone take so much responsibility being in his shoes. You can do this, Sonnie! You have the best motivation and a heart for change. IM ROOTING FOR YOU!
My hope for this man is that he recognizes his wisdom, if he hasn’t already, and harnesses the help he needs to move forward and be the father he wants to be. I have faith in him that this is possible.
I went to rehab a year ago for the first time here in Western Kentucky and the amount of people exactly like him I met is astounding. Life experiences down to their mannerisms. These addicts who weren't dealt the best cards in life are typically amazing people who will give you the shirt off their back. Sadly many of these acquaintances relapsed and back to their old ways. I have had lapses myself I must admit. Praying for all these suffering individuals and I am happy that for a moment I saw a side of them and they saw a side of me not many people see.
I see beauty in Sonnies eyes & soul…he’s been surrounded by dysfunction & never had a chance. A child that was never protected. His daughters are his focus, purpose & lifesource. I hope 🙏🏻he can stay away from drugs & see the better side of living w/o them. He has lots of life left to get to experience the joy of it & maybe even help bring others who need help into the light. Wishing this man all the goodness!
Sonnie, you can do it! It's tough, but it's so worth it! And guess what? You can fail at doing negative things, too. I failed to have a drink today, and I'm glad about that! You know what you have to do, and you can do it - but get a support system! Mark, I hope you update us on Sonnie, too.
This interview was deep! Much respect to this man. I wish you nothing but the greatest success in defeating those demons and for you to overcome all those tiny battles that no one realizes is a big thing for you to overcome so the old you doesn’t come back up to the surface
I love his accountability and desire to change. It is coming across as truly genuine. He really seems to want to turn a new leaf. So glad that he shared his story, and I wish him well in his sobriety and future goals.
Best of luck when you get out Sonnie! It sounds like you have really turned a corner in your life - nothing like the love of your children to straighten a guy out. Keep on truckin' brother. There's plenty of life left to live and good memories to make. All the best to you.
Sonnie seems like he has a good heart and totally acknowledges everything he's done wrong, which is big. I truly hope the best for him and I hope he gets more happy memories with his mom and daughters. ❤️

Mark, you've found a good human that you can really help and that would really appreciate a hand up. Not that person that likes drugs acting like an idiot, running the streets of LA. I wish Sonnie the best. Wow. A daughter that's a Corrections Officer. I hope he never puts her in a position that she has to have him arrested. That would totally break him. Best of luck Sonnie.
Then, you don't understand that addiction is a disease. It's a family disease 😢
@@bobbsybinninger904 Uh....yeah. You don't understand that I wasn't criticizing. I was making an observation, but thanks Captain Obvious
Some people have character issues. Some people have not been taught how to live honestly, decently, and with structur and discipline.. If breaking the law is all you have ever known, how to change in your 40s? Nature or nurture.
My son is an addict and he’s very intelligent.
That's because they believe Hollywood's stereotypes about the south.
I hope the best for this man. He seems sincere with a good heart
I wish this was the typical length of video but I wish my man the best of luck
Sending light to him!
He just layed out the problem right from the begining. Now is the time for someone to finally figure out how to help him succeed. I wish him the very best. His momma spent too many years with a broken heart. I feel really bad for her too.
Hearing him talk about his first love is heartbreaking. Sonnie, I'm sure you've been told a million times: YOU are TOO handsome to be a criminal! Wishing you *courage* & strength to stay sober, get out of there, and to focus on fatherhood! (Remove the 2 "lightening bolts" ASAP). Lots of love & hugs! Stay strong, man! 💜✌
I hope everything works out for you Sonnie. Thank you for sharing your story. ❤
Powerful, Mark. Thank you. I wish Sonnie strength and continued recognition of what he has, and what can take it away from him.
God bless you Sonnie. Don’t be afraid of failure. Be afraid of giving up. We are all bound to fail in some way but we’ve got keep trying. Your determination to never give up will be what your kids and grandkids admire. God never asks us for success, only faith.
This video is a great example of why we need to focus on rehabilitation for those who are incarcerated. It’s also a great illustration of why connection is important - whether thats friendship and/or family. Best wishes, Sonnie.
I truly enjoyed this one mark. I can relate to this man unfortunately
Thank you for your willingness to be interviewed by Mark!
Enjoyed this one. Wishing Sonnie the best
Wow. That was sad and uplifting. Very great interview. Love the channel. Hope the best for him and his family.
I am very hopeful for Sonnie! He really wants to do right by his children. He realizes his mistakes and is taking his sobriety seriously. Mark, I hope that you will revisit this gent! ✌🏾
You are breathing so there is still a chance to turn everything around. It seems like you really want a better life and I hope you get out and make it happen!! I lost my dad last year to an overdose and I’d give anything to hear him be inspired to change and make things right. Your daughters need you. Your possible future grandchildren need you ❤
Sonnie is very reflective and thoughtful about his life and the mistakes that he has made. High hopes for him.
Doctors prescribing vicoden like candy years back and riding off into the sunset without a care caused some big problems for people.
I went to the dentist in 2004 to have a tooth pulled and he gave me 90 …. 90!!! Vicodin.. that started a spiral that too me a bit to get out of. They were so reckless with the scripts.
Yup. I’m one of them. 1996 used to get 3-4 refills of 85 pills of 750 Vicodin. And that was it. The worst road ever !
Watching these two videos of the inmates back to back was striking - one in absolute denial and one who accepts the blame and acknowledges responsibility.
Prayers for him,& his family too.
I see good things in Sonnie's future. His children will be so proud of their dad if and when he stays sober. It's never too late.
No it’s never too late and I’m so proud of his strength in even doing this.
Especially with his daughter being a correctional officer I’m sure she sees people end up in bad situations so I’m sure she’ll protect him from it.
Thank you for recording and posting this valuable educational video.
There’s something very special about him. You can tell that he’s tired of the lifestyle and that he’s gonna make it this time around. Best of luck to you Sonnie, you got this!
Yep, he has a presence! As someone mentioned, he could do well on Social Media perhaps to help w/sobriety & earn an income.
Sonny, I wish you the very best. You appear so genuine. Thnx Mark!
Wishing him the very best.
Thank you for spreading awareness Marc love you!💜

He looks amazing for 41 with 2 decades behind bars!! Sonnie I wish you all of the luck, you have a great head on your shoulders. Keep striving to do good for yourself and your kids. 🙏❤️
What a sweet guy. I so wish him the best, he really deserves it.🙏🇨🇦
So much hope for you Sonnie! I hope you succeed and live the good life you want to. All the best.
You can stay clean and do good if you really want to. You're walking on that road right now.
Handsome father you have, very honest and doesn't bs. Wish him the best!!! ✨️💓
Pray for you brother hope you find peace and the right direction for your life
One of my favorite interviews. Thank you.
Wish him all the best!
Bro. You are going to make it. You are going to win. I can feel it. I’ve listened to hundreds of Marks videos and you’ve got the best attitude, the most commitment and best outlook to be successful. You will do it - for yourself and for your babies. Never quit, Sonnie. Ever.
What a great interview. More like this would be amazing.
Powerful story. Stay sober and well wishes from across the globe.
i hope this guy keeps on keeping on !!!
