Pure, nature sound ambience and video images in portrait format from the special time in spring where the old plum tree in my garden is blooming. This is the time the bees are having a dance while pollinating the tree. I find it specially fascinating with the sound from the bees. It is intense but also very calming and in the white noise genre of experimental sound works and music.
The piece is inspired by the deep ecology philosophy, enhancing the importance of ecological balance in nature. Regarding to this philosophy I allow myself to be childlike curious of my home environment and work from this space of creativity. Mirabelle´s Bloom is a part of my overall concept Wild, Domesticated where I research the contrasts between the civilised world and the important remaining true wildlife that we still see around us.
From the subtitles in the film:
"This is an old kind of plum tree. She has lived here during several decades. She is grown from a plum stone, and does not need to be grafted as modern trees to give fruit. She is called Mirabelle or Prunus domestica, developed from a wild sort of old plums called Prunus insititia, in the rose family. She is wearing long thorns for protection. One week every year she flowers in various volumes and gives room for the bees in the neighborhood while being pollinated, and for the people and birds here to enjoy. "
The location is in Nordre Frogn on a peninsula by the Oslo fjord.
