The mclaren engineer’s excuse for the understeer is bs. All Sennas seem to suffer from this issue. I remember watching Chris Harris review the Senna and he complained about understeer a lot. This reason is Mclaren for some reason tends to put relatively narrow front tires on their cars compared to their competitors. I don’t know why mclaren does this especially on a hardcore track car like the senna. For comparison the senna has 245 front tires while the Porsche GT2 RS has 265 fronts.
Why did they make it understeery when no one is going to push this car on the streets! The McLaren owners who take these on track are not all idiots who can’t drive(a few exceptions...) Seems odd and ruins the experience for those who can really drive. Still bonkers though :)
Henry Catchpole said the same thing; too much understeer. Senna has a 70mm tire/3 inch wheel width stagger, should have had a 60mm tire/2.5 inch wheel with stagger; 265/35r19 on 19x9.5 and 325/30r20 on 20x12.
This understeer is factory induced because they’re afraid people are going to kill themselves with it. You can easily fix this with a track alignment which unfortunately for this test they didn’t do. Other track focused cars such as GT2RS and Pista have the same issues from factory (see Robert Mitchell at Apex Racing videos).
@@LeopardLX Yep, safety for the street and getting used to the car on the track and with an alignment just enough front end grip to not be annoying. My suggested tire/wheel combo also a option for the mod minded people.
Another great ‘Pro Racer’s’ video. But Harris is right about the Senna - not a great road car, and if you want to be fast at the track buy a real GT3 racer. It’s cheaper and faster.
@@andresantel2137 I haven't seen any, anywhere. But my point was that it is a track focused car, but what does that mean? Who is going to use it on the road for anything other than going to a track? So why not make it full on track and people will just have to endure some discomfort until they get to the track. Otherwise, they risk it being compromised in both settings. The giveaway is that they did a track version of it as well.

So they custom stitched the headrest but couldn’t be bothered to put some new tires on it or align it

Actually, McLaren does go with the wheel-well vents. 600LT and upcoming 765LT both feature wheel-well vents.

If they didn't set it for the street the ride will be rougher than it is, McLaren realized that very few owners will actually use the Senna on track

@@earthstick McLaren made it to be the fastest road car on track, McLaren just can't just set it to track settings since it's still a road car
It doesn't make sense that it would need a "track" setup, to be performed by McLaren engineers. That's no longer street-car category.
