This is insane, thanks for so much hard work. Without this kind of hard work we'd easily lose this history. Your dedication is 200% man, thank you. Here are a few fun facts to piece together some missing pieces. The WSS/AWS EP was released through James records which was based out of Barnsley but at the time we didn't really know what a 'label' did and were excited by the prospect of having one, but instead of the usual things a label would do like manufacturing, every copy of the split is actually made at home by me, each cover printed & the CD's copies on my computer with a label maker to make them look a little more 'pro' haha. The 'Mats' track that surfaced somehow is actually an old college project of mine (good guess) and never linked to Sleeps! While I was running a very DIY home studio where we recorded all this stuff I used to often make electronic music & midi stuff. The studio was called StudioThirtySeven but I don't think much exists online. That's also why the other tracks you've found 'Paying The Price, etc etc aren't part of releases as we just used to record singular tracks & release them on myspace. There's actually a few more that haven't surfaced here that potentially never made it to the internet. I will do a deep dive in my old HD's in storage one day and try and put the timeline together. Thanks for your support man, all the
Mat Welsh Thank you so much for the insight. So much music has been lost to time which is why we started this project. If you want to listen to the college project again, I can send you the full file. Wonder how that got online and even went as far as Russia. Crazy. Thanks for the share too. I hope you find everything you made. I’d love to help with a digital museum/timeline type thing of the band if that’s something you’d be looking to do :)
Insane job by the vault, and how kind of one half of THE RIFF GODS Mat Welsh to share some information with you! Love stuff like this, especially when its my favourite band 👌❤
Dude! I have 3 WSS songs from the MySpace days, before Loz became vocalist. Think they added me way back in the naughties when they were trying to get their name out there. Didnt know much about them and well, I heard Crows when it released and was blown away immediately, but didnt even realise it was the same band until some years later haha. Listening to all the music I have on shuffle, "Gepetto" came on and I started to dig myself, and thats how I found this video. The other two tracks, I haven't seen you mention anywhere. "Security" and "In Death". I see Mat commented in here about other songs that he'd struggle to dig out but he might have a look for us, well I think these are them. On a separate note im a long time WSS fan, seen them live a lot of times, Sean once threw his guitar into a crowd to crowdsurf midway through song and it hit me square in the face. Oh, the memories.
Hey Wayne, thanks for the comment. Do you mind sending the tracks over email to me? It's themetalcorevault@gmail.com. The guitar in the face must have hurt! I didn't ever get a chance to use MySpace when it was popular. It was just before my time. To be honest, I don't see Mat digging out the old tracks any time soon so anything you could send over would be a great help!
This video is probably the best underground video that i found on youtube. Great fucking job!! I wish more people knew about this EP and this video in metalcore community.
Brilliant documentary man. Absolute blast seeing all this again. You've done us all a massive service by unearthing these songs. It was such brilliant time.
2020 currently sucks, the dedication you have shown so people can re-live what was once a thriving hardcore scene in south yorkshire is just pure nostalgia. still good friends with members of AWS and Rev, they will be so stoked. Kudos brother
Jordan Quigg I’m glad you enjoyed the video man. I’m 23, live in London, and have only been up north a couple times so wasn’t a part of the scene myself. For some reason, the SY scene is really interesting to me!
Dude I can't thank you enough for the hard work you put in there! Very nice video, Gonna listen to some old wss stuff now 😂 hope they'll release something new soon!
Hey, it's in the description. :) The song is called Nightfall from the 1999 Dreamcast game called Shenmue. It was actually sampled in a Kodak Black song called Brand New Glizzy.

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed. Maybe give it a share? :)
@The Vault I already sent it to my friends who love metalcore! (I don't have that many metalcore listeners in my country but still)

Adam Wrightson I’m glad you enjoyed it! I hope it brought you some nostalgia and distracted you from the world for a short while.

Feels crazy that someone was able to re-explore a period of time that was so important to myself and a lot of friends. The SY scene was awesome.

Mate this is fucking crazy. I don't even remember recording those AWS songs its that long ago! Thank you for a trip down memory lane
I remember seeing them around that time at Lucorum Barnsley. The songs with piano arpeggios in the breakdowns were bangers. I think about that a lot!
holyshit man!!! you rock!!!!
i had shivers at the end of the video, clearly can feel the adrenaline rising!
thank you for all the hard work
Thank you!! Glad you enjoyed
