I can attest the tenacious was the beginning of my spyderco addiction. That and the Ontario rat 1 was the the beginning to this madness. Funny how $40 is a jump in the beginning and then slowly but surely you’re looking at $300 plus knives on a regular basis.
Its like drugs .& sex .dealers start you with Pot then you end up with a heroin needle in your arm .I'm sure sex is the same ?you start wanting a quick piece of ass, then you end up with two kids and a mortgage and no sex .but the mortgage lingers on till you die .
I hate being a pessimist ,but life will teach you not to be an optimist soon enough .Look at governments all over the world printing money like there is no tomorrow ,but if they catch some poor bastard stealing 50 bucks or not paying his taxes on time ,to jail he goes .They're destroying our future and bribing us with our own money .Then they give billions to corporations that give bonuses to their executives instead of the little mom and pop stores that need the help .Its Obama all over again .Scum bags run the world and you talk about being dark .Later dude got to get a coffee!
Im left handed and honestly i dont mind the non ambidextrous knives and to be honest i find it harder to close knives right handedly. I think im gonna go for the tenacious g10 with the od green scales with a blacked out blade. Thanks for the video they make me smile all the time.
Watching Frankie cut that knife out of the package I thought since when is this a safety channel, but then you show her hackin' down tall weeds and I was like, there it is! Great video guys!
My first and only Spyderco is the Tenacious in G10... it was my trial because I never really liked the leaf blades. I bought mine at Walmart for $43. I just don't like the lightweight, they feel cheap. Bottom line, I'm now a fan and I will be getting the Manix 2 in G10 when I can spare $115. Thanks for the overview!
I have quite a few knives in varying prices and brands, but the Tenacious in my opinion is the best regarding ergonomics. I prefer my Tenacious over my PM2.
SAME!!!!!!!! Would love to see it come in other uses. I abuse it so much after a while you dont care for fit and finish or centering. Just gets the job done. But would be nice in more steel options for different needs.
I've had the Resilience for years. Got it for 25 on clearance at Walmart....just bought the lightweight Tenacious for 35 nib at a pawn shop.....so I'm into both for 60....and that's a whole lot of knives for the money......they're in my rotation and will be for some time to come.
I carry my Spyderco Endura 4 hap40/sus410 pakkawood tip down. It works well for me I just slide 2 fingers into my pocket and pinch the spydihole and lift it out of my pocket and deploy the handle. This is the only knife I carry tip down because it is a lock back and it is a bit fun to deploy in a different way.
they should have bagged the steel liners on the FRN model - it would have made it a lot more lightweight. (also, I think that the Polestar is less money than the Tenacious - they are pretty close in stats but the Polestar has BD1N )
I bought one as a big purchase for a knife a few years ago brown g10 and black blade and last week I go a domino never would have thought I would spend 200$ on a pocket knife
Ohio Knife Lover I hope so too! I got introduced to Spyderco with the magnitude and that has not been a good experience. It constantly squeaks plus it’s not really that true Spyderco experience. It’s a great display case knife but that’s about all it’s good at.
Hey guys. I'm a little late to this video. Awesome landscaping work at the end there. Bugger, I'm trying to give up knives, yet here I am. Down here these are the Only cheap Spyderco's you can get.... And they're up around the $100 mark. Delicas are around $150 plus. Damnit. Ps, thank you for the stickers.
The tenacious was my gateway knife about 8 years ago.. Now, I can’t stand them. I’m fine with 8CR except it’s much more rust prone (less then D2) then people think. Funny, one of my oldest and easily most used knives is a green Delica. I’ve had it caked in mud a couple times and just washed it out with soap and water. The tang is full of deep scratches from the mud and sand before it was cleaned.
I would say Spyderco went with the plastic texture, cause it's cheaper to manufacture, thus increasing the profit margin, which if you google or look into with Spyderco and Benchmade their MSRP is over 100%. Meaning they price their knives 2x the cost of manufacturing.
I have a g10 resilience so I was all geared up to be disappointed by the lightweight tenny. Man, was I wrong on that…great ergonomics, smooth FRN, fully lined, lightweight but still sturdy. I love all my snobby crucarta and Taichung stuff but the lightweight is a great little knife
I have a love hate relationship with my tenacious. I can get it really freakin sharp, but no matter what get it centered. Actually have contemplated getting the LW.
I have tried everything, I even lightly polished the washers. It’s really bad, like it hits the liner. I still carry it sometimes. You think we will have football on time? Looks like we just got another 5 star QB, Go Dawgs!
Andrew Haley That’s so weird to hear about your Tenacious man! I think football is gonna start on time but they might not have so many fans in the seats and limitations on concessions. I hope we do better this year man!
How do those lightweight scales feel in hand . I like the idea of light , but only have g-10 on my Spyderco knife . The only thing that bothers me about the lightweight spydercos is that they really remind me of the knives in the plastic buckets by the cash registers in gas stations
That's what they feel like. To be honest they feel cheap. If you want to feel like you got a decent knife for 50 bucks get the g10. The den just feels cheap. It holds up amazingly but just feels cheap.
Cheaper steel is so much easier to sharpen. And fun to sharpen also. I save my blades by carrying a extremely light utility knife, thanks to Nutnfancy advice.
I do own the lightweight Para 3, Manix 2, and the "lightweight" Police. I also have an orange, blue, OD green, and tan Tenacious. I don't see a good reason to get this one.
**FRN WINS EDC, G10 WINS LOOKS**😤👌😆 G10 IS NICE BUT WAY OVERRATED. I GOT 2 OF EACH...1 BLACK G10, 1 BLACK FRN, 1 SILVER G10, 1 SILVER FRN (ALL W/THE SEMI-SERRATED BLADES). BLADES ARE IDENTICAL, ALTHOUGH THE BLACK COATING IS SMOOTHER/LESS STICKY. I BY FAR PREFER THE FRNs FOR EDC. THE GRIP & TEXTURE IS JUST FAR SUPERIOR FOR PRACTICAL USE. THE FRN WILL NEVER SLIP IF WET, OILY, OR DIRTY. CAN'T SAY THAT ABOUT THE G10...FEELS CLUNKY & SLIPPERY IN THE HAND...U GET OIL ON THIS HANDLE 4GET IT, UR GRIP IS COMPLETELY COMPROMISED. NOW WITH REGARD TO THE LOOKS/AESTHETICS...THE G10 WINS AS BEING A MORE BEAUTIFUL KNIFE. SO HAVE DECIDED TO PUT THE G10s UP FOR MY UNTOUCHED COLLECTION & THE FRNs WILL ACTUALLY BE USED FOR EDC & EDC BACKUP.👍
I’ve got a Manix 2 and Tenacious both in G-10, love them both! The lightweight versions just look cheap to me. Believe it or not the Tenacious was my 5th Spyderco knife, started out with the Para3. But it’s definitely one of my favorite carry knifes!
I got the Manix 2 LW screw together, and I was worried about the same issue until it arrived, and it can really hold up to any task, and is really sturdy. I'm gonna switch out the ball cage with a flytanium one, and put some titanium screws in it as well. But I def recommend the new screw together models.
This LW is just marketing, they could have at least used the wire clip. Love my Tenacious by the way, stonewashed finish on blade and liners, anodized the test of the hardware including a deepcarryclip, and got me brass scales which i gave the “shipswreck” patina. I love it. Could have bought me a Para 3 for all that money, but yeah......
What’s your view on the Para 2 family? ( Ergos, performance, etc....)I wansnt a big spyderco fan until I got one and now.... I must have ten-fifteen in different steels and colors. Love the vids guys!! I personally like g10 ....
The reason why people complain about 8cr13mov, or AUS8 for that matter, is that they can’t sharpen their knives to save themselves. These are the type of people who probably fork out money to ship their knives out for someone else to do it.
Why do people comment on videos that are old? Hmm. Well, I had to say, at about 12 mins, Frankie do not so the camera that the chamber was empty. 😆 Sometimes safety nuts, go too far. Who is really going to upload a video of their finger being cut when opening a Spyderco package? 😳
The China-Mart in my area hasn't carried Spyderco's for almost two years. They still have Buck & CRKT as well as the Kershaw stuff, but they quit selling Spyderco all together for some unknown reason?!?
Agreed. Or BD1 or 12C27 or 14C28N, or Aus 10, or VG10, it's not like they're lacking options for steels better than 8CR being offered by other companies at that price point.
8CR13MOV is crap, blah blah blah, I’m saying that because it’s softer than super steel... but it’s harder than food, wood, aluminum cans (and can cut all the above), sharpens to a very keen edge, and happens to be the steel on my most used knife (Spyderco Byrd Meadowlark).
Personally I prefer frn over g10 so for me this is an improvement. But I agree that spyderco uses “lightweight” like Vizzini uses “inconceivable” sort of right and wrong all at the same time
Mhm never owned a spyderco I had two benchmade mini grips bm is trash never again. I have a rat 2 right now it’s ok might a spyderco because of the thumb hole for my job

I’ll find out on Tuesday 😂
I have watch tone of spyderco videos but never found so logical and fun like this.

I heard the new SpaceX mission was to bring some much needed 8cr to the ISS.
Have my Persistence in my pocket now, still like the G10 better even if it is a little heavier. Not noticeable in pocket.

Always cheers me up, Thanks!
Thank you!
It's so cool how you both love knives. I think that's a cool interest to share! 😄
Put premium steel and a compression lock on the Tenacious. That would be a hit! 👍🏽🔪
Best liner lock access ever
Agreed
The Walmarts in my area are clearancing their Tenacious Spydercos for 25..nice time to pick one up!
8cr13mov steel users keep sharpeners for EDC and spend more time on sharpening than using
hahaha 😆
Spyderco needs to make a tenacious lightweight in a RED color.
and more steel options 😉
I like the g 10 way better in black FRN looks cooling in orange and yellow but can't find those colors for that knife.
Thanks you crazy kids your videos are always fabulous!

They should make the lightweight versions with thinner blade stock!!
I was hoping for half-small nested liners...
I like a good fresh mowed field. Maybe leave a strip down the middle
The real question is why that g10 tenacious is still tip down?
I don't mind frn but I bet if you asked 10 people 8 would prefer g10. Thanks Harry
Do you guys have the alcyone or polestar? If so thoughts on it?
Not yet
@@BirdShotIV the polestar is basically the tenacious with bd1 steel and grey g10 scales.
