    I can’t believe u r talking about the protein leverage hypothesis.. I just learned about this and increased my protein last week… I had tried every diet but no one said increase protein … no wonder nothing seemed to work.. I am like u trying to let myself not cancel any food group as I have been before and was miserable and would go off the rails when I did eat the so called bad foods … hoping this will get me going in right direction .. u look amazing ! I also want to have more energy and feel better !!

    Your channel has come to me at such a pivotal time in my life. I’m 47 and 3 months away from being officially in menopause. I’ve always been very health minded and started rigidly intermittent fasting to manage my perimenopause symptoms but for me the rigidity stresses my body too much. It brought along hot flashes and night sweats which I did not have. Once I let go and started following a more intuitive approach to eating and fasting it all improved. So did my brain fog. Also my mood. I felt more at peace and relaxed. I love these idea to incorporate more protein as being a former vegetarian I still struggle with that. I do eggs, wild caught fish, tuna,collagen powder, but still struggle to eat and like chicken, turkey, and steak. Love that white blouse you have on too 😉is it current and can you possibly send a link? Thanks again for everything you do to inspire us and help us enjoy this phase of our life 🙏🏻

    • @chalenejohnson
      @chalenejohnson  6 месяцев назад +2

      I am just so happy that you also find the intuitive approach is the best practice for your perimenopausal symptoms. I agree, too much restrictions and rules increases cortisol that make us feel worse. Thank you for sharing this and oh, the white shirt is an old one lol

    • @racheli2598
      @racheli2598 6 месяцев назад +2

      Thank you! I wish I could do more intermittent fasting-I still do 12-14 hours easily and naturally but before I was doing 17-19 and really in a state of stress from it and being so rigid with counting down the hours, ready to eat. It was very good for my fasting insulin though but I’m trying to strike a balance and still learning everyday.

    Love your food ideas! I am a 56 menopause woman and having to shift my eating habits. I hate being a slave to scale and tracking. I have been trying to see what my macros should be, then I will track my food for a couple of weeks so I can visually see what my meals and amounts should look like...then I won;t track again for awhile. If I see my body changing in the wrong direction, I will go back to tracking for a little bit to see where I can fine tune things, then stop tracking again. But I love your idea of how to eat and not be a slave to the scale and tracking. I too have found that if I am trying to reach certain macro numbers, my calorie count is higher and I feel like I am eating all the dang time. I am going to give the way you are eating. I would love to see a video of what your husband cooks! I need some fresh ideas

    I cook a lot but you and I assemble very similarly and I agree, these are great meals! May I add one to try? It is a great one if you are busy because I often cook ground meat, seasoned or unseasoned, freeze it in layers with parchment paper in between, and just break off what I need. Warm up the meat and add some southwest/taco seasonings. Grab a bag of your favorite slaw - I love Trader Joe's organic broccoli slaw. Pro tip and personal preference - the slaws with Brussels sprouts aren't as good in this one. Make a dressing of Greek yogurt, Trader Joe's jalapeno lime crunch, lots of lime juice and a little salt. Mix up the slaw and serve with Siete hard tortillas, or if you have more time, make quesadillas with their soft tortillas. I just make a bowl and eat it with a fork and broken tortilla shells. Yummmm! TJ's jalapeno lime crunch is seasonal, so if you can use the onion one they have and use extra lime. I personally find the jalapeno lime superior! You can add whatever you want, but in a bowl I just use the meat, shell and slaw. I add a good English cheddar to the quesadillas. The quesadillas can be frozen and heat up well in an air fryer.

    Thank you for sharing your meals and being so open. Your diet is totally doable and similar to my diet. I lost 63lbs in my mid forties and now I am at end of my forties and it is a battle to not put on weight. I gained about 15 back slowly over last few years and I am just battling to keep it off.

    Opportunity to get the right amount in, I’ve always trained but don’t enjoy my body especially now I’ve hit menopause. This video came at the right time to change . Thank you

    Absolutely love this video! So many of the things you say, and like and how you feel about counting everything I am exactly the same way. I just need to get on a good strength training program at the start walking and I know that I’m going get the results I want. I used strength train for many years and I absolutely love it! But I developed issues hip issues and had to have a hip replacement so between that timeframe of having the issue and getting it taken care of for about two years and the hip replacement was not perfect so it took a long time before I felt back to myself again plus working full-time out of the house is definitely a challenge to get the workouts in that I want to and maintain a home and a family and all these things. But you have just encouraged me so much today. Thank you!

    Great video. This approach works if you are mindful and tweak it for you, we're all different. I've had a very similar experience through out my life, working out like I'm an athlete, eating and restricting certaina foods. I relaxed and everthing became so much easier, my weight stabilized, I began to enjoy eating and not fear it, madness. Changed my approach to exercise too. I take HRT because I still couldn't control my sweats, all is well.
