The first album i ever bought. I think I was 12 years old. Over 50 years ago. Still one of my favorite songs ever. I also started play guitar as well so thanks to the legendary Mark .
I truly love this version of this song,it came to me that many men including myself have tried to capture the essence of this song in every way but there's only 1 Mark Farner!!! I know that voice and guitar sound anywhere.I still get goose bumps thinking of when I saw Mark live.I also saw and heard The other band claiming to be GFR.Like I said Theres only 1 Mark Farner.
I fear that the movement that started in the late 60's will officially end on the day when we can no longer hear Mark Farner sing "I'm Your Captain". On that day I will cut off what's left of my thinning gray pony tail, put away my headband and my faded bell bottom jeans and thank Mark for over 50 years of hope and beautiful memories of an incredible but fleeting period in American history. What a long strange trip its been. God bless you Mark. You are legend and you're music has brought us all Closer to Home.
Mark Farner we love you........you are GRAND FUNK RAILROAD. you practiced at my neighbors house in 1971 , in the little railroad town of Durand Mi.....JOHN HANBY......
I forgot to mention that I saw Donny Ozmond doing a version of this song he could never touch Mark but his version was pretty good.Rock on And Ling Live Mark Farner!!!!!
This man should be touring all over the world. He can make millions of people happy with these songs. Hope to see him once in my life, so Mark, please come to Europe (Netherlands)
A blast from my past, for sure. I was never a huge GF fan but always loved this tune. Farner did a great job and sang, as Harry Nilsson would say, "His balls off ..."
THANKS so much for posting all this great music! I saw Mr. Farner with some of these same musicians at a fundraiser in New York about a year ago and he is still INCREDIBLE!
Mark Farner was, is, & always will be GFR. Has either Donnie or Mel written anything worth recording since they kicked Mark out of the band? If so, I've not heard anything, & my entire career has been in radio & TV...
saskatchawan You're the filming crew? Well that's super convenient! :D Hopefully you get to record a show with Ringo Starr at some point. A show in this quality would be absolutely fantastic.
Isn't that the drummer who played with Alan Parsons and why isn't grand funk railroad and Alan Parsons in the hall of fame. Foghat, Savoy brown and steppenwolf, Tommy James or Jethro tull and the guess who.
Wow. That song. That vocal. That mega talent. That American 👣💎💚🎵🎵🎵

Mark Farner should still be touring with Grand Funk Railroad. He is the heart and soul of the band.

El rock más electrizante del mundo es Grand funk, no aburre nunca, si no que lo levanta del piso a uno.
They got better the smaller the audience was.
See them with less people in the crowd
Look Out! 😎
