I was in a production of The Sorcerer in college. Here, they (wisely) changed a some of the lyrics in one of the musical numbers.
"Hate me, I drop my H's, 'have through life" became "hate me, I grind my teeth at night."
"Hate me, I roll down One Tree Hill" became "hate me I like to sing karaoke."
Nice production. Very good voices and a novel staging approach. My only quibble is that Alexis' and other officer's uniforms were missing belts, which tend to make them look like sloppy bouses or tunics. Still a fine production.
What.... people didn't wear sloppy blouses or tunics in Gilbert and Sullivan's time? Lol
@@mjacobsable Not if they were military, and the dramatis personae lists Alexis "of the Grenadier Guard", who even when on leave without their busby for an engagement party, would never appear anything less than "spit and polish". His whole character is rather fanatical and unbending. He could have just as easily been put into a morning suite or Ascot race dress to convey his upper class level, but to be in "military undress" is not to mean "undressed"...
And while these are Life Guardsmen, their base uniform is identical to Grenadier Guardsmen outfits, with belt and cross belt.
