You can take your old hand baskets apart with a knife and reclaim some of the cattails back. And if you have several stacks of sticks and not whole lot of storage space, you can compress those sticks into layers of sticks. 1 layer of sticks takes 9 sticks, so they will take a lot less space. You can break those stick layers by placing them on ground and breaking them either by hand or by axe (axe is faster). I would also recommend making some crates for bulk storage for single item type such as dirt, cobble stone, logs, clay etc. If you find aged crates (some traders buy then, can't remember which), I think they have 16 slots, and if you make them yourself, I think they have 20 slots of inventory.
The stick layers make a decent path-marker too if you don't have the dirt or planks for a more detailed path (or are just trying to burn some extra stock). They're not exactly pretty but they do stand out well enough
If you want to play during temporal storms (the ambience is top-tier creepy, I honestly love them), how I usually handle them is setting up my kitchen as a 3x3 or 4x3 chamber crammed with cooking fire, quern, single bit of water in the floor, and enough space to set down some gravel or bony soil. Drifters can't open doors. Just close yourself inside and sift away during the storm, listening to the drifters growling outside... Oh, and have some ranged options and at least one solid block to half-seal the door with, if a two-headed drifter spawns inside the main house. Rare in theory, but it's happened to me twice now. They're not nearly as big a threat if you can block them back and snipe them from out of reach, those thrown pebbles deal 1 point flat damage regardless of drifter tier.
“Very nice” -DannyRothko Love this series! Just started this game my self and been absolutely loving it, when I’m not playing, I get to watch you play!
I’m seriously loving this series. Perfect for watching a few minutes every morning before work. Your voice is so soothing and the pacing for each episode is slow yet deliberate. Nice work
Everyone is so helpful in the chat I am loath to say this. Did you use cap roof tiles for the whole roof? I think those are just for the peek. There should be corner roof tiles too. Love this series please keep it going!
Haha yes I did. I wanted a flat roof for this first building. I also didn't want a super tall roof at first. I do use a few normal roof tiles as well! Thanks so much for watching! There's definitely more to come.
Hey mate. So I am watching your video right now and I noticed that you aren't in the mood to deal with combat situations at night. If I might make a suggestion? Trying building some quick and easy packed dirt shelters in certain areas away from your base. These shelters can be close to areas that you would like to explore. If suddenly the rift activity raises you would have a place to stay on short notice and you wouldn't have to risk dying in the middle of the night while carrying valuable items. You can even place an oil lamp and a tiny celler in the shelter with some preserved food. Of course you will play the game how you like but I thought I might make the suggestion. You're doing awesome though! Your content is nice and clean! This is the third video of yours that I am watching and I think I will be a subscriber in a minute.
Thank you for watching! I do think temporary shelters would be a big help out in a big adventure. I want to get enough gear to be able to safely (ish) fight off those drifters too
@@dannyrothko Combat experience will come to you more when you get into battle. What I had only baskets for inventory I made sure to have 3 or 4 flint spears at all times when traveling. I had one spear on my hot bar. Always in the same spot. It gives me a good fighting chance in battle. These guys are slow but you have to watch your surroundings. These do creep up on you and attack in groups. Now I have 2 linen sacks and 2 hunter backpacks. I now carry 6 spears at all times. Also I carry at least 10 ladders. (Usually 20 to 30 though) I use them to mark resin trees and to get out of tough spots.
i used to spend temporal storms in a panic room like 7x5 with nearly 10 tiles of a clean floor and no spawns, the only thing is the room is very well lit: there's no more than 2 meters from a cube where a torch placed to any even half-empty cube of air, counting all three dimensions. so the light level and probably a players proximity prevents even storm's spawns
Drifters can spawn anywhere during a temporal storm. It has nothing to do with lighting (or player proximity). If you haven't had spawns inside your room, you're just lucky. (The 15 meter spawn radius during a temporal storm means you have a 10*3 / 14137 = 0.2% chance of a drifter landing in your room during each spawn tick, if your 10 tile room has a ceiling height of 3.)
@@dannyrothko I linked to the definitive logic for temporal storm drifter spawns (the source code that is responsible for it) in a previous comment, but it's gone now. Maybe it's because the comment had an external (github) link in it? The only rule is that if there aren't enough drifters within a 20 meter radius of the player, then the game will attempt to randomly spawn drifters within a 15 meter radius of the player. That's it. So the smaller the room, the less likely a drifter will spawn in it.

Ahh that is good to know. I definitely wasted a few cattails then haha, and we definitely need those. Thank you for the tips!

Thank you! Very nice to know. Those storms are definitely frightening haha... And I definitely want a ranged option, ideally a recurve bow

This playthrough got me to purchase the game 😊 Excited to learn everything and get immersed

Thank you so much!
Bears currently get tired and start drowning in deep water... This may be fixed in the future as it is regarded as a bug
Ahh intersting, that's good to know. Even more glad I'm living next to this lake now!
Everything is looking so good
It's a great game! Definitely worth checking out when you can.

things to do:
1) proceed to an iron age
2) build 1x2x1 cobblestone staircase
😆 Both extremely important!
Love your playthrough! Keep them coming :)

Thank you! Glad you're enjoying it.
nice, new episode :>
Thanks for watching!
yay new episode
Did you forget to carry a pot/chest with you on adventures for more storage with the Carry On mod?
I do like to bring one with me but it also slows your running speed, so sometimes I leave it behind if I want to maximize walk speed.
Could you do a video on your settings for the game or even an image?
There is a link in the video description
is there any temperature advantage inside your home after adding the clay shingles? or is it just for visual aesthetics?
I believe any properly enclosed building will be "insulated" but different materials don't have better insulation than others.
You can't place the baskets on the ground to use as more storage?
The hand baskets can't be placed unfortunately, but you can deconstruct them for the reeds and make the ground storage baskets
Is it true that drifters can't spawn on pebbles ? If that's true perhaps put stones on the house floor where there isn't anything on it.
I think that used to be the case but I remember hearing somewhere that it may have changed. I'm not 100% sure though.
It has changed. Pebbles no longer stop the groany bois.
is there any additional costs or just pay get the key download and play
no additional costs, this guys a pretty straightforward (at least for now)
Just a one time purchase, and all future updates are yours as well!
He does have servers you can pay for MP games but thats it. Its far more reasonable in cost when compaired to Bedrock.
