dry rot basically happens because the black ink they used to dye the cotton with in the 1990s was acidic and slowly eats at the fibers over time if it isn't washed out, eventually leaving you with a shirt that will melt away in the wash
Should we wash all used shirts that dont have tags to be safe to get the shirts washed asap and also to detect dry rot on the ones that rip in the wash ? Thanks. Anybody knowledgeable please reply soon.
@@smerk429If they are deadstock 90's it's too late. Just give the shoulder a little tug and see if it rips. No sense in wasting money on washing if it rips. Besides, deadstock is always more valuable then a washed tee.
@@smerk429 At that point its basically something you'd have to frame. So it has to be a really special tee for someone to still buy it. And the price will not be much.
