My memory fails me often but I do remember being away from home for the first time and hanging out in the bars listening to the bar bands. Had a great time!
It's been over 50 years, I don't remember the name of the bar or the names of the guys in the band. In 1966-67 I met the guys, and got to know them pretty well. Used to hang out with them, and wrote down the lyrics for songs so they could rehearse them. I still remember the day we spent at a beach, sure miss Olongapo and the prettiest bartender. Fell in love with her.
@@BlueSky-sf4rj It's been 54 years since I was in Olongapo, I can't remember the name of the bar i hung out in, the band, or the lead singer anymore; so I sure wouldn't remember any bars there. I can't even remember the name of the restaurant I used to have Adobo at.

Back about 67 I had a awesome girl friend that was a drummer in a tribute band and they were KREAM (not with a C) and her name was Virginia or on stage was Ginger Baker. Cool huh, we saw the Beatles together. Great times.

Late 1980, early 1981.....clubs like Sierra Club and Rock n Roll In Concert, also a club where Sampaguita sang, cannot remember the name, plus lots of other clubs with all sorts of music to cater to just about everyone. The bands might have been cover bands but they were note perfect. Close your eyes and it was almost like being at a concert with the original band. A really great three months of drinking San Miguel and listening to music.
I don't care what toy squids say. At the D Pearl club in 1977, thereeeeee was a guitarist name Roland. He was Eddie Van Halen. Dont remember the band be played in, but this guy could jam !!!

The Sword and Scepter band was the best. I think they were renamed "Caluscos/Kaluskos" in the 90s after they won champion in San Miguel beer battle of the bands. This is and was the only band na nkatugtog ng mga black sabbath, pink floyd, and other heavy metal, a kind of blues-rock, hard rock, etc. Black sabbath ay mhirap ang tugtugin kaya walang tumutugtog dyan. Meron man mali. Only the sword and scepter band played it perfectly. Free bird was played and sang also by mr. Ganie caluscos and damn, when he started with the piano part, we,together with the other marines were shouting like crazy! Only this band can bring smoke in Sierra! All I know is they were siblings. I wonder where they are now. They are really great and Real musicians and undefeatable playing the Black Sabbath "War pigs"
I am also looking for them. I love them. The thing was that I think they didn't play continuously. THey were on and off. One reason why they were not known really. However, they are the best for me. What they played couldn't be played by the other bands.

Frictions were incredible. In 1975, after returning to Subic on my third ship, took to them during the day the Blue Oyster Cult live album, "On your feet, or, on your knees", as I saw BOC live at Winterland while in the states. Went back that evening during their show, they played three of the songs, two of them to absolute perfection. During my time 1973-1976, their claim to fame song was the Edgar Winter Groups "Frankenstein".
Lol, no copyright infringement intended, but you play a whole song. Pretty sure they are going to ping you for it. I mean, I could care less, but they have flagged me for 10-second clips of songs. They will likely monetize your video for the copyright holder.
No one can best play War pigs but the Sword and Scepter band. All the bands that people mentioned were ordinary. My husband's favorite is the sword and scepter. Where are they now??
That's in Magsaysay avenue, Olongapo city, Zambales, Philippines. If you are a US serviceman based in the Philippines in the 70s to early 80s , I'mpretty damned sure you've been there in that club, fucked some exotic Filipinas who frequent those places peddling their pussies to US servicemen. When the base closed the scene there changed dramatically. No more roaming prostitutes with heavy make ups and most bars there stopped operating and only a few remained open, lots of musician lost their jobs.
what makes them different? I think they are just an ordinary band. Other bands can play what they play. I think the sword and scepter was exceptionally different from all of the bands in olongapo. However, they weren't really known due to the fact that they often changed members. and would be off for quite a long time. be back again, then off again. But they were my favorite. THey are the best rock and roll band in Olongapo.
Oh yes. Sieraa club band can play tom Sawyer 2112 yyz bytor live and only for a mojo after that you wake up with 2 girls in bed all cash gone with absolute blissfull smile on ur face.
Haha same exact thing happened to me in 77. Woke up upstairs of some bar 4 lil old guys with wife beaters on playing cards. Girl and dog tags gone. Bad headache as I stumble back to the Kittyhawk. USMC guard from 76-78. Good old days!

There was a bar called Aristocrat and they had a great band. The bar and the band (cannot remember the name of the band) were popular in Olongapo.
