  • This was originally recorded from "WBLS Dance Party" 1986 but cassettes wear n tear affected the the sound quality so I decided to remake this jewel myself,of course originally mixed by Merlin Bobb I only tried to work on the playlist and available tracks I have, obviously I don't have them all of the original playlist as some of tracks were never released like those by Boyd jarvis,Timmy Regisford for that I put couple of other singles in it.I am fan of Merlin Bobb,Timmy Regisford,Boyd Jarvis and Tony Humphries.I've learned a lot from their mixing technique. After all they are the masters. It's an attempt to mix the way Merlin Bobb did,Hope you will enjoy this as much as I do.Peace!!

I'm so happy you never forgot about how house music started..

Practically all music genres were heavily influenced by American musicians, melanated indigenous copper coloured amarukhans. Without their presence, and infectious influences, there'd be no sub genres that came over the following decades. Truth be told. It's just the way it was, and still is. Glad I came to NYC right when it began to root, and became recognized and established the whirled over. Period.

What killed me most, was the unwarranted, and unfair fraudulently inappropriate attack towards the genre disco. Anyone that knows music, could easily realize and understand the complexities of what it took to produce most of the songs of its time, still being played in 2025. Songs that are timeless and unforgettable tinged with so many of our memories of where we were and what we were doing in those times. Never forgotten, always there to reminisce on and on, time and again.
Imagine watching any of those songs live on stage, with a an orchestra accompanying the artists playing real instruments with every song. That to me is so beautiful and mesmerizing. Captivated, in awe transfixed on every part of the songs being played, wow. Need I say more. Nah, I don't think so. Well then.

I had the pleasure of working Merlin in a club in Jersey. He was one of the true Mixmaster's back in the Day.

Merlin was one of the members of a trio of deejays, alongside Timmy regisford and Nahum Johnson. They without knowing it, were masters who broadened my love and great respectful appreciation for the music art form still known as it today, of deejaying. But oh! I can't leave and not make mention of the supreme being, the magnanimous, eponymous grand his lordship, known to the whirled as, LarryLevan. He singlehandedly introduced the whirled to the futuristic, way ahead of everyone and everything, even sometimes his own self, to real whirled of dance music. There's no dance music, if there was no,high priestess , sir Larry the hostess with the mostess. Doing with such grass and ease, Saturday night at his home away from home, Paradise Garage. Were you ever there? I definitely was, whenever I could grace the stage, I'd close down. Having to forcibly, in a nice way, removed from the premises. Yep! Another night under my belt, until the next time, we would meet up downtown west village, on king and varicose streets right across from SOB's , another spot, with reputation onto itself. Boy, those were the days, the better daze. Weren't they not? Yeah they were.

It’s undeniable and completely verifiable that growing up back then we witness the birth of house music whether it was Larry Levan Timmy registered Tony Humphries T Scott Frankie knuckles Naim Johnson Dj Punch we were there. And take carry on the house Legacy and the spirit of church is a beautiful thing. But that was back in the day. That was when you said you were a DJ you had to show you were a DJ it was a sync buttons the techniques 1200 didn’t match algorithms for you nor did that motherfucking beat match you you had to do all that shit on your own. So I have a question to ask all you old heads does a CD J make you a DJ?

Bringing back memories walking around Bedstuy in the summer of the 70s. Setting on the stoops listening to BLS, drinking old gold. Watching kid play skully on the side walk.

Merlin was a little later than the true masters, and his mixing was ok not great in the same vein as some of the earlier guys. Timmy like Humphries, had some great mixes in their early days not so much in recent decades.
