Go back and have a look at what Foley was up to from the very start, watch and listen(can be heard over the mics), pissed the ref off no end. Paid the price in the end.
Y'know, I've never understood any AB team in the 2020s that puts Beauden Barrrett on the bench, unless he's massively an obviously injured. He is the ultimate backline player in any position.
Bermard Foley was the engineer of the Wallabies' downfall. The two Wallaby midfielders realized what was going to happen - they screamed and gesticulated at Foley to kick the bloody ball out, but Foley, ever the smart-arse, decided to push it, and it backfired on him. You can hang that loss squarely on his shoulders.
Test match footy of the right kind. Skill, intent, unity, bravery for the duration. The bravery of Monsieur Raynal was exemplary. He called it right, fair play to him. Oz learned the hard way by not heeding three warnings not to waste clock time. Bloody stupid of them...I am not a New Zealander.
Referee told Foley to play on (time off, time on, time off, time on, time off, time on) then only the whistle was blown... there was 45 seconds that passed since the turnover penalty

it seems to me, that the disallowed try, at 36mins, should have been a penalty try. the Aussie player was on the ground, when he ripped the ball from the NZ player's hand. as soon as a player is on the ground, he can't interfere with play
Holy hell. I'm fairly new to rugby, I don't always understand the penalty calls and stuff. But what a goddamn match. Hoooollllly hell. What a finish. Just back and forth over and over again. I wasn't necessarily rooting for either team. I would've been alright with either team winning, but the All Blacks went absolute ham that whole match.
At least three that were dead set tries. Can't remember anyone else doing that in a year. I think he'll be epic over the next few years, he's still super quick just needs to polish a few things off and he'll be deadly at center
They should let the Kiwi kids do their own Haka against the Aussie kids. Seriously, I give nothing but respect to these great athletes. I'm American and love rugby far more than the NFL.
What an infallible mistake by Foley, his teammates, the referee, warned him in the stands, from TV, the Waterman... to sit him down and leave him watching his childish behavior on TV for 10 hours straight, incredible, I'm his teammate and I never speak to him again.
Great game - I'm glad for the outcome, felt like aussie had great pressure but also were quick to play dirty (swain foul play, foley forward pass then quick conversion, foley time wasting) . Even moments like intentionally slowing down the game by walking to lineouts, ref was calling to hurry things up early in the first half. Exciting game and satisfying ending.
I'm an ice hockey fan but have to say that rugby is such a great sport. What I don't understand about the Bledisloe Cup, though, is the format for determining the winner. It seems the simple way would be to play 3 games, alternating between Australia & New Zealand hosting each game. If one team were to win the first 2 games, then at least one would be played in each nation; or otherwise the third game would be played in whichever country and that one would surely be a TV revenue gold mine. Or alternatively, go with the North American football format, like the Super Bowl in USA or Grey Cup in Canada with one game with a ton of TV revenue.
ik you wrote this 7 months ago, but they usually play three games in the bledisloe with the games spread over both countries. usually will end up being one year ABs get 2 games at home and wallabies get 1 then vice versa the next year. not sure if that’s intentional though. it usually will end up with both teams winning either the first or second game so the cup is on the line by the third game which does have massive viewership. it’s now normally played during the rugby championship (which is all blacks, wallabies, springboks, and los pumas playing for a cup) so both teams are fighting for two cups rather than just one and that also greatly increases the number of viewers. the problem is that the rugby games were shown for free for so long that people are starting to stop watching on tv since you have to pay (sometimes almost as much as a ticket to watch it in the stadium!)
That's unfortunate because Australia 9/10 would have won if they had just kicked the ball out.. but the ref made the right call seeing right through the Bullshit... When you get a penalty you either go quick or kick and on the 5 you fuckin kick it. And he knew thats all he had to do no other options.. SO again good call by the Sir.
Fair decision, l was disappointed with how ozzy was time-wasting when the ref penalised them for it. They got a warning, l clearly heard the ref, so yeah..fair decision.
I gathered the basics, no forward pass with hand, only foot, I know what the scrum is, but... why is it rewarded, what is an offside, what is a penalty, beats me, I have no clue. Maybe because there are too many bodies around the ball (why is it called a ball is a mystery too) so I can't clearly see what is going on, but one thing is for sure, aussie fans are crazy about this game, and I love it. Few years ago, while I was living in Bali, I met few of them in the local pub, with beer kegs in hand, they were cheering and yelling because we were the only ones present. I didn't mind, instead, I asked to join them saying I have no clue about the rules, but i'll gladly have a beer or six with them if they explain it to me. They failed :) but we were all proper drunk by the end of the game.
Didn't get the reason for the final scrum against the Aussies free kick? What a game. though. The Spring bock was a brilliant game too this year. A feast since the Covid .
You're probably the only one, it's pretty clear. The referee warned him 3 times to put the ball in play because he was losing time, and Foley thought he was smart for looking the other way and continuing to lose time, his own teammates desperately yelled at him to kick, 1:49:24 . I am not in favor of blaming anyone for a mistake, but in this case I would not speak to him in a long time if I were his teammate
Aye 100% agree. He's a dirty player that seeks to maim opponents. It is not just a disciplinary issue with him. It is pure intent with malice afore-thought.
49:43 Can we please eject the meatheads from rugby, especially the Aussie ones. That would greatly improve the game and make it safe! There should be some kind of intelligence test or something that the players must pass before they are allowed to play at International level

He costed them dearly
1:29:23 clear forward pass. Gets told to wait while they check the pass. Foley quickly kicks the conversion.

Cheapest shot that can be given, possibly career ending. No reason to aim for the joint like that.

That is intentional and should be banned the same length that the injured player is out.
