Man that was a good day!! It was nice meeting the RUclips Fam for sure! I ended up catching some nice top water Bass and also caught a nice snakehead that day! Great snakehead catch there, I usually use my metal grippers or fingers under the gills till they open enough to grip'em! Tight lines!
Great video and content as always. I like the detail you put into the videos. Matching up the music with a great hook set. I don't know anything about snakehead fish. They look creepy and if they eat all the beautiful bass, I'd probably kill it. But I know nothing about snakehead fish. Great Video. Tight Lines!!!
My first kayak fish was a 4lb Snakehead, I rented the kayak. So far I've been fortunate that all of my Snakehead catches still had the lure in their mouths, so I had a slight opening to pry their mouths open to get my lure back, even though they felt it's their's now because they bit them, haha.
Yo brother! DNR wants us to kill snakeheads when we catch them, and not put them back in the water. Some people like to filet and eat them. Just a reminder. But, like someone else said, damn good job on that Jon boat!👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
You don’t have to kill it anymore, have to think back once bass were considered an invasive species! Imagine that! But DWR says “Anglers are required to report snakeheads kept but are not required to kill them if caught and immediately released. Snakeheads must be dead if in possession (contained in live well, cooler, etc.) However, the Department asks that all snakeheads be killed if possible”. Reports have shown they are not as damaging as once thought. It’s a great sports fish imo. 🤷🏻♀️
@@xxfree2romexx I can understand why someone would want to make them sports fish, but the damage is clearly more than "Bass" and these fish breed and reproduce like no other. I'm harvesting everyone I catch simply because I catch so many of them and the ones that have a full belly is mostly full of bluegill with my catches. I guess no one cares about the effect of the bluegill because they aren't as fun to catch. IMHO
Saw your video. Try slowing your retrieve way down. When your lure first hits the water, let it sit 10- 30 seconds before you slow twitch back. Let them eat it. take up the slack to see if they have it and set the hook with everything you have.
I know this video is pretty old but I live right near Burke Lake. Always thought it was pretty bad until yesterday I went after snakehead by the dam. caught my first at 5.5 lbs
Regarding your other comment, I have thought of installing power poles but I don't fish enough shallow water to justify it but most importantly I don't want to add any more weight to the boat right now. Maybe some time in the future when I redo the boat. For the snakeheads, I don't fish for them often so I haven't really decided where I fall but I'm leaning towards not releasing them.
Dude as a fisherman, I am impressed with how clean your boat, gears and outfits are 😂

Different grippers. The ones that are metal. If you're harvesting, bonk on the head. They are good eating.
SHAKE!!!😱😱😱😱😱
You next Cuz!!!
You ever come up to fountain head to fish?
Sure do. Haven't quite figured that place out yet though.
DMV fam bam 👊
Yessirr
Sposed to bonk ‘em in the head bro
Boca grip to spread their mouths. Or use your pliers then the fish gripper.
Yepp. I bought the Boca Grip. Perfect suggestion
i dont think you are supposed to put them ack in the water after you catch them.
