If im being certainly honest, the Class 376 is like an electrostar that was built on a very tight budget giving the fact that literally every other electrostar train has air conditioning which is a priority on basically every train from the 2000s and onwards, and the other electorstars dont have some some tatty interior with bins that were kicked by year 7s and some tired looking livery.
Refurbishment for the 376s won’t start until the timetable changes in June. When the timetable changes SE will try to fill in gaps by decreasing the use of 376s and juggling rolling stock to cover the gaps
It will probably mainly be Networkers covering for the 376s, but it would be interesting if other members of the Electrostar family cover for the 376s. I've heard that a 377/5 worked a metro route before
@@awesometrainsandbuses Um no... the metro routes that the 377s run do not go to Hayes, Gravesend, Orpington or Dartford. So unless they start sending them there I would doubt it
The class 376 is basically the result of the class 357, 375 and 378 having a thresome. And you KNOW who birthed it And tbh, i think it will be appropriate to make a review video of the class 357 since they are getting a livery refurbishment and possibly an interior refurbishment since the body ends are literally corroding. Personally i think thats good for the class 357 since THEY ARE LITERALLY FALLING APART in the interior and exterior. In the interior, the paint in the grey parts in the seat are chipping and exposing the metal. The destination board desplay broke in a unit, but was fixed. Teal paint is also chipping from the walls holding the route map above the door. And finally, the gangway door sensor broke in in one of the units. Externally, the logos vinyl sticker are peeling off. The couplings is corroding slightly in some units. The gangway ends are showing obvious rust all over it. So it's about time they are finally getting an overhaul, it might make them last longer since their days are numbered now.
Controversial but I like these a lot! I do agree that the lack of air con was a huge omission and I think they should have added it as part of the planned refurbishment - the seats I don’t actually think are that uncomfortable- though they definitely need re-covering - I think SE would do themselves a favour if they looked at adding a bit more padding, if only to appease people. I look forward to seeing them after the refresh!
To be honest I still think these would be worse than the 465s after the refurbishment. I don't like being slammed into the wall whenever we go round a corner. No thanks!
the Networkers are clearly long overdue for replacement, and for the 376s being much newer you would think they would be nowhere near as bad. I do think the 376s are much less cramped than the 465s, but I do admit they are still shabby. At least the refurbishments will improve them no matter what though
What brings then lower than the 465s though is the extremely uncomfortable seats and no toilets, not to mention no air conditioning which is something that the Networkers also lack. I can ride on a 465 from Ashford to Victoria without fidgeting because of seat comfort, yeah the Networkers don't have very comfortable seats but they are just comfortable enough for long journeys. If I was on a 376 from Ashford to Victoria I wouldn't even get on it. It would just be asking for pain
@@awesometrainsandbusesI don’t get how people prefer the networker seats personally, for me they are some of the worst seats possible… worse than the 376s imo! The only decent networker seats are the former first class on the 465/9s
They don't go beyond Gravesend though and they never make it to London Victoria, the question is why though? You know it seems rare to board a train that goes beyond Dartford, the Thameslink service is pretty much the only direct service now and it's always cancelled
@@awesometrainsandbusessome 465/2s have already been stripped and used for spares at Doncaster. A few 465/2s have been completely disposed of after visiting Doncaster 😢

Noooo, they are changing the livery. I'll miss these things in their white livery, at least it's better than scrapping them.
The Class 376 Should Have Seats That Are More Comfortable Then We'd Be off To a Better Start Already
The refurbishment will freshen them up a lot, for sure.

I swear I've seen a video or picture of one on one of the metro routes
Unless I'm going mad idk, but I swear one has done it before

Hopefully after refurbishment, these trains should be better, apart from the fact they will have no AC or Toilets

Not this time of year

There are no talks about scrapping the Electrostars since the family started coming in to service 24 years ago.
