2018 Tarrant County Harambee Festival Anti-Bullying Rally

  • The Tarrant County Black Historical and Genealogical Society is proud to present the 9th Annual Tarrant County Harambee Festival. Harambee means "all come together' in Swahili. This years’ festival includes two days of fun and entertainment for the whole family.
    The festival kicks off Friday, October 5th at 6:00 p.m. with the Seafood, Chicken and Blues Fest, featuring blues guitarist, singer, and songwriter, Andrew “Jr. Boy” Jones, Kerri Lepai Jones and James “Killer Bug” Morris. On Saturday, October 6th, Harambee Festival starts at 9:00 with a parade. NBC 5’s Evan Anderson, will serve as Grand Marshal and host the opening ceremony. The day-long event will include an Anti-Bullying/Anti-Violence Rally featuring the FWISD Mass Choir, Health & Wellness Expo, Poetry Slam and amateur and professional entertainment. This years’ Kid Zone includes face painting, bounce houses, games and many other activities. Live entertainment includes performances from Ayhonz featuring Kenya C., Jay B & The Zydeco Posse, The Legends of Funky Town, Sheran Goodspeed Keyton featuring Jock Lewis, and the Maxwell Hall Jazz Band, along with a special appearance from ‘Black Panther’ actor, Hasaan J.A. Rasheed. Mr. Jimmy Walker, retired educator and former Assistant Superintendent of Arlington ISD, will be presented the 2018 Tarrant County Harambee Outstanding Lifetime Achievement Award.
