Why are so many people hating on TR2013? I mean, I know it's a lot different but that is one of the main purposes of the game. To show she wasn't always the strong and brave Lara that we know. They're just showing all the things she went through before she turned into this badass chick that we all came to love. In my opinion they did an amazing job on this game, it shows a different/innocent side of her that I'd never seen before. I think people just need to give it a chance, it really was a good game. ✌

After the Reboot one can notice one simple Difference. The game became overwhelmingly violent, fast paced and with many cinematics....Violence replaced puzzles and exploration....
No matter how good the graphics get, the original games will still be my favourite... Probably because I used to play them with my older sister since I was 3 years old :D

i only played anniversary and underworld yet i still enjoyed tomb raider series. the puzzles are tricky unless you used the right amount of logic. and the story are well crafted. and finally the graphics-including lara- are absolutely stunning. i hoped they'll make another one soon
Man, this brings back a ton of memories--mostly good. Whenever I see the beginning of the original TR it makes me feel really nostalgic. I don't care how block, clunky or pixellated it all looks. It had a sort of charm to it that still works today. The only thing that really used to frustrate the hell out of me when playing the older games is the swimming. I'm not a fan of swimming in video games; most of the time it sucks and TR is no exception. But most everything else was a lot of fun. And I loved the two new ones as well. Sure, they are vastly different, but it's like when your favorite band releases a new album with sound unlike what you're used to. Sometimes things just evolve. Doesn't mean they are bad.

Tomb raider 2013 was a reboot...like it was the prequel of her amazing life. This game shows that lara croft was a very innocent girl before becoming the matured and dangerous woman. Can't wait for the next sequel!
I remember playing the old tomb raider with my dad quite a few years back, and now after beating the newest tomb raider I feel like the tomb raider has been reborn :) it is such a lovely and wonderfuly crafted game
I've played all of them, except for Angel of Darkness and Underworld (they never really peaked my interest, I guess). My favorites are the second, third, Chronicles, Legend and the 2013 reboot.
Nice recap. I forgot that we gamers didn't start getting badass grafs until around 2000. But Tomb Raider was always one of the big ones that gamers wanted to play. She may have changed over the years, but Lara Croft is just as badass as ever! This Reboot is just what the series needs to get her back in the big leagues again. Oh, and Tomb Raider came out BEFORE Uncharted! Just throwing that out there.

A real tomb raide r game is where you spend hours trying to search the secrets, where younsend minutes trying to figure outva puzzle or a way to go. Thats a resal tomb raider atmosphere, not "lemme see the map to find the secret"
I remember playing the original Tomb Raider, back when I was only little. Completed it, of course, but what got to me, was the slow paced gameplay, dodgy controls and bad aiming mechanics. This was only touched upon and modified very slightly over the years. I'm glad they've finally done something completely different, that feels comfortable and fresh. I don't want to play the same game over and over again. Tomb Raider has been the same for pretty much 15 years. It's time for change.
TR 1 was the best because it was released when 3D graphics were just hitting the scene. No modern game could ever hope to recapture the amazement because it was something new to everyone. Passing judgement on current games just isn't fair because you'll never achieve the level of emotion delivered by something groundbreaking, not just with TR but other games like Quake or whatever floated your boat back when it was a new experience for you.
2013 had solid (borrowed) mechanics, a working camera, and it was a pretty good ride- not a ride I'll ever pay again to go on, but a good ride nonetheless. Tomb raider anniversary couldn't even bring the magic of the original back and had its own share of issues. Tomb Raider Legend was actually worse than Anniversary and features some pretty poor design, poor voice acting, camera issues, and other odd gameplay design decisions. Tomb Raider Angel of Derpness was a complete mess and remains as one of the biggest disasters to happen to the franchise a.k.a. nearly killed it for good. Underworld was pretty shit too, but then again none of those games in the last fifteen years or so have won any kind of awards, because their fluff and the character of Lara Croft should probably be retired to make room for- someone else. I rather enjoyed 2013 Womb Raider, because it was functional. It wasn't challenging, it wasn't about the raiding of tombs, and its story was complete action movie meets LOST garbage, but ultimately it was still a good effort. I hope that they pull the reigns in hard for any kind of sequel and work on making the future titles more complex.
My pleasure. And just to let you know: The Legend is really SOMETHING! And it would probably be my fauvorite... but the Anniversary has the nostalgic feeling as a plus, so it's my number one ;) PS: I've played all too, except for the Angel of Darkness... the demo disgusted me soo much that i started to hate it immediatly.
Tomb Raiders 1 through 8 and anniversary are my favorites. Tomb Raider 9 just ain't the same as the older games I hope CD can turn it around with Tomb Raider 10 and go back to the old formula.

A real tomb raide r game is where you spend hours trying to search the secrets, where younsend minutes trying to figure outva puzzle or a way to go. Thats a resal tomb raider atmosphere, not "lemme see the map to find the secret"

I remember playing the first series when I was a kid it was so scary back then but I really liked it
I remember playing the original Tomb Raider, back when I was only little. Completed it, of course, but what got to me, was the slow paced gameplay, dodgy controls and bad aiming mechanics. This was only touched upon and modified very slightly over the years. I'm glad they've finally done something completely different, that feels comfortable and fresh. I don't want to play the same game over and over again. Tomb Raider has been the same for pretty much 15 years. It's time for change.
One of the best series of all time IMO. Tomb Raider is on top of games history with RE,Metal Gear and Final Fantasy.
Oh I know! The newest game's graphics are a GIANT step forward. So amazing.
TR 1 was the best because it was released when 3D graphics were just hitting the scene. No modern game could ever hope to recapture the amazement because it was something new to everyone. Passing judgement on current games just isn't fair because you'll never achieve the level of emotion delivered by something groundbreaking, not just with TR but other games like Quake or whatever floated your boat back when it was a new experience for you.

Game quality has nothing to do with the attractiveness of the characters. There's this thing called porn for that.
2013 had solid (borrowed) mechanics, a working camera, and it was a pretty good ride- not a ride I'll ever pay again to go on, but a good ride nonetheless.
Tomb raider anniversary couldn't even bring the magic of the original back and had its own share of issues. Tomb Raider Legend was actually worse than Anniversary and features some pretty poor design, poor voice acting, camera issues, and other odd gameplay design decisions. Tomb Raider Angel of Derpness was a complete mess and remains as one of the biggest disasters to happen to the franchise a.k.a. nearly killed it for good. Underworld was pretty shit too, but then again none of those games in the last fifteen years or so have won any kind of awards, because their fluff and the character of Lara Croft should probably be retired to make room for- someone else.
I rather enjoyed 2013 Womb Raider, because it was functional. It wasn't challenging, it wasn't about the raiding of tombs, and its story was complete action movie meets LOST garbage, but ultimately it was still a good effort. I hope that they pull the reigns in hard for any kind of sequel and work on making the future titles more complex.

And just to let you know: The Legend is really SOMETHING! And it would probably be my fauvorite... but the Anniversary has the nostalgic feeling as a plus, so it's my number one ;)
PS: I've played all too, except for the Angel of Darkness... the demo disgusted me soo much that i started to hate it immediatly.

Tomb Raiders 1 through 8 and anniversary are my favorites. Tomb Raider 9 just ain't the same as the older games I hope CD can turn it around with Tomb Raider 10 and go back to the old formula.

Played TR 3 back in the day as a kid and it damm hard. Never finished. Played anniversary this week and it was amazing! I hope they will make a TR2 remake some time cause people think its the best
