Thanks so much for the video! Now I have a better idea of how much work it might be to actually do that on my 99 suburban. Appreciate video thank you from Canada
You are a Master Craftsman! I have a '96 K2500 Suburban, Gas, but I live in CA so I think I am going to need to put a front receiver hitch and then mount the winch that way. CA requires a front tag.
Great idea. Thanks for the video! I’ve been thinking about how/where I could put a winch where it wouldn’t be a target for thieves. This is maybe a bit more work than I could get away with if I wanted but it’ll do the trick.
Awesome video and thank you for sharing. My question relates to those bolts... Are they capable of handling the 16,000lbs the winch is rated for? Or would you recommend welding it all together?
Awesome, thanks for making video. I was curious if you could hide one behind the bumper. Other kits are below bumper. What is the mounting kit you bought?
I am working on building one like this. I cut a hole in the bracket just big enough to allow the sensor to remain in the stock location. I didn't want to move it because I was worried it could cause the air bags to deploy if not mounted in the stock location.
Great tutorial. 1:28 looks like a monk performing some arcane ritual. I have a '96 Tahoe and have been looking for a winch install to get myself out of soft sand when surf fishing. Need some ground anchors too. It's embarrassing to have to call a surf tow truck from town to get me unstuck; though it only happened once in thirty years it's still embarrassing. Best wishes.
Any plan to add a splash guard or something to cover it from debris? I know it's a waterproof unit, but I'd go nuts having that steel cable exposed like that.
it look weak, only two bolts to supports the winch ok, but if you neddit to use the weight of the truck and the power of winch, everything will fly away jajaaja, is my impression.

Just mount the tag over it with a flip up bracket. Stealthy Winch!

I always considered that space for a winch mount, but I held off until I got my Trailready bumper. Hoping to get a winch in it sometime next spring.
Did you have to drill any holes to put the winch plate on?

How did you mount the plate to the frame? Did you have an opportunity to use the winch like that? How well did it work if so?

Where did you mount the control solenoid
Where did you have placed the crash sensor after installing the winch?

Seems like a good side load on the fairlead would destroy that bumper...
I agree, that bumper wont hold up long, if the winch is heavily used

Been updated this year. drive.google.com/file/d/1E_2xy0G1KO8Ob0aKUmMgp6GCmtqZGxTS/view?usp=sharing
Very nice, clean and purposeful. Well done. Thank you for the heads up.
How has this been holding up?

I have an ARB Bumper now and will probably put something down there to block debris.
I plan on putting plexiglass underneath
Would this work the same on a 1994 GMC k1500. Also looking at a badlands 12k for the job
I wish you can help me install a winch for my GMC Yukon.
Need job I've got one 12000 badlands to put on my 91 z71 kindly dredding to get started you made it look simple
Is the winch mount off the shelf or did you design it??
How did you month the plate to the frame? I know you have since upgraded to a proper bumper but that doesnt help me lol.
yes we need to know about that mount!

looks good nice job... my dog likes to help too.
Looks good except for its upside down cable should roll in from bottom
Looks great.
Where u get winch plate
it DOES look good ,what did you use to cut the hole in your bumper for the cable to come through?
I used a hole saw for each end of the hole and a hole saw to cut between them. then a file to clean up the edges.
Awesome video! Who makes that winch mount?
Harbor freight
You wouldn't have the number or name for the plate?
But cutting the winch mount like that you weakening it.over time it's going to break

How did you mount the plate to the top of the frame
