Love the channel, but in this episode that 'helicopter' or rapidly thudding sound you used intermittently in the background at one point was really irritating. Don't mean to be unpleasant, but please can you not use it? It's like the auditory equivalent of a strobe light...

There is something I would like to clarify about our encounter/experience. There must have been a misunderstanding. I specifically stated in our experience "It was so white it looked like it was almost shining but it wasn't because it wasn't giving of any light of any sort or illuminating the ground or trees around it, you could see the shadow being cast on the it while it was swaying in the pitch black forest like it was a real animal." Meaning the creature was so white and the forest was so black you could see the darkness/shadow being cast on the creature as it was swaying silently back and forth. I never said there was a shadow being cast in the pitch black forest or anything among those lines. When you submit a experience to this channel on their website it specifically has a checkbox you have to click that states "I give permission for The Paranormal Scholar to edit my experience, at their discretion, for the sake of clarity and understanding." That's why it was changed, just a misunderstanding on their part.
This makes it make more sense because I thought; if it was pitch black, how was the shadow cast? I thought well, maybe there was a slight moonlight. Thank you for clarifying. 🙂
@Dr. Hannibal Lester Uh, no. I've seen multiple videos on the matter and the only way they ever came close to recreating it was with puppets on strings, it's definitely not people on stilts. If you can prove it, go ahead, otherwise you just sound like a smug tool.
@Dr. Hannibal Lester Could it be fake? Of course it could. But people on stilts? Very, very unlikely just by looking at it. If it's faked, it was done some other way like using strings.
My mother used to go camping in BC with her boyfriend and she saw things in those woods that were indescribable. She left as a believer in the paranormal.
Can you share whether she ever witnessed a dogman, or werewolf (whatever you call it)? I'm interested because a couple of people who used to hunt and camp up there witnessed them and they never went back!
@@christineparis5607 she definitely described a huge wolf like figure but it stood on 2 legs. She also thought maybe a huge moose, not a deer, because it had glowing eyes.
@@carolbrown3300 I keep hearing about these huge creatures on 2 legs! I'm was so curious because it has come up over and over. I'm convinced that there may be a kind of wolf hybrid that may have developed the ability to walk and run on 2 legs. A big wolf would be 8 or 9 feet tall standing up. The weirdest accounts to me are some from folks whose moms saw these things in completely unlikely places 30 or 40 years ago and never told anyone, or mentioned it and weren't believed. They told their kids finally (probably because so many people are sharing experiences online now), and so many of the sightings are around the same time/year even though the witnesses didn't know each other, they just happened to be driving in the same area and saw the exact same thing within months of each other, which really gives them credibility. Especially since it was at the edge of a busy city, but at that area of town it changed into farmland and grazing fields for cows, etc., a perfect place for a hunter to look for food. Makes it even more believable to me, makes sense that a large predator would come back over and over to an area and possibly curiously roam a bit around the city nearby, maybe drawn by restaurant smells, houses with trash cans or pets, etc. I was chilled when I realized that there were multiple sightings only a few miles away over the years! I had thought all these creatures were only in the big forests, national parks, Canada, etc. It looks like they are all over!
@@christineparis5607 this was only about 7 or 8 years ago and my mother was in her 60's. She's also a NYC girl raised by a farmer from West Virginia, she's more familiar with a gun then a camera. I so wished she had pictures of what she saw.
Except for a few years, I've lived most of my considerable life span in rural areas (primarily S. IL USA). I've seen a couple of things when I was driving at night, one of them being a creature running across the road with smaller animals (or perhaps pursuing them) that I just could not identify. I grew up in the woods, know all the animals in my home area, and I have no clue what I saw that night. Maybe a bear with no hair, rather gray, but not quite a bear, and we have none of those in S. IL anyway.
I live in rural England in a heavily forested area. One Autumn evening a couple of years ago I was home from university and out for a run in the woods with a friend of mine who stayed home to do an apprenticeship with his father. It was early evening and the bright orange foliage was thick underfoot with the sun rays glinting off moisture from a light rainfall earlier in the day. On the woodland tracks you can only run single file and neither of us had headphones on just in case the one behind tripped and the one in front didn’t hear. It was early evening as I say but hardly dark. Sometimes I think a sunset in an Autumn English woodland is simply the most pleasant place on earth. Anyway, we were going on at a good pace and were the only people out, most walkers do their thing in the daytime and picnic and go home. Doggers are known to come out later. For our American friends, you need to understand that English woodland isn’t like yours. We grow up thinking of the woods as the home of Robin Hood and due to the comparatively small size they are comparatively unthreatening compared to yours. There’s no Leicestershire BigFoot that I know of. If someone gets lost it’s very rare they will need to walk for more than an hour or so to find their way back. Anyway, that digression aside, my friend suddenly stopped dead in his tracks. About 20 yards ahead of us, there was what I can only describe as some sort of shadow. It looked roughly like the shape of a man, maybe about 6ft or so, and stood next to a tree. It seemed to be regarding us. It’s weird though, it was like we couldn’t look right at it, or couldn’t focus on it. The more I tried to make it out, the less I seemed to see. We were both filled with a sense of threat and both started to back up when, suddenly it was just gone. I don’t mean it disappeared or there was a poof and it vanished or anything like that. It’s hard to explain but it was just there, and then it wasn’t. I said it was hard to focus on, in the same way it’s hard to describe how it left. I couldn’t even say how long we were looking at t to be honest. More than a couple of seconds, less than a minute? We went over to the tree and couldn’t determine any trace of it. We didn’t feel threatened like we had just seconds before and there was no urge to flee. We just had a look around, for what I don’t even know and carried on. It’s live in a small village with a church built by the Normans so were well used to local ghost stories and old wives tales, but no one in the pub could explain it later that night. I’ve been back that way many times since, even alone and never seen it again. Not a clue. Just thought it might interest some.
With my Grandkids Amaya, 10, and Kingston, 3, took the dog outside, walking down the apt stairs about 9:30 pm. Amaya with the dog reached the bottom and both froze. I looked up to Kingston, then he too froze. In a VERY CLEAR and MATURE voice he said "What is that?!!" He and the dog raced upstairs. I went to Amaya, she said Do you see it on the walkway? I looked hard and said no. We went back in the apt. The next morning Amaya wanted to go look at the walkway. When we did she said Omg! it was real! Omg! It wasn't a bush or flowers. She then drew it saying it was solid black cloaked, 4-5 ft tall. It just stood there, but feeling it was looking at her or us. The cloak was openned to the ground, no face, eyes, legs, just swirling gray and black. After that Kingston would say the monster lives there. Oddly his baby voice was back. Amaya never saw it again.
@@SergioLeonardoCornejo I don't think they are dangerous. The native people who first inhabited the areas of California's sierras and lower country (like Fresno) make carvings of them but no warnings. They never said they were violent or scary, as they gave warnings not to bother the sasquatch or interfere with it. People always blame something, or someone, they aren't familiar with for every disappearance or accident. It's always the different who are targeted as "dangerous". I wish humanity could scale back on demonizing everything they don't understand. It's one of the main reasons traditional religious groups bother me, they teach fear of everything by pre judging anyone they aren't familiar with as probably "demonic". That single viewpoint wiped out millions of innocent people, children and animals over the centuries with violent torture and death. Christians punish first, ask questions later.
@@christineparis5607 I do not think of ill intent. I just know a relatively harmless or peaceful animal could turn into a threat if not understood. Even the simple looking grasshopper can kill you, provided you eat it. Unknown life forms have unknown threat levels. Let's say it is not hostile, but emits enough electromagnetic energy to make one sick. Well. Then it is dangerous.

I remember living in southern Indiana as a kid, I would spend hours and hours in the woods, I loved exploring, catching crawldads, I knew what berries I could eat, I would take the insides from the honeysuckle flower, I just loved the woods. One day I was 9 years old with my Brother going on our usual exploring the woods, we saw what looked like a Werewolf, I was petrified with fear, I saw this wolf walking with hands not paws and it was about 35' or so away from us. We locked eyes and it snarled, that snarl was what made me grab my Brothers hand and run, I was so scared I couldn't run until that snarl. My Brother and I ran and we heard it behind us, we ran faster than we ever ran before coming to a log that we had to walk across with a 20' drop into a creek. I made my Brother go first and kept him focused as we crossed, that wolf creature was now at the log bridge we crossed and it let out a howl that just scared us even more, we now were just 40' or so to our backdoor of our house. When we got home we were frightened out of our minds, we told our parents and my mother didn't believe we saw a Werewolf but she knew we saw something. The next 3 nights we heard something scratching at our house, again I was so scared I could not move, cry, or scream. When we told our parents the following morning they again told us we were imaging it until my stepfather saw scratches and large footprints in the mud. We weren't allowed in the woods and didn't ever wanna go back after this. I had another encounter with the same creature a few months later riding my bike as I was riding by the woods I heard a snarl I knew from the first experience, I rode my bike home so fast and shortly after all this we thankfully moved. I know fear that will make you scared stiff literally. I have wondered what our fate would have been if we lived there longer, there's stuff out there nightmares are made of. Be safe, be watchful, and when the woods go quite run......

I live in Knox County. Five years ago the poor house burnt to the ground. I drove by on my way home from work. Watching it burn was really creepy. They never determined the cause.

I most likely know the writer of the second story. I live in Ripley WV which is only 4miles from Kenna. I actually work in Kenna and on a night shift no less. I've heard some very strange sounds around our shop late at night. I'm usually alone unless I have our washboy working with me. I'd love to know the name of the storyteller so I could maybe check out the area he hunts in.

After hearing the last story I think that the person must have had some fear of the paranormal that manifested itself after their visit to the poor house. It seems the house acted as a kind of catalyst or maybe like a magnet and focussed the fear, attaching whatever the entity was to the person.
Agreed. He implied that his friend had already been there and didn't want to do it again. ( knowing of the layout,basement) He wasn't scared until he was told about the basement. ( I would assume she said a least a reason why the basement freaked her or others out) when he came back and talked about his feelings of a presence. There was probably more dialog between them about what was felt/seen in the basement before. I know a believe can help open your mind to be more receptive to abnormal possibilities. But still makes me wonder if what he saw was distorted by a preconceived idea. Not saying he didn't see anything, but the shape, expression ect. Can be due to his idea of what the thing was.
I don't really want my stories shared & RUclips ate my original comment that I tried to post. I forgot to copy it just in case & I'm not writing everything out a second time. But, I have Iroquois & Saponi ancestry, have lived in NE Ohio my whole life & the house I grew up in was on former sacred land, despite the fact that my family were all Christian & I never had any knowledge of this stuff until the last 5 years or so. I've never actually seen anything by eye, but I've interacted with spirits both physically & in dreams my whole life without realizing it. Still do from time to time. Some of it was in private, other things happened with other people around. Again, I absolutely am not going to write everything out again for the sake of context, so blame either RUclips, Google or my phone. Whichever you prefer. But, I have interacted with Little People, an Underwater Panther, Shadow People, the Iroquois Faceless Spirit, possibly a Paagak or Jisge & either Thunderbirds or Hino (I can't tell which). Plus other things I still cannot identify. I also involuntarily had a vision quest without intending to, or even sleeping outside & occasional other strange dreams.
This is cool. Subscriber's stories. I wouldn't want to be unlucky and have experiences with such creatures. Thank you for another spectacular video, Laura you never disappoint.

I live in Salt Lake City, UT; moved up here when I was in high school, stayed for college, and just kept staying. I have gone out exploring the environs for as long as I've lived here and I thought I'd at least heard of every weird spot in a hundred mile radius, but I've never heard of anything like the "Racoon People" place. I liked the last story when when the filling of someone that doesn't like you but you can't see it you can just feel it right in front of your face I've had that happen to me before I can relate and understand once me and my ex wife was laying down sleep together I could feel a very strong force of evil and hot warm feeling looking at us of like hate or something
I recently became intersted in paranormal things and researching about them and when the poor house guy said if you seek them they would eventually find you gave me creeps
Top5s has an older video that shows CCTV/Ring footage of something looking like the first cryptid from this video walking across someone's yard. No head, very little in the way of a body but legs. Watching it walk creeped me out in a big way.

@Dr. Hannibal Lester There has been several attempts to replicate the nightcrawler videos with puppetry, stilts, a child, etc, and NONE of it turned out even remotely close to their original videos. The more they tried to replicate it, the more they began to understand just how bizarre the figures were in them.

I don't get spooked easy. I seem to have a lot of dreams where I'm the one haunting and scaring other people, which I don't like. As for paranormal experiences, I've had a few. There's one where I was a kid and there was a mysterious voice that would call my name from the center of my bedroom near the ceiling. I lived in my Grandparents house after they had passed on and there were a few paranormal happenings there, like the sound of someone walking down the long hallway in the middle of the night. Sounds of someone breathing behind my head. Light switches and ceiling fans turning themselves on. And seeing 3 ufo's which also involved missing time.
Utah sounds like a really haunted state. I've always wandered why. It looks like such a beautiful state, but I wouldn't want to be outside in the forest at night!

I heard a blood curdling 3 am scream outside my window when i was 20 years old. I was screwing up bad. It was a wake up call. I said the Lords Prayer in that moment and have No idea how I new it.
I had that happening when I had just recently moved to the countryside. An almighty scream outside the front door - my cat and I nearly jumped out of bed! We thought a burglar or a ghost had come. We were too terrified to move for the rest of the night... Later someone told us it was most likely a vixen (female fox) as they can scream like a banshee. That's possible, we get a lot of foxes around here, but I've never heard such a scream again.
We used to have grey foxes and boy do they scream. Sounds like this usually have a natural cause. They sound like screaming women. The foxes around were nocturnal. Thats when you usually heard them. I see them very rarely now as the area has been built up. Also cougar sitings have been seen in our woods. They are not native.

I think the whole Shadow figure thing was the Grim Reaper cus i too saw a similar Shadow Figure When Me My Mom and My Big Sister were taking care of my ailing grandfather back in Mexico and when my grandpa died the Shadow Figure disappeared as well,i think that thing was trying to let the chick know that someone was going to die in this case her friend or boyfriend in that car accident,yet it is strange that it is now following her.
I could listen to you read me a phone book! Your voice is hypnotic and my favorite story you’ve read by far is Grandpa’s story about the man by the lake! It creeped me right the F**k out!

I keep hearing about these huge creatures on 2 legs! I'm was so curious because it has come up over and over. I'm convinced that there may be a kind of wolf hybrid that may have developed the ability to walk and run on 2 legs. A big wolf would be 8 or 9 feet tall standing up.
The weirdest accounts to me are some from folks whose moms saw these things in completely unlikely places 30 or 40 years ago and never told anyone, or mentioned it and weren't believed. They told their kids finally (probably because so many people are sharing experiences online now), and so many of the sightings are around the same time/year even though the witnesses didn't know each other, they just happened to be driving in the same area and saw the exact same thing within months of each other, which really gives them credibility. Especially since it was at the edge of a busy city, but at that area of town it changed into farmland and grazing fields for cows, etc., a perfect place for a hunter to look for food. Makes it even more believable to me, makes sense that a large predator would come back over and over to an area and possibly curiously roam a bit around the city nearby, maybe drawn by restaurant smells, houses with trash cans or pets, etc. I was chilled when I realized that there were multiple sightings only a few miles away over the years! I had thought all these creatures were only in the big forests, national parks, Canada, etc. It looks like they are all over!
@@christineparis5607 this was only about 7 or 8 years ago and my mother was in her 60's. She's also a NYC girl raised by a farmer from West Virginia, she's more familiar with a gun then a camera. I so wished she had pictures of what she saw.
Except for a few years, I've lived most of my considerable life span in rural areas (primarily S. IL USA). I've seen a couple of things when I was driving at night, one of them being a creature running across the road with smaller animals (or perhaps pursuing them) that I just could not identify. I grew up in the woods, know all the animals in my home area, and I have no clue what I saw that night. Maybe a bear with no hair, rather gray, but not quite a bear, and we have none of those in S. IL anyway.
Anyone else just listen to this and fall asleep? 😂

I live in rural England in a heavily forested area. One Autumn evening a couple of years ago I was home from university and out for a run in the woods with a friend of mine who stayed home to do an apprenticeship with his father. It was early evening and the bright orange foliage was thick underfoot with the sun rays glinting off moisture from a light rainfall earlier in the day.
On the woodland tracks you can only run single file and neither of us had headphones on just in case the one behind tripped and the one in front didn’t hear. It was early evening as I say but hardly dark. Sometimes I think a sunset in an Autumn English woodland is simply the most pleasant place on earth. Anyway, we were going on at a good pace and were the only people out, most walkers do their thing in the daytime and picnic and go home. Doggers are known to come out later.
For our American friends, you need to understand that English woodland isn’t like yours. We grow up thinking of the woods as the home of Robin Hood and due to the comparatively small size they are comparatively unthreatening compared to yours. There’s no Leicestershire BigFoot that I know of. If someone gets lost it’s very rare they will need to walk for more than an hour or so to find their way back.
Anyway, that digression aside, my friend suddenly stopped dead in his tracks. About 20 yards ahead of us, there was what I can only describe as some sort of shadow. It looked roughly like the shape of a man, maybe about 6ft or so, and stood next to a tree. It seemed to be regarding us. It’s weird though, it was like we couldn’t look right at it, or couldn’t focus on it. The more I tried to make it out, the less I seemed to see. We were both filled with a sense of threat and both started to back up when, suddenly it was just gone.
I don’t mean it disappeared or there was a poof and it vanished or anything like that. It’s hard to explain but it was just there, and then it wasn’t. I said it was hard to focus on, in the same way it’s hard to describe how it left. I couldn’t even say how long we were looking at t to be honest. More than a couple of seconds, less than a minute?
We went over to the tree and couldn’t determine any trace of it. We didn’t feel threatened like we had just seconds before and there was no urge to flee. We just had a look around, for what I don’t even know and carried on.
It’s live in a small village with a church built by the Normans so were well used to local ghost stories and old wives tales, but no one in the pub could explain it later that night.
I’ve been back that way many times since, even alone and never seen it again.

I saw something like that shadow man where some blasting for a highway near my home, where there where old coal mines, aswell as old native lands.
With my Grandkids Amaya, 10, and Kingston, 3, took the dog outside, walking down the apt stairs about 9:30 pm. Amaya with the dog reached the bottom and both froze. I looked up to Kingston, then he too froze. In a VERY CLEAR and MATURE voice he said "What is that?!!" He and the dog raced upstairs. I went to Amaya, she said Do you see it on the walkway? I looked hard and said no. We went back in the apt. The next morning Amaya wanted to go look at the walkway. When we did she said Omg! it was real! Omg! It wasn't a bush or flowers. She then drew it saying it was solid black cloaked, 4-5 ft tall. It just stood there, but feeling it was looking at her or us. The cloak was openned to the ground, no face, eyes, legs, just swirling gray and black. After that Kingston would say the monster lives there. Oddly his baby voice was back. Amaya never saw it again.
The first story reminds me of a giant Fresno Walker.

I don't think they are dangerous. The native people who first inhabited the areas of California's sierras and lower country (like Fresno) make carvings of them but no warnings. They never said they were violent or scary, as they gave warnings not to bother the sasquatch or interfere with it. People always blame something, or someone, they aren't familiar with for every disappearance or accident. It's always the different who are targeted as "dangerous". I wish humanity could scale back on demonizing everything they don't understand. It's one of the main reasons traditional religious groups bother me, they teach fear of everything by pre judging anyone they aren't familiar with as probably "demonic". That single viewpoint wiped out millions of innocent people, children and animals over the centuries with violent torture and death. Christians punish first, ask questions later.
@@christineparis5607 I do not think of ill intent. I just know a relatively harmless or peaceful animal could turn into a threat if not understood.
Even the simple looking grasshopper can kill you, provided you eat it.
Unknown life forms have unknown threat levels.
Let's say it is not hostile, but emits enough electromagnetic energy to make one sick. Well. Then it is dangerous.

Also i really like these subscriber stories because they seem to help others come to terms with what they've experienced. It helps to know that not everyone will dismiss your words as just an overactive imagination.
I remember living in southern Indiana as a kid, I would spend hours and hours in the woods, I loved exploring, catching crawldads, I knew what berries I could eat, I would take the insides from the honeysuckle flower, I just loved the woods. One day I was 9 years old with my Brother going on our usual exploring the woods, we saw what looked like a Werewolf, I was petrified with fear, I saw this wolf walking with hands not paws and it was about 35' or so away from us. We locked eyes and it snarled, that snarl was what made me grab my Brothers hand and run, I was so scared I couldn't run until that snarl. My Brother and I ran and we heard it behind us, we ran faster than we ever ran before coming to a log that we had to walk across with a 20' drop into a creek. I made my Brother go first and kept him focused as we crossed, that wolf creature was now at the log bridge we crossed and it let out a howl that just scared us even more, we now were just 40' or so to our backdoor of our house. When we got home we were frightened out of our minds, we told our parents and my mother didn't believe we saw a Werewolf but she knew we saw something. The next 3 nights we heard something scratching at our house, again I was so scared I could not move, cry, or scream. When we told our parents the following morning they again told us we were imaging it until my stepfather saw scratches and large footprints in the mud. We weren't allowed in the woods and didn't ever wanna go back after this. I had another encounter with the same creature a few months later riding my bike as I was riding by the woods I heard a snarl I knew from the first experience, I rode my bike home so fast and shortly after all this we thankfully moved. I know fear that will make you scared stiff literally. I have wondered what our fate would have been if we lived there longer, there's stuff out there nightmares are made of. Be safe, be watchful, and when the woods go quite run......

I live in Knox County. Five years ago the poor house burnt to the ground. I drove by on my way home from work. Watching it burn was really creepy. They never determined the cause.

I most likely know the writer of the second story. I live in Ripley WV which is only 4miles from Kenna. I actually work in Kenna and on a night shift no less. I've heard some very strange sounds around our shop late at night. I'm usually alone unless I have our washboy working with me. After hearing the last story I think that the person must have had some fear of the paranormal that manifested itself after their visit to the poor house. It seems the house acted as a kind of catalyst or maybe like a magnet and focussed the fear, attaching whatever the entity was to the person.
Agreed. He implied that his friend had already been there and didn't want to do it again. ( knowing of the layout,basement) He wasn't scared until he was told about the basement. ( I would assume she said a least a reason why the basement freaked her or others out) when he came back and talked about his feelings of a presence. There was probably more dialog between them about what was felt/seen in the basement before. I know a believe can help open your mind to be more receptive to abnormal possibilities. But still makes me wonder if what he saw was distorted by a preconceived idea. Not saying he didn't see anything, but the shape, expression ect. Can be due to his idea of what the thing was.
I don't really want my stories shared & RUclips ate my original comment that I tried to post. I forgot to copy it just in case & I'm not writing everything out a second time.
But, I have Iroquois & Saponi ancestry, have lived in NE Ohio my whole life & the house I grew up in was on former sacred land, despite the fact that my family were all Christian & I never had any knowledge of this stuff until the last 5 years or so. I've never actually seen anything by eye, but I've interacted with spirits both physically & in dreams my whole life without realizing it. Still do from time to time. Some of it was in private, other things happened with other people around.
Again, I absolutely am not going to write everything out again for the sake of context, so blame either RUclips, Google or my phone. Whichever you prefer. But, I have interacted with Little People, an Underwater Panther, Shadow People, the Iroquois Faceless Spirit, possibly a Paagak or Jisge & either Thunderbirds or Hino (I can't tell which). Plus other things I still cannot identify. I also involuntarily had a vision quest without intending to, or even sleeping outside & occasional other strange dreams.
This is cool. Subscriber's stories. I wouldn't want to be unlucky and have experiences with such creatures. Thank you for another spectacular video, Laura you never disappoint.

I liked the last story when when the filling of someone that doesn't like you but you can't see it you can just feel it right in front of your face I've had that happen to me before I can relate and understand once me and my ex wife was laying down sleep together I could feel a very strong force of evil and hot warm feeling looking at us of like hate or something

@Dr. Hannibal Lester There has been several attempts to replicate the nightcrawler videos with puppetry, stilts, a child, etc, and NONE of it turned out even remotely close to their original videos. The more they tried to replicate it, the more they began to understand just how bizarre the figures were in them.

I don't get spooked easy. I seem to have a lot of dreams where I'm the one haunting and scaring other people, which I don't like. As for paranormal experiences, I've had a few. There's one where I was a kid and there was a mysterious voice that would call my name from the center of my bedroom near the ceiling. I lived in my Grandparents house after they had passed on and there were a few paranormal happenings there, like the sound of someone walking down the long hallway in the middle of the night. Sounds of someone breathing behind my head. Light switches and ceiling fans turning themselves on. And seeing 3 ufo's which also involved missing time.
Utah sounds like a really haunted state. I've always wandered why. It looks like such a beautiful state, but I wouldn't want to be outside in the forest at night!

I heard a blood curdling 3 am scream outside my window when i was 20 years old. I was screwing up bad. It was a wake up call. I said the Lords Prayer in that moment and have No idea how I new it.

I had a similar situation, and come to find out that it was a cougar. I thought it was something like a chupacabra
I had that happening when I had just recently moved to the countryside. An almighty scream outside the front door - my cat and I nearly jumped out of bed! We thought a burglar or a ghost had come. We were too terrified to move for the rest of the night... Later someone told us it was most likely a vixen (female fox) as they can scream like a banshee. That's possible, we get a lot of foxes around here, but I've never heard such a scream again.
We used to have grey foxes and boy do they scream. Sounds like this usually have a natural cause. They sound like screaming women. The foxes around were nocturnal. Thats when you usually heard them. I see them very rarely now as the area has been built up. Also cougar sitings have been seen in our woods. They are not native.

I think the whole Shadow figure thing was the Grim Reaper cus i too saw a similar Shadow Figure When Me My Mom and My Big Sister were taking care of my ailing grandfather back in Mexico and when my grandpa died the Shadow Figure disappeared as well,i think that thing was trying to let the chick know that someone was going to die in this case her friend or boyfriend in that car accident,yet it is strange that it is now following her.
