Dear Jaclyn, I was born with a rare physical disability and I've developed a chronic pain condition over the past few years. I spend a lot of time in bed and often have trouble sleeping due to severe pain. I normally wouldn't tell you my "sob story" but I decided to today because I wanted to let you know that when I am in bed or unable to sleep, I'm always watching and re-watching your videos! You always put a smile on my face with your bright, charismatic, loving energy and you actually sparked my interest in makeup! What chronic pain condition have you developed? I've developed one also, called CRPS which has affected/damaged my nerves and entire nervous system from a surgery I got a few years ago. It's progressively getting worse and it's hard to find others out there who are going through similar things. I'm so sorry to hear what happened to you anyway, I wouldn't wish chronic pain upon anybody.

Olivia Thorne Gosh. I'm so so sorry. It took many many many specialists and doctors to figure out why I was having certain symptoms, and finally I went to a pain specialist who diagnosed me. I hope they figure it out soon. It stinks. Even though I am diagnosed, there isn't a cure. So I'm stuck with this for the rest of my life:/ my nerves will always be damaged, I'll always be sensitive to hot and cold temps, and I'll always have to rely on others to help me. I'm currently on meds to higher my blood pressure because I finally found out that the reason I was fainting and constantly getting dizzy at school was because I had CRPS and it affected my nervous system. I'll always have these problems, and I'm sure they'll get much worse as I grow older. But, I get my mind off of it by singing and making beauty videos here on RUclips! Since I cannot play soccer or any sports, or even walk around at school, I'm stuck homeschooling. There aren't any treatments for what I have, but I believe there's always a way to get my mind off of it. Im truly so sorry that they haven't been able to diagnose you. I know how it is to go through tests and tests, and still not getting an answer. But I hope they figure it out someday soon, and that your symptoms don't progressively get worse. All forms of chronic pain are bad, but I'm sure you know how to handle them. Good luck, I'm sorry again.:(

Storytime: so I was on my way home from work after a long day and was watching this video on the train. A girl sitting next to me must've seen my screen and tapped me just to say "I can't believe you're watching Jaclyn Hill, I can't stand her face and she doesn't even do makeup that well". I said "if it wasn't for Jaclyn, I'd probably tell you to get the fuck out of my face. But because I'm a part of her subscriber family, I'll tell you- as politely as I can- that I respect your opinion. But for me, Jaclyn's videos are so much more than just makeup. As you can see, I have no eyeshadow on. No dramatic lashes or lip color. But watching her videos make me happy and give me an escape and I can feel her even though there's a phone screen and thousands of miles between us. She's helped me with my anxiety and her videos have pulled me out of bed on days I didn't even want to move. So I hope you think about that the next time you rudely interrupt someone watching a video to give your two cents. You never know what that 'lame makeup video' means to them." I don't know if you're going to read this, but I thought I'd say this anyways. I'm currently in nursing school and working part time. I had to drop a day because of the overwhelming amount of work we get. My clinical teacher is terrifying, she always says little digs making me feel so inadequate. Between all our assignments and exams I'm so overwhelmed and stressed just waiting for this semester to be done in December, hoping I make it through. Your videos are my escape, they relax me and get my mind off school for a bit. Or switching up how she sleeps. At 30 I was still occasionally getting acne on my chin it was driving me bonkers- a friend pointed out I rest my chin on my arm/hand while I sleep. Adjusted a bit so it's a clean pillowcase, BAM, cleared right up, four years later and no problems since. 💕

Sophie Ortega girl, I'm oily too but i still wear highlighter!! haha just not in my tzone which is where I'm the most oily. do what jaclyn does and set your face with translucent powder and only highlight where you want that glow. that's what i do! don't let that oily skin keep you from glowing to the gawds! 😘
I am oily too and I do the same thing with the translucent powder and then go in with highlighter! Just because you have oily skin doesn't mean you need to stop wearing a certain makeup. Embrace your skin girl! It is the only one you will get :)
What I love doing is taking a mattifying primer (I use the No. 7 one), and then, after foundation and concealer I take a loose translucent powder with a damp beauty blender. It keeps me matte all day, and I can still highlight without look oily!!! I know how you feel with oily skin, it sucks.

Hey Jaclyn, I know you were talking about being frustrated with having texture on your cheeks and stuff. I recommend that you try ditching any exfoliating scrubs, or any physical exfoliators, and try AHA &/or BHA liquid exfoliants. They're so much better for your skin and won't cause tiny lacerations on your skin like scrubs do, which can lead to more texture and larger pores and eventually premature sagging/wrinkling of the skin. Just a tip, as this has done WONDERS for my skin. love you girl! 😘

At this point, after being a subscriber for so long, I can honestly say that I don't even watch Jaclyn's videos for the main purpose of learning and being inspired by makeup anymore..... I mean OF COURSE I still LOVE that aspect of her channel and I STILL learn new things from her all the time, but I'm sitting in my corner at the public library (can't afford wifi at home anymore for a while) and I realize after pulling up this video FIRST thing, that I smile every time I see a notification for her channel not because I get to watch another video of Jaclyn SLAYYYINNGG, but simply because Jaclyn herself is an inspiration to me. What chronic pain condition have you developed? I've developed one also, called CRPS which has affected/damaged my nerves and entire nervous system from a surgery I got a few years ago. It's progressively getting worse and it's hard to find others out there who are going through similar things. I'm so sorry to hear what happened to you anyway, I wouldn't wish chronic pain upon anybody.

Olivia Thorne Gosh. I'm so so sorry. It took many many many specialists and doctors to figure out why I was having certain symptoms, and finally I went to a pain specialist who diagnosed me. I hope they figure it out soon. It stinks. Even though I am diagnosed, there isn't a cure. So I'm stuck with this for the rest of my life:/ my nerves will always be damaged, I'll always be sensitive to hot and cold temps, and I'll always have to rely on others to help me. I'm currently on meds to higher my blood pressure because I finally found out that the reason I was fainting and constantly getting dizzy at school was because I had CRPS and it affected my nervous system. I'll always have these problems, and I'm sure they'll get much worse as I grow older. But, I get my mind off of it by singing and making beauty videos here on RUclips! Since I cannot play soccer or any sports, or even walk around at school, I'm stuck homeschooling. There aren't any treatments for what I have, but I believe there's always a way to get my mind off of it. Im truly so sorry that they haven't been able to diagnose you. I know how it is to go through tests and tests, and still not getting an answer. But I hope they figure it out someday soon, and that your symptoms don't progressively get worse. All forms of chronic pain are bad, but I'm sure you know how to handle them. Good luck, I'm sorry again.:(

Storytime: so I was on my way home from work after a long day and was watching this video on the train. A girl sitting next to me must've seen my screen and tapped me just to say "I can't believe you're watching Jaclyn Hill, I can't stand her face and she doesn't even do makeup that well". But watching her videos make me happy and give me an escape and I can feel her even though there's a phone screen and thousands of miles between us. I'm currently in nursing school and working part time. I had to drop a day because of the overwhelming amount of work we get. My clinical teacher is terrifying, she always says little digs making me feel so inadequate. Between all our assignments and exams I'm so overwhelmed and stressed just waiting for this semester to be done in December, hoping I make it through.

What I love doing is taking a mattifying primer (I use the No. 7 one), and then, after foundation and concealer I take a loose translucent powder with a damp beauty blender. It keeps me matte all day, and I can still highlight without look oily!!! I know how you feel with oily skin, it sucks.

I live in Sacramento and it's one of the major cities where human trafficking is a major problem because all the freeways connect making it easier to transfer women/young girls and because of the boats leaving and entering Sacramento

Hey Jaclyn, I know you were talking about being frustrated with having texture on your cheeks and stuff. I recommend that you try ditching any exfoliating scrubs, or any physical exfoliators, and try AHA &/or BHA liquid exfoliants. They're so much better for your skin and won't cause tiny lacerations on your skin like scrubs do, which can lead to more texture and larger pores and eventually premature sagging/wrinkling of the skin. Just a tip, as this has done WONDERS for my skin. love you girl! 😘

At this point, after being a subscriber for so long, I can honestly say that I don't even watch Jaclyn's videos for the main purpose of learning and being inspired by makeup anymore..... I mean OF COURSE I still LOVE that aspect of her channel and I STILL learn new things from her all the time, but I'm sitting in my corner at the public library (can't afford wifi at home anymore for a while) and I realize after pulling up this video FIRST thing, that I smile every time I see a notification for her channel not because I get to watch another video of Jaclyn SLAYYYINNGG, but simply because Jaclyn herself is an inspiration to me. I know that even when I have a terrible week and am completely aware that I am not one the girls who has ever been able to afford even ONE of the gorgeous products Jaclyn uses, I still can't WAIT to click on her videos because within a minute, I will be smiling and laughing like a LOONIE at her pure and genuine hilarious ways, and all those big problems and obstacles just seem to fade away for approximately 10-20 mins, depending on the type of video hahah. Because when it comes to Jaclyn Hill, it's about so more than just makeup. THANK YOU

It kills me when I see people not wipe the foundation off their lips before applying lipstick or gloss. Idk but it drives me nuts!!
MariannaPlusTwo They actually do it so the lippie color stands out more. Sort of like when they use a white cream color before applying a yellow eyeshadow.
Pretty Luu I know but their lips look so gross all covered in foundation. Whenever I have foundation left on my lips my lippies look disgusting so I don't get how theirs don't.
I usually wipe it off if I get any on my lips but when I forget it looks fine. I guess everyone is different.

Jaclyn, you definitely ARE a special make up wizard!! I just started wearing false lashes and after a few times it got so much easier. Ardell Demi Wispies are great to start, they have a very thin clear flexible band and are pretty but not crazy dramatic. And they are at the drugstore!
