Is this the same GM that very recently wanted to weaken emission standards in California? The same GM that killed the EV1?
The same GM that wants to screw the american people over, same GM that lobby government for their benefit, same GM that sells crap cars to the public, same GM that markets the slogan buy American yet their cars are made in other country, same gm that dismantled public transportation, dismantled railways. This is a totally different GM.
Technically it’s not since the new GM is a brand new company since they declared bankruptcy in 2008. GM cars suck(I drive a Chevy so I can say it) and I’m just being a smartass but yep that’s GM for ya
Careful! Norwegians are everywhere.
No one tell them about their healthcare system, tuition-free college, or the fact that they have the world's lowest murder rate.
Noone tell them about how their defence costs are completely covered by the U.S. due to NATO (And their lack of payment into it), therefore they have excess government funds to do random stuff with. (They are being carried by the U.S. basically)

@Zachary Green it is funny, just that they could have skipped the Sweden part, since nowhere in Sweden it looks like that. The University of Bergen made video about this commercial you should check it out. Maybe not that funny but informative :)

"30 new EVs by 2025" but not for sale right? Just for show to GM shareholders?
Lol
They mean 30 cars. Not 30 models.
haha. Yeap. They made 26 EV in 2021 Q4. Just 4 more to go. :D

The little jump Awkwafina gives when she turns around and sees the reindeer! Little touches like that make brilliant comedy!

Norway March 2021 sales: 56.3% EVs, 28.6% plug-in hybrids, 5.6% plugless hybrids, 4.7% diesel, 4.6% gasoline.
EVs make sense for small communities and countries. They make no sense for 80% of Americans. EVs are for short commutes and for those who can wait to charge.

@@jerulyndizon1641 He is saying that Tesla is going to lead EV productuon in the future not GM
@@atfb19007 Toyota and Honda or EU manufacturers have a good chance at doing that, tesla has headstart but those ones have money, factories, resource and reliability associated with their names,
@@nautical1078 I know VW/Audi are selling the most EVs in Norway.
@@jerulyndizon1641 Anyone who watches that ad and gets interested in buying an EV would have to get a Tesla. It will take GM *years* to ramp up production on EV's. Tesla produced and sold half a million cars last year and they're aiming for over 50% compounded growth. They're building gigafactories faster than some EV companies are building cars.
Also, Tesla's specs and performance (range, acceleration, etc.) are far ahead of their current EV competition (their real competition is gas-powered cars, and they're beating them too), and their pace of innovation is unmatched.
As for why the commercial is bad, GM has done everything in their power to block the transition to EV's, to the point of killing their own EV, the EV-1 back in the early 2000's. They could have *been* Tesla.
This current ad is for expensive luxury models (Hummer and Cadillac), so they are not high-volume selling cars that will do much to help the U.S. catch up to Norway in EV adoption. It's basically a greenwash to let them pretend to be on the right side of history while they continue to gobble profits from selling gas-guzzling trucks and SUV's.
Tesla, Volkswagen, and other serious EV producers are going to chew them up and spit them out.

Gotta just switch to cars that are like toys: Battery compartment in the bottom of the car, so "service stations" can just have batteries and chargers to enable customers to just exchange batteries as a "fill up". GM is always advertising what it doesn't have. Hey, GM, less talk more EVs on the road - how about it? BTW, GM, notice that Tesla doesn't advertise at all, ever. No need when you actually have desirable EVs that everyone will pay premium for.
Best you check the recalls of Tesla cars. It's not good.
Who's here from One Million Moms? you know the "Few Hundred/Thousand Karens" who hate The Owl House?
This is the funniest commercial once you consider Norway has the population of Minnesota and the citizens are subsidized by the nations Petroleum production.

In a Cadillac commercial or a magazine ad of a long ago era, an elegant man wearing a tuxedo was accompanied by a beautiful woman wearing a designer gown. He drove her in a land yacht sized car dripping with chrome and wide white wall tires to an elegant restaurant or exclusive club. It was all to convey an elevated level of sophistication and good taste. Now we have a goofy looking comedian punching globes and cursing that he ended up in the wrong country.
That was also the commercial for just about everything, a man in a suite, and preferably a cigarette in his mouth, telling you that you should buy this car. Because he, as a successfull singer, thinks thats the way to go, and man you will be cool if you do.

Why change an iconic logo? It is silly, GM has a rich history, why change the logo.
Companies rebrand and modernize all the time. They have changed their logo to represent their apparent switch to electric vehicles.
I agree...BMW and Mercedes-Benz don't change their logos that dramatically.
GM has gone to crap as shown by this ad. My as well have a crap logo too. And btw I used to love GM.
@@JoshuasRecordings The quality of GM vehicles has improved but the Super Bowl ad is terrible. There is nothing about that ad that conveys elegance, class, or sophistication. And changing the logo was unnecessary. Mary Barra needs to hire a different advertising agency.
I mean, the logo is still the same. But then again capital letters are better than lower case
Keep in mind that the batteries for these vehicles contain a METAL resource. Meaning the earth needs to be DUG UP the same way we do for coal. But coal is "bad" for the environment.
